Since 2 generations we present our customers with quality carvings. Our carvings are made by hand, so we attach great importance to the elaboration of each figure.

Quality is important ...

Fresh and best ingredients are our top priority. "Purity Law" for bread: For our breads we only use water, flour, yeast and salt. In addition come grains and spices, all natural additives. In our white bread you can find only vegetarian vegetable oil! Baking mixes are taboo, the sourdough is of course set itself.

The well is located in the Höhlensteintal valley, a few 100 metres south of the war cemetery, next to the AVS hut.

In the Technoshop in Sesto you will find hardware, household and electrical appliances as well as numerous handicraft accessories.

The location of the chapel on the highest point of the San Silvestro Valley, has been identified as a prehistoric hillfort. Pre-christian sanctuaries were mostly build in such high located spots. It is therefore possible that also the San Silvestro Chapel was one of the pre-german shepherd's sacred places with a sacrificial altar.

This drinking water fountain is located directly in the village center of Schmieden/Ferrara, next to the church and is freely accessible free of charge.
In the course of the project "Respect the Mountains", the certified fountains of the municipality of Prags/Braies were collected and published. The fountain next to the church is one of the fountains in Prags/Braies, which reflects this project. The fountains invite you to fill up reusable bottles with fresh and high-quality drinking water.

Exhibition "Traces of history"  the Great War in the old school in Sexten / Sesto:

Many areas of the Dolomites are in the process of setting up projects to enhance the historical testimony of the Great War. Sesto di Pusteria was both victim and protagonist of this tragedy. Sesto di Pusteria is the only place of Germanic language and culture belonging to the Austro-Hungarian Empire to find itself at the front line, undergoing forced evacuation and displacement, and then, together with other places of the South Tyrol, being annexed to Italy. This chance set of events makes Sesto an emblematic place to tell the history of this period, not only for the Tyrolean citizens of today but for all the inhabitants of Europe. The vicissitudes of the civilian population and of the soldiers during this extremely important moment in history have so far surprisingly been neglected, undoubtedly because of the upheaval following the end of the war and annexation to Italy. Given the considerable interest in the First World War that is now emerging in Europe, Sesto has unique and inestimable contribution to make. The Associazione Bellum Aquilarum (Bellum Aquilarum historical association) aims to save from oblivion the surviving testimony to this tragedy in order to preserve it so that it can be handed down to future generations, not only to the young people of Pusteria, but also to those living in places once belonging to the former Austro-Hungarian Empire that were the scenes of battle here. The tragedy experienced so deeply at Sesto and in Pusteria is askin to that of many other areas of Europe which were on the front line or which, after the war, witnessed the havoc brougth on by territorial annexation. The ensuing cultural, historical and political schism was immense; without doubt, these events changed Pusteria but also Europe itself, and today - in a European perspective enabling the age-old tensions issuing from the war to be overcome - preserving these memories can aid us in the construction of our common future.

 

Specialities of the Val Pusteria have been produced for 50 years at the butcher's Nocker in Dobbiaco. They have remained faithful to their company philosophy for decades. Only the best is good enough for their customers.

The old tradition of producing sausage and bacon and specialities is cultivated carefully and in the highest perfection.  Despite innovative technology, manual skills are furthermore most essential, as quality and taste are the guarantee for the popularity of the offered products. Many of them are still produced according to old traditional recipes.

In our ski rental you can get equipment for cross country skiing (cross country skies of the brands Madhus and Fisher) and alpine skiing (carving skies for beginners of the brand Dynastar). We also have Snow shoes, Sledges, Helmets and Toboggans for kids.

The most beautiful baroque church of the Pusteria Valley, built on the foundations of a Roman and later Gothic church. Rudolf Schraffl, an architect from Dobbiaco, was commissioned to plan and oversee the consturuction works. The bell Tower, situated North-west of the main nave, was completed in 1804.

Villabassa is a tranquil village with attractive shops: Grocers, bakery, butcher, newsagent and tobacconist, pharmacy, sports shop and fashion boutiques offer an interesting range. You can also watch cobblers, weavers and wood carvers at work and purchase their products.

Emma Hellensteiner (23 April 1818 - 9 March 1904)

Emma Hellenstainer was a charismatic host, an excellent cook and a pioneer for tourism in the Alpine region. The “Schwarzer Adler” (Black Eagle), as the Hotel Emma was known then, became known far beyond the country’s borders. Her charm captivated guests from all over the world. Visitors from Germany, Great Britain, Italy - they all came to Villabassa because of the beautiful local landscape, but mainly because of Emma and her engaging personality.

The 3-mountain shop in Dobbiaco places great value on sustainable products and tries to use biological and environmentally friendly materials. The shop mainly offers leisure fashion, but skiers and hikers can also get their money's worth there.

The hiking guide accompanies you on the mountain hike and hiking tour. They offer also climbing courses.

The fountain is located on the border of the municipal territory of Dobbiaco, in a southerly direction, towards Cortina.

The Carnic mountain ridge appears almost insignificant compared to the stately Dolomite rock towers on the opposite side of the Sesto valley. But this impression is deceiving! From Sesto, you can not only reach the Tre Cime Dolomiti, a popular and panoramic hiking and skiing area, but also the western foothills of a mountain range that stretches for over 100 km, almost to Villach in Carinthia. Interesting detail: The Carnic Alps were formed long before the Dolomites. Numerous fossil finds indicate a turbulent, geological past. However, the mountain range also has great historical importance, as it forms part of the Italian-Austrian border. Those who want to experience a border passing on high tracks can walk from the Monte Elmo peak (2,434 m) past the Helmhaus and along the ridge - with their left foot in Austria and the right one in Italy. This is also the starting point of the popular Carnic high route, also called the "peace route", which leads in eight to eleven days of walking to Arnoldstein in Carinthia.

A family of giant snowmen

Gigantic, friendly, and as white as snow, the giant snowmen will greet you with a smile in the winter wonderland at the mountain station of the Croda Rossa cable car in the skiresort 3 Peaks in the Dolomites. Funnily enough, the family of snow men appear almost tiny against the backdrop of the impressive peaks of the Dolomites. Their true dimensions only become truly apparent once you ski past.

The church of St. Mary is built in Gothic style. The Gothic middle relief and the side figures are significant. From the church there starts a path of meditation which leads to the chapel San Pietro in Monte/St. Peter am Kofl.
