Sunset hike on the Zinseler

From the agreed meeting point at the parking lot at the freeway exit, we set off - ideally in carpools - towards the top of the Penser Joch (the transition between the Eisacktal Valley and the Sarntal Valley). Alternatively, by prior arrangement, anyone who wishes can drive directly to the parking lots below the Penser Joch, the starting point of our hike. From this position, our path leads mostly along the ridge, gently ascending and not very difficult, always accompanied by breathtaking views. Our destination is the summit of the Zinseler (2,422 m), from where we can enjoy an impressive panoramic view. The panorama stretches from the glaciers of the eastern main Alpine ridge over the Pustertal valley to the Dolomites in the south and extends westwards over the Sarntal Alps to the Swiss border. The view down into the valley basin of Sterzing is particularly impressive, where the lights of the old town and the striking Zwölferturm tower create a picturesque scene. The highlight of our tour will undoubtedly be the unforgettable sunset, which transforms the sky into a fascinating play of colors.
