From renowned events to personal wine tastings along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, in the quaint wine villages and in the Eisacktal valley, these reflect the versatility of our land and the expertise of our skilled winegrowers.

    Asparagus season in Terlan
    Terlan/Terlano, Alto Adige Wine Road
    n the villages of Vilpian, Siebeneich and Terlan asparagus has been grown for centuries. Today 15 asparagus growers in Terlan plant approx. 10 ha of high quality asparagus and sell it under the trade mark and hallmark of excellence Margarete. The elegant looking and extremely mild tasting Terlan asparagus is very popular with the connoisseurs of this white spring vegetable. In April and May several restaurants invite visitors to enjoy classic and creative asparagus dishes made with the valuable Margarete asparagus. Fresh asparagus with home-cured ham, boiled potatoes and Bozner sauce is one of the classics. The meal is accompanied by the fine, mineral containing Terlano “asparagus wine” (Sauvignon) from the Terlan winery.

    Springtime for your palate When spring arrives, it's time to celebrate. Especially in the valley, where the first harbingers of spring are known to bloom and chirp a little earlier than in the mountains. On the Alto Adige Wine Road, spring is all about wine and culinary delights. From the end of March to June, exquisite wines and tasty treats can be savoured in the villages from Nals/Nalles to Salurn/Salorno and in the wine town of Bolzano - at top-class wine events, culinary highlight events and various gastronomic weeks in selected restaurants.

The team at wein.kaltern was convinced that such an open door event would be a wonderful chance to combine a visit to one of the partner businesses with a stroll through the unforgettable village landscape and a fine glass of wine. At the historic Popphof in Marling, the love for nature comes alive. Let Katharina explain to you why “the vine” is considered a woman – a deeply rooted passion that is evident in every drop of wine. The vineyards at Popphof are cultivated with great care and dedication. From the first budding to the harvest, every phase in the vineyard is carefully managed. The sunny slopes and exceptional locations give the wines a unique character, reflecting the effort and weather conditions of an entire year. In the wine cellar, the aromas of the young and maturing wines unfold as they rest in oak barrels. Careful pressing, controlled fermentation, and maturation ensure wines of the highest quality. During a barrel tasting with the winemaker, you will experience firsthand how the wines evolve over time. Delight in a diverse array of flavors during the tasting of 7-9 wines – an unforgettable experience at the Popphof. The Menz family looks forward to welcoming you! The event takes place in German.     Day and night dedicated to Pinot Noir! Viticulture has been rooted in South Tyrol for thousands of years. Vineyards are part of the landscape, culture and everyday life. On the sun-drenched slopes and along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, wonderful wines grow. In the area around Castelfeder, one grape variety finds particularly favourable conditions and probably also its best possible expression: the Pinot Noir. This elegant red wine is the focus of the South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Nights. Experience culinary delights of a special kind with the matching Pinot Noir. Various restaurants in Auer/Ora, Montan/Montagna, Neumarkt/Egna and Salorno/Salurn offer a unique culinary experience.

    ONLY IN GERMAN OR ITALIAN Niedereben Farm is situated at an altitude of 634 metres on Nörderberg mountain. Benefiting from the advantageous climate, olives, grapes and cacti all flourish here. The Hofer family supplies the local organic specialist retailer (Biokistl) with its fruit and vegetables and sells a variety of home produced, typical South Tyrolean organic products in their own farm shop. Cows, pigs, quails, ducks, geese and chickens all feel like “pigs in clover” on the farm! This introduction to the long history of the farm gives visitors an insight into livestock husbandry and wine growing on the Vinschgau’s Nörderberg mountain and shows the route taken from the first olives to the production of the farm’s own olive oil. The following products are available to buy directly from the farm shop: speck (bacon), salami, smoked sausages, cooked herb-crusted ham, Coppa ham, farmer’s speck, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and in the autumn months chestnuts and pumpkins, apple juice and Vernatsch wine.

    Your guide leads you through several stations where she tells about winegrowing, landscape and history. On the way, at the Baron Widmann winery, in the vineyards, at the Castel Turmhof Tiefenbrunner winery and in the Cantina Cortaccia, you can taste 5 typical wines. The walk lasts 3 1/2-4 hours, about 50 minutes of which are spent actually walking.

    Discover the current collection of South Tyrol’s first female master distiller, experience the authentic distilling process and taste select wines and spirits in the 14th century tower cellar. Ripened in the sun, distilled in a copper vat: at the Gaudenz Farm Distillery only first-class, hand-picked fruit finds its way inside. Williams pears, apples, grapes, Vinschgau apricots and quinces are transformed into the finest, single-origin fruit brandies by hand using the keen instinct of the master distiller, which, with their authentic flavour are a true delight for the taste buds. Christine Schönweger, farmer and South Tyrol’s only female master distiller, describes the path she has taken from a love of fruit, via the art of distilling, to genuine and authentic indulgence, with a guided tour of the Gaudenz farm distillery in the Gaudententurm Residence plus tasting of the farm's own spirits.

During a guided cellar tour, visitors can learn how grapes are transformed into wine and explore the stunningly designed cellar spaces, each with its unique color scheme.     From April to the beginning of November, young winemaker Lukas from the Hillepranterhof invites you to enjoy his exquisite wines every Thursday at 5:30 pm. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of viticulture on a guided tour of the vineyard and cellar. On request, you can also be served a platter of regional specialties. Winegrowing has been a tradition at the Hillepranterhof for generations. Since 2021, winemaker Lukas has been processing the grapes directly on the estate and marketing his wines independently. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Vernatsch and Pinot Noir grow on the slopes of the vineyard. The Pinot Noir is a real highlight and embodies the unique character of the terroir.     The Plonerhof winery in Marling invites you to an exclusive wine tasting and cellar tour every Friday at 3:00 PM, year-round (except during harvest). Experience how passion and expertise create exceptional wines. During the tour, you will learn interesting details about viticulture and wine production. In the cellar, the secrets of winemaking will be revealed. Finally, the wine tasting completes this unique experience. At the Plonerhof winery, a variety of wines are produced on steep vineyard rows with inclines of up to 40%. The house’s cuvées are especially impressive, standing out for their unique diversity and the combination of exceptional grapes. The winery is located in a unique position, where the interplay of climate, soil, and the mountain ranges around Merano creates ideal conditions for viticulture. A shuttle service will take you from winery to winery, where you can taste the wines of our winemakers and also get an insight into their wine cellars. Participating wineries -Cantina Valle Isarco -Winery Spitalerhof -Winery Thomas Dorfmann -Winery Garlider -Winery Radoar -Winery Zöhlhof -Winery Röck -Winery Oberfurner Ticket Ticket: 30.00 € for the tasting at all seven participating wineries.     Guided hike along the wine trail "Rebe". Meeting point: 10 a.m. train station Klobenstein, or 10.40 a.m. at the Infopoint in Unterinn. Duration: 5 hours, refreshments along the way. Difficulty: middle. Elevation difference 700 m in the descent. Price: € 15, free with RittenCard. Wine tasting at Ansitz Waldgries by appointment, Price: € 10. Language: German & Italian We meet at 10 am at Klobenstein station. We take bus 165 to Unterinn. From here we hike to Signat and along the new wine hiking trail "Rebe" to Bolzano. The sunny mountain slope from Bozen up to the Ritten is one of the finest wine-growing areas in South Tyrol. Along the wine steps, the 10 artistic installations offer a fascinating glimpse into the culture of wine production. From Signat the trail leads downhill through the gently rolling vineyards to the viewing platform with its magnificent views of Bozen, then on to the Loosmannhof, to the settlement of St. Justina and down to Rentsch in the historic wine-growing estate of Ansitz Waldgries. The same route leads back uphill from Bozen to Signat.
