Events in Sterzing und Umgebung

During a herbal walk, we learn about the most important local plants and their uses. We then make a tincture and an oil extract with plant material under instruction. We then use these extracts to make various products together (e.g. lip balm, insect bite roller, ointment ...). Afterwards, the participants can take home 1 product of each of the treasures they have made (with the corresponding instructions for production and recipe). Costs: 10,00€ material costs TO BE PAID ON SITE (also for ActiveCard holders)

The guided summit hike takes us from the Ratschings-Jaufen mountain station past the Wasserfaller Alm to the Rinnersattel. We reach the 2,331-metre-high Fleckner via the Jaufenkamm ridge. On the way back to the mountain station we pass the Äußere Wumblsalm and stop at the mountain hut Wasserfalleralm. This hike is only recommended for people aged 14 and over.

The guided e-bike tour starts at the Rent and Go bike rental at the Ratschings valley station. We start with a group game and playfully learn the most important riding safety tips. Afterwards we drive together along the Pfeifer Huisele path to Flading to the barefoot path with Kneipp facility. There we have a little refreshment at the witches' fountain. Fun balancing exercises await us before we head back to the starting point. The tour is fun for adults and children from 6 years (only with driving experience). On request, a child seat for children up to 20 kg or a bicycle trailer for max. 2 children up to 5 years can be reserved. The e-bike tour is accompanied by a trained South Tyrolean bike guide.

The starting point is Flading in the Ratschingstal valley. Our route takes us up to the Gleckalm (not cultivated) via trail no. 30. The route alternates between flatter and steeper sections, which makes the hike particularly varied. The landscape presents itself in all its diversity and beauty. Once we have reached the Gleckalm plateau, we continue on our way to the Glecksee lake. The way back is mostly along the same path, but there is the option of organizing an alternative downhill version via the Klammalm. Total distance: 10.6 km (5.5 km to Glecksee) Total duration: 6.5 hours Difference in altitude: 950 m Difficulty: difficult - sure-footedness is required, a good level of fitness is essential and prior training is recommended. The Jaufental is an extraordinary valley of nature's tranquillity, and it is precisely here that we seduce you and your family and show you wonderful natural places. We experience the element of water at the Gurgl waterfall and while treading water at the mountain pasture, where we stop for refreshments. We discover various herbs, trees and alpine flowers along the way. Suitable for families and children aged 5 and over. Not suitable for baby carriages!

An unforgettable mountain experience for gourmets and nature lovers: take the Rosskopf cable car and the panorama lift up to 2,200 m to the legendary wishing bell. Once rung, it carries your wishes over the peaks of the Alps. We then take a leisurely hike to the Telfer Almen and on to the rustic Kuhalm - where you will be treated to a grey cheese tasting. Return via a leisurely hiking trail to the mountain station. Number of participants: minimum 4; maximum 15 people Registration deadline: Wednesday no later than 5:00 p.m.

ONLY FOR CHILDREN AGED 5 TO 9 YEARS OLD! Be a real knight or a brave damsel for once! Childhood dreams come true at the medieval Reifenstein Castle. With fencing, archery and adventurous games, children can immerse themselves in the world of the Middle Ages in a playful way - supervised and age-appropriate. Please note: Only for children between 5 and 9 years old. No exceptions possible! Meanwhile, parents can optionally take part in a guided tour of the castle. From the Provincial Mining Museum in Maiern/Ridnaun, trail no. 9 takes us on a relaxed, leisurely hike to the entrance of the wild Burkhardklamm gorge. At the waterfall, we breathe in the finely atomized aerosol of the Fernerbach stream, and the invigorating effect of these healing drops is immediately noticeable. You will experience the health-promoting effect that our scientific study at the Paracelsus Salzburg Private University has shown. We find peace and relaxation by becoming aware of nature with all our senses. With Kneipp treatments, we also let the calming power of the forest work its magic on us on the way back.

We start in Maiern in front of the Rent and Go bike rental in the direction of Bergl, go past the birthplace of the Ridnaun giantess and on to the Martalm. From there we cycle along the forest road to the Gewingesalm. After a little refreshment continue to cycle to Entholz and along the Erzweg back to the starting point. Evening hike in the spirit of South Tyrolean tradition and customs. The spectacle of the mountain fires lit every year on Sacred Heart Sunday, which can be admired on many mountain slopes in South Tyrol, is particularly impressive. This tradition goes back to an old custom in which the sun is worshipped as a symbol through fire on the summer solstice. Participation for children from 12 years and older!

Traditional Schuhplattler from all over South Tyrol create a great atmosphere at the various mountain huts. The focus here is on fun, entertainment and the love of tradition. Clapping, jumping and the traditional yell of joy are part of every typical Schuhplattler dance and tempt many to join in.

The World Bodypainting Festival (WBF) is coming to Sterzing / Vipiteno in South Tyrol! For 28 years, the World Bodypainting Festival (WBF) has been the most important event in the international bodypainting scene. The only World Award event in 2025 will be the Camouflage Bodypainting category, taking place on July 12 and 13, 2025, in Sterzing. For many years, this competition has celebrated the art of optical illusion, where artists masterfully blend painted bodies into their surroundings. The growing enthusiasm for this category has led to an expansion to a two-day competition, giving more artists the chance to showcase their talents. The picturesque alpine town Sterzing, provides the perfect setting for this event. With its historic alleys, medieval towers, and breathtaking mountain landscapes, the town transforms into an open-air gallery. The peaceful atmosphere allows artists to fully focus on their craft, while visitors can enjoy a unique and immersive experience.Starting July 10, 2025, special side events, including workshops and networking gatherings, will help prepare participants for the competition and foster creative exchange. The mountain festival in Gossensass and the Pflersch/Fleres valley. From saturday July 12th to sunday July 27th 2025, everything in Gossensass/Colle Isarco and the Pflersch/Fleres valley will be under the sign of herbs. Traditional herbal dishes, seminars and great hikes will enrich your stay. Get to know the flowers and herbs of the Alps better and take a look at the beneficial power of mountain plants. In addition to the evening mountain dinner at the Edelweisshütte and the herb festival in Ladurns, the highlight of this year's festival is the photo competition.

The "Seven Lakes Tour" is a demanding but truly rewarding hike in the Ridnaun high mountains. We save the first two hours and 600 metres in altitude thanks to the shuttle that takes us from Maiern to the Moarerbergalm. From there we dive into the unmistakable world of the glacier lakes, in whose mostly calm surface shimmering sky spectacles are impressively reflected. For thousands of years, the lakes have been witnesses to the glacial world of the Ice Age. On our circular hike we enjoy the dreamlike view of the Moarer Weißen, also called the Ridnaun Dolomites. Ascent: 2h - 600 vertical meters and 3km (moderately steep) Descent: 4 to 6 hours - 1,350 vertical meters and 11 km (steep and bumpy) A break is made halfway along the Trüber See lake with your own provisions, no stop at a hut is planned. The hike only takes place in optimal weather conditions! Surefootedness, good stamina and a head for heights are necessary for some short passages!

Pick up your picnic basket, ride the Rosskopf gondola to the top, find your favorite spot in nature and enjoy a South Tyrolean mountain picnic with a breathtaking view! Choose between two sizes: a basket for two or the family version! The basket includes selected products from Sterzing Dairy, honey, jam, fresh bread, pastries, sweet and savory treats, juices and drinks – and of course, a picnic blanket. At the festival of the mountain huts, music groups provide hearty hut fun, and South Tyrolean specialties are served at all the alpine huts. The comfortable Ratschings-Jaufen cable car shortens the ascent to the mountain station.

We experience an unforgettable morning atmosphere on the Jaufenpass and let ourselves be enchanted by the unique atmosphere. This is followed by a leisurely hike along the ridge to the Rinneralm. After a hearty alpine breakfast with regional products, we return to the starting point. The breakfast includes homemade bread, real alpine butter, various jams, cakes, alpine cheese, sausages, muesli, yoghurt, eggs, fried eggs with bacon, juices and warm drinks. Rising between the mountains Telfer Weißen and Wetterspitze, the the mountain peak Seeberspitz reaches an impressive 2,567 metres – a striking peak in the southern Stubai Alps. To save some elevation gain, we take the Ladurns cable car up to the mountain station. From there, our scenic and varied hike toward the summit begins. The panoramic trail takes about three hours and leads through stunning alpine landscapes. It first crosses expansive alpine meadows, dotted with larches and wildflowers, and passes the picturesque Lake Seeber, a tranquil mountain lake nestled between rocky slopes. Beyond the lake, the trail becomes more demanding: scree fields and rocky terrain require sure-footedness, a head for heights, and good fitness. At the summit, a breathtaking 360° panorama awaits: from the rugged Stubai Alps and the majestic Tribulaun to the distant Dolomites and far down into the Pflerschtal Valley – a view that rewards every step. Alpine Gondola Dinner at Rosskopf – A Culinary Experience Above the Clouds On Friday, July 18, 2025, gourmets and nature lovers can look forward to a special highlight: the Alpine Gondola Dinner at Rosskopf. At this exclusive event, selected restaurants from Sterzing will showcase their culinary expertise in a truly unique setting – inside the gondolas of the Rosskopf cable car. Guests will enjoy an exquisite six-course menu served during the ride, where city and mountain come together in an unexpectedly close and harmonious way. The evening begins at the valley station with an Italian aperitif, followed by an extraordinary dining experience served directly in the gondolas, high above the breathtaking mountain landscape with a view of the town of Sterzing. Culinary delights will be prepared by Restaurant Kolping, Restaurant zur Traube, Posthotel Lamm, and Stadthotel Schwarzer Adler. After dessert, an afterparty at Restaurant Biwak with a DJ will round off the evening. On this adventure hike, we immerse ourselves in a time when life still had an uncomplicated course, when there were no access roads to the mountain meadows, the tools were simple and basic, yet sophisticated, and of course there was no smartphone for a long time. We set off on foot and reach the mountain meadow, where we will explore the topic of mountain hay, not just thematically. For this weeks version "Light" we go to a mountain meadow at the end of the Ratschings valley. The exact location has not yet been decided. It will probably be the meadow about 300 m behind the Kneipp facility. The starting point is the Ratschings Jaufen cable car valley station (also accessible by bus), from where we will continue together towards the end of the valley.

From the agreed meeting point at the parking lot at the freeway exit, we set off - ideally in carpools - towards the top of the Penser Joch (the transition between the Eisacktal Valley and the Sarntal Valley). Alternatively, by prior arrangement, anyone who wishes can drive directly to the parking lots below the Penser Joch, the starting point of our hike. From this position, our path leads mostly along the ridge, gently ascending and not very difficult, always accompanied by breathtaking views. Our destination is the summit of the Zinseler (2,422 m), from where we can enjoy an impressive panoramic view. The panorama stretches from the glaciers of the eastern main Alpine ridge over the Pustertal valley to the Dolomites in the south and extends westwards over the Sarntal Alps to the Swiss border. The view down into the valley basin of Sterzing is particularly impressive, where the lights of the old town and the striking Zwölferturm tower create a picturesque scene. The highlight of our tour will undoubtedly be the unforgettable sunset, which transforms the sky into a fascinating play of colors. The memory of the Pfeifer Huisele is more alive than ever in Ratschings. With legendary stories, magical enchantments and a mysterious treasure hunt, the mischievous sorcerer is tracked down on the alpine pastures. Anyone who collects at least 3 stamps on the various alpine pastures will receive a souvenir gift. This summer, visitors to Rosskopf can look forward to a truly extraordinary experience: sunrise concerts with a mountain breakfast at the Wishing Bell. In the magical atmosphere of early morning, guests are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Stubai Alps. The adventure begins in the early hours, with the cable car transporting you from Sterzing to 1,860 metres above sea level. From there, accompanied by a hiking guide, you’ll ascend the final 350 metres on foot to the “Köpfl” to witness the sunrise over the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites in the east. At the Wishing Bell, the sunrise concert welcomes the first rays of the new day in a magical atmosphere. A regional mountain breakfast completes the experience. Served high up at 2,120 meters, it is without doubt a truly unique highlight! A total of four concerts offer a great variety. The sunrise concerts begin on 27th of July with a performance by the civic chapel of Sterzing. The band "Elviras Kiss" will follow on 06 th of August, followed the band "Timbreroots" on the 10th August, Jimi Henndreck" on the 27th of August 2025.
