The mountain festival in Gossensass and the Pflersch/Fleres valley. From saturday July 12th to sunday July 27th 2025, everything in Gossensass/Colle Isarco and the Pflersch/Fleres valley will be under the sign of herbs. Traditional herbal dishes, seminars and great hikes will enrich your stay. Get to know the flowers and herbs of the Alps better and take a look at the beneficial power of mountain plants. In addition to the evening mountain dinner at the Edelweisshütte and the herb festival in Ladurns, the highlight of this year's festival is the photo competition.

From the Provincial Mining Museum in Maiern/Ridnaun, trail no. 9 takes us on a relaxed, leisurely hike to the entrance of the wild Burkhardklamm gorge. At the waterfall, we breathe in the finely atomized aerosol of the Fernerbach stream, and the invigorating effect of these healing drops is immediately noticeable. You will experience the health-promoting effect that our scientific study at the Paracelsus Salzburg Private University has shown. We find peace and relaxation by becoming aware of nature with all our senses. The alpine hut Aglsbodenalm invites you to a cozy stop. With Kneipp treatments, we also let the calming power of the water work its magic on us on the way back. Participation in the hike is possible from the age of 6. Coming from Sterzing, follow the signs towards Ridnaun Valley up to Maiern. The meeting point is conveniently accessible by bus line 312 towards Ridnaun/Maiern. It is the last stop. Arrival at 9:38 AM, the tour starts just 5 minutes later! The return trip to Sterzing is possible at 3:05 PM from the same stop. Tip: The guided hike ends around 3:00 PM – the perfect time to join a tour at the Mining Museum, which starts at 3:15 PM. A great way to enjoy both experiences in one day. Mountain hike, starting from Flading (1,485m), via trail no. 30 to the Gleckalm (2,265m - not serviced). The first part of the ascent takes us through predominantly wooded terrain via the so-called Stiegen up to the altitude of the Klammalm. This is followed by a short, flatter section before we tackle the second altitude level. Passing the impressive Gleckbach waterfall, we quickly gain altitude. Another beautiful waterfall, which flows into a deep basin, can be seen at the top of the second altitude step. After reaching the ridge, the plateau of the Gleckalm opens up with great views. Take a picnic break here or at the nearby Gleckalm mountain hut. The return route follows the ascent path in the upper section and then leads us to the Klammalm, where a stop for refreshments is planned. We then descend to Flading via trail no. 12. Total distance: 9.2 km Ascent altitude: 780 m Total duration: 7 hours (including breaks) Difficulty: challenging - short, slightly exposed sections, surefootedness is required, good physical condition is essential. Alpine Gondola Dinner at Rosskopf – A Culinary Experience Above the Clouds On Friday, July 18, 2025, gourmets and nature lovers can look forward to a special highlight: the Alpine Gondola Dinner at Rosskopf. At this exclusive event, selected restaurants from Sterzing will showcase their culinary expertise in a truly unique setting – inside the gondolas of the Rosskopf cable car. Guests will enjoy an exquisite six-course menu served during the ride, where city and mountain come together in an unexpectedly close and harmonious way. The evening begins at the valley station with an Italian aperitif, followed by an extraordinary dining experience served directly in the gondolas, high above the breathtaking mountain landscape with a view of the town of Sterzing. Culinary delights will be prepared by Restaurant Kolping, Restaurant zur Traube, Posthotel Lamm, and Stadthotel Schwarzer Adler. After dessert, an afterparty at Restaurant Biwak with a DJ will round off the evening. The price for this exclusive experience is €130.00 and includes not only the gourmet menu but also a carefully selected wine pairing. A true delight for all the senses, guaranteed to thrill any gourmet’s heart. This event will take place for the second time in the Rosskopf hiking area in the town of Sterzing. On this adventure hike, we immerse ourselves in a time when life still had an uncomplicated course, when there were no access roads to the mountain meadows, the tools were simple and basic, yet sophisticated, and of course there was no smartphone for a long time. We set off on foot and reach the mountain meadow, where we will explore the topic of mountain hay, not just thematically. For this weeks version "Light" we go to a mountain meadow at the end of the Ratschings valley. The exact location has not yet been decided. It will probably be the meadow about 300 m behind the Kneipp facility. The starting point is the Ratschings Jaufen cable car valley station (also accessible by bus), from where we will continue together towards the end of the valley.

The guided bike tour starting from the Rosskopf valley station leads along the bike path towards the south to Stilfes. Via a forest road, you'll reach the small natural pond. Expansive green meadows and a pavilion invite you to take a break. For the little ones, there's a playground... This tour is not offered for children under 10 years of age, except for children transported by parents with a trailer (available for rent at the Outdoor Center). The Bee Trail in Trens Freienfeld is a varied and educational themed hike for the whole family. On this peaceful and adventurous walk, you'll learn all sorts of interesting facts about bees, the creation, and processing of honey, and other bee products such as beeswax, pollen, propolis, and more. At the exploration and observation beehive, you can explore the inner workings of a beehive and learn about the processing of honey and other honey products. Possible with stroller; no risk of bee stings. Tasting of honey at the observation beehive is seasonal. Afterwards, there will be a small tasting at the Hotel Post in Trens. Additional tours: in August also on Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants: minimum 4 and maximum 20 people Registration deadline: one day before by 5:00 p.m.

We start in Maiern in front of the Rent and Go bike rental in the direction of Bergl, go past the birthplace of the Ridnaun giantess and on to the Martalm. From there we cycle along the forest road to the Gewingesalm. After a little refreshment continue to cycle to Entholz and along the Erzweg back to the starting point. With a herbal fairy, we dive into forgotten knowledge to discover the natural powers of alpine plants. The easy hike leads along the valley path of the Pflersch Valley to the herb garden, with its many rarities. At the end, the herb gardeners of the Wipptal invite you to a tasting at the herb manufactory at the Botenhof. From the town's history to architectural styles, relics of mining, and influences of various developments and epochs, you will gain many interesting insights. Every Friday, from the beginning of April to mid-October, farmers from the Sterzing area offer their local quality products at the farmers' market. At the market in the town square of Sterzing, people meet for the weekly purchase of local South Tyrolean products or for a "glass of wine". The varied offer ranges from traditional bacon and “Kaminwurzen” , fresh and smoked trout, cheese and yogurt specialties, homemade bread, organic wines, herbs, honey, eggs to homemade juices and fresh vegetables. Locals and guests have appreciated the market for over a decade now. Tip: Do not miss the delicious “Krapfen and Tirtler” of the Wipptaler farmers' wives!

Since the time of the Romans, wine has been cultivated on the sunny slopes of the Wipptal. Today, 2000 years later, there are once again some pioneers who utilize the milder climate for viticulture. Peter Faistnauer is one of them; he operates the first winery in the Wipptal. Since 2015, he has been cultivating the white wine variety Solaris. After visiting the vineyards, the special wine will be tasted in the old barn. Dogs are not allowed. It is not possible to navigate the paths with a stroller, and the entire tour is not wheelchair accessible. This alpine hike is all about the Sterzing dairy farm and its products. Young and old discover in a playful way where the milk comes from and how the delicious, creamy Sterzing yoghurt is made from it. Interactive stations with exciting questions, tricky puzzles and entertaining games await along the way to the idyllically situated mountain pasture in the Jaufental Valley. If you master all the stations, you will be rewarded with a little surprise at the end at the Bergalm - and mascot Matilda will be waiting for you in the hut. From 8 am - 5 pm the stations are set up on the way to the alpine pasture Bergalm. No registration required!

The "Seven Lakes Tour" is a demanding but truly rewarding hike in the Ridnaun high mountains. We save the first two hours and 600 metres in altitude thanks to the shuttle that takes us from Maiern to the Moarerbergalm. From there we dive into the unmistakable world of the glacier lakes, in whose mostly calm surface shimmering sky spectacles are impressively reflected. For thousands of years, the lakes have been witnesses to the glacial world of the Ice Age. On our circular hike we enjoy the dreamlike view of the Moarer Weißen, also called the Ridnaun Dolomites. Ascent: 2h - 600 vertical meters and 3km (moderately steep) Descent: 4 to 6 hours - 1,350 vertical meters and 11 km (steep and bumpy) A break is made halfway along the Trüber See lake with your own provisions, no stop at a hut is planned. The hike only takes place in optimal weather conditions! Surefootedness, good stamina and a head for heights are necessary for some short passages!

Lush alpine meadows, inviting huts and the majestic Tribulaun within reach! From the valley station (meeting point), we take the cable car to the Ladurns mountain station. The trail first leads past the smal lakes "Ladurner Lacken" and continues along the Dolomieu trail to the Teissljöchl/Edelweißhütte hut. This is followed by a short ascent to the Wastenegg, from where you can enjoy the magnificent panorama of the jagged rock faces of the Tribulaun. Continue slightly downhill to the Teissljöchl and turn left to the hut Edelweißhütte (refreshments available). Finally, an easy hike along a forest path to the Ladurnerhütte, where you will be served a delicious Kaiserschmarrn pancake. Total duration: approx. 4-5h / 400 hm / pure walking time 3h / difficulty: medium. The traditional Brenner market takes place every 5th and 20th of the month throughout the year. If this day falls on a Sunday or public holiday, then the market takes place on Saturday before. At the market stalls many different interesting things, such as clothing, utensils and goodies for snacking are waiting. The market takes place every summer from 8.30 to 14.30 During the winter months, it opens from 9.00 to 14:00

Enjoy a relaxing summer evening in the show garden at the Farm Botenhof in the Pflersch Valley, right in the heart of the Wipptal Herb Gardens. With a refreshing aperitif in hand, you can discover the healing world of local alpine plants in a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Listen to fascinating stories and uncover the secrets of the herbs that thrive in this natural setting. The event lasts about 1.5 hours and no registration is required. Participation fee is 5,00€ per person – free with the activeCARD Gossensass.

Petting, feeling the soft fur, putting on a halter, and walking a course with the llamas. What could be more beautiful than the ideal interaction between animal and human? Llamas, with their loving and gentle character, immediately captivate children and also enchant adults. Llama trekking is ONLY for children (from 6 to 14 years old). Experience a breathtaking e-bike tour from Sterzing up to the high alpine natural paradise of Pfitsch - one of the last untouched valleys in South Tyrol. Together with a local guide, you will discover hidden places, enjoy the fresh mountain air and reach the impressive Pfitsch waterfall as the highlight. There you can dangle your feet in the ice-clear glacier water while exciting stories about the surrounding area are told. Who is it suitable for? This tour is aimed at anyone who wants to actively experience nature. Children under the age of 10 can be taken along, provided they are transported in a trailer (available for rent at the Outdoor Center). The tour starts at the Ratschings valley station in front of the Rent and Go bike rental. We follow the Pfeifer Huisele path along country lanes and forest roads towards the Klammalm. From here onwards, the technical riders are in their element. The trail towards Wumblsalm has it all. This is followed by a short descent across meadows before a partly challenging section leads to the highest point of the tour, the Wasserfalleralm. Here we enjoy a long break with good food. Strengthened, we follow a fantastic panoramic trail to the Rinneralm. The last few kilometers are downhill on the toboggan run back to the starting point. Length: approx. 22 km Elevation gain: approx. 840 m Difficulty: intermediate (technically demanding sections and some hike-a-bike segments) Registration only from the age of 15.

During the treasure hunt in the great outdoors, we learn all kinds of interesting facts about the different breeds of cows in South Tyrol, why a cow produces milk and how butter used to be made. As we continue our walk to the Kneipp area, we go in hunt of dairy products and finally get to shake and taste butter ourselves. Who can solve the exciting quizzes and follow the trail of the treasure hunt? We then visit the animals on the farm and finish with a delicious yogurt ice cream.

During a herbal walk, we learn about the most important local plants and their uses. We then make a tincture and an oil extract with plant material under instruction. We then use these extracts to make various products together (e.g. lip balm, insect bite roller, ointment ...). Afterwards, the participants can take home 1 product of each of the treasures they have made (with the corresponding instructions for production and recipe).
