The guided hike with Günther leads through old farmsteads and mountain restaurants, through sloping vineyards, chestnut groves and orchards. You will have the possibility to learn more about typical farms and the winegrowing during a wine tasting at the Prackfoler farm. The lunch with traditional dishes at the Innerperskoler farm inn is not only a culinary pleasure, it helps you to recharge your batteries for the hike back to the starting point. Wine tasting: the three wines from the Prackfolerhof will be tasted. Children receive juices for free. Lunch: The price includes appetizer, main course ("Schlachtplatte"), chestnuts (if available) and sweet "Krapfen". Drinks have to be paid extra.

Traditional Transhumance with Festivities and Folk Music. In October, it’s time for the cattle, horses, goats, and sheep that spent the summer on the Seiser Alm to return to the valley. On the Seiser Alm, the Transhumance is traditionally celebrated on Rosary Saturday, the Saturday before the Harvest Festival. Starting at 10:30 a.m., cows adorned with flower wreaths and bells fill the streets of Compatsch. The colorful herd of around 250 cattle, sheep, horses, and goats, along with decorated carts, then heads towards the valley and Kastelruth around midday. Festivities on the Seiser Alm in Compatsch begin at 10:00 a.m. with commentary - the „Goasslschnalzern“, alphorn players, the dance group „Alpler Plattler Gitschen“, the brass band "St. Martin in Thurn", the music group "Schlernblech", a farmers' market, and demonstrations of old farming crafts. Food and drink will be provided. Festivities in Kastelruth start at 10:00 a.m. with commentary - For many years, it has been a tradition to celebrate the return from the Alm with music, dancing, food, and drink. The Farmers' Buffet and the Hunting Association of Kastelruth will provide refreshments at the entrance to Kastelruth, along the beautiful promenade. The Alphorn players, the Garner „Schuhplattler“, the „Goasslschnalzer“ and the musical group „Schlernwind“ will provide entertainment. The festive procession with the animals and their handlers is expected to arrive in Kastelruth around 1:30 p.m. We recommend that you watch the entire Transhumance from the Seiser Alm to Kastelruth, as not all animals make it to Kastelruth. Some farmers take their animals to their farms before reaching Kastelruth. You can easily reach the Seiser Alm with the Seiser Alm Cable Car from Seis am Schlern. On this special day, you can use the Seis-Seiser Alm Cable Car at a special price of €14.00 (round trip)! Buses no. 3, 3A and 172 run between the Seiser Alm cable car and Kastelruth. Please note the road closures: after a certain time, no buses will run to Kastelruth, so you may need to travel to Telfen and walk from there to Kastelruth. Tour buses can reach the Seiser Alm before 9:00 a.m. Since the road will be closed for return traffic until 2:00 p.m., tour buses can only drive down after 2:00 p.m. Alternatively, tour buses can park at the Seiser Alm Cable Car station, and guests can reach the Seiser Alm by cable car. In Kastelruth, tour buses can drop off guests at the bus station and then park at the "Tirlerhof" parking lot, 1 km away. Please pay attention to road closures.

Traditional transhumance with entertainment and folk music. Back home, this is the ideal reference for livestock, including cows, horses, sheep and goats after a summer spent on the Alpe di Siusi returning to their stables. The transhumance accompanied by a celebration takes place on the Saturday just before the feast of the harvest. This year the event takes place on 4th October 2025. Accompanied by bells and wreaths the animals inhabit the area of Compaccio at 10am. The colourful herd consisting of 250 animals, some carts and some classic-style tractors will leave the Alpe di Siusi at this very time.

Thanksgiving Day in Kastelruth is an annual event where the people of the community express their gratitude for a successful harvest year. On the day of the celebration a Holy Mass is held, followed by a procession through the streets of the village. The procession starts at the church and goes through the streets of Kastelruth, while the villagers sing their harvest songs. At the end of the procession, the congregation gathers in the village square, where our local parish priest concludes the Mass and gives God's blessing to all those present.

A special event awaits you at the cattle drive in St. Zyprian on the Platzliner meadow! The festivities start at 11:00 am, and around 1:30 pm, the beautifully decorated cattle will return from the alpine pastures to the valley – a colorful spectacle that brings tradition and culture to life. There will be lively music and entertainment, and of course, delicious regional specialties to satisfy your appetite. The farming associations of Tiers am Rosengarten look forward to welcoming you in great numbers for an unforgettable day together!

At 10.00 a.m. the cattle will be decorated at the Malga Tuff from where they will be driven to Fiè. They will arrive at Fiè at approximately 11.30 a.m. or 12.00 p.m. At 1.00 p.m. there will be benediction of the cattle followed by a festival at the festival place Völs.

On local soil, fans of the "Kastelruther Spatzen" have the opportunity to be truly enchanted. The Schlern area, home of the popular "Kastelruther Spatzen", is transformed into a festival area. The "heroes of folk music" provide - surrounded by a unique backdrop of the Dolomites - for mood at the traditional festival of the "Kastelruther Spatzen". A big parking area and an enormous festival tent are built up to celebrate with the "Kastelruther Spatzen" for three days of morning pint, autograph sessions and nice evenings. Also the songs of the Spatzen sound nowhere so well as at home in Kastelruth. Tour Description: We take bus line 176 from Tiers to Ums. Starting in Ums, we follow trail no. 4, which leads us through an enchanting forest and across the Schlernbach stream. The ascent is steep, but together we’ll make it—and the view from Tschafonleger and the Tschafon Hut at 1,728 meters rewards our effort. We’ll take a short detour to the Völseggspitze before returning via trail no. 4A. The descent leads past the picturesque Wuhnleger to Weißlahnbad, where we’ll end the hike together. Lovingly decorated stalls offer a wide range of gift ideas: handcrafted items, nativity figurines, South Tyrolean specialties, aromatic herbs, candles, and much more invite visitors to stroll and browse in a cozy atmosphere. With a warming mulled wine, fragrant Christmas cookies, or the popular homemade "Kastelruther Krapfen," guests can enjoy the sounds of Christmas music, escape the hustle and bustle of the season, and take in some peaceful, reflective moments. The musical program features alpine horn players, brass ensembles, choirs, and singing groups from the region. Highlights: On Saturday, December 13, the traditional Krampus Run will take place starting at 5:00 PM. On Friday, December 19, 2025, the Kastelruther Spatzen will give their traditional Christmas concert in the tennis hall in Telfen/Kastelruth. Before the concert, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, there will be an autograph session with the band at the Christmas market – accompanied by musical performances from the Alhorn players Seiser Alm and the Kastelruther „Turmbläser“. On Friday, December 19, 2025, the Kastelruther Spatzen invite you to their atmospheric Christmas concert, taking place at the Telfen Tennis Hall in Kastelruth. This year, the concert will be held exclusively on Friday – a special evening full of music, emotion, and festive spirit awaits all visitors. In the afternoon, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, fans will have the chance to meet the Kastelruther Spatzen in person: an autograph session with the popular musicians will take place at the Christmas market in Kastelruth. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Alphorn Players and the "Kastelruther Turmbläser", creating a festive atmosphere. Admission to the concert begins at 3:00 PM at the Telfen Tennis Hall. From this time on, food and refreshments will be available. The concert itself starts at 5:00 PM, when the Kastelruther Spatzen will perform their most beautiful and heartfelt Christmas songs – a touching musical experience, perfect for the Advent season.
