The Sand in Taufers Food Festival - often copied but never equaled - is once again the meeting place for lovers of good food and entertainment in the fresh air. Four moody Tuesday nights reserved for fun and good taste!

All running enthusiasts and those who want to become one are warmly welcome.

There are few places more eerie than the castle at night time. For hundreds of years ghosts have been making mischief there during the dark hours. There are many tales we can tell you of them and, on very special nights, you may even encounter them yourself! Intensively you will discover the healing high-altitude air, which is clean and free of toxic elements. At the nature-bath we will try some Kneipp-exercises with cold water and walk on a barefoot-way and at the same time the immune-system will be strengthened.

Now things are getting tasty! Together we go into the dewy garden where we pick the freshest of fresh ingredients and then call in at the farm to collect eggs before getting down to work. We cook local, simple and unique dishes in the cookery school of our indulgence ambassador, Tina Marcelli. Along with Tina and her team there’ll be sizzling and spills... before we taste what we have created! Bon appetit!

On foot to the highest, year-round organic mountain farm Kofler in Rein. Organic farmer Irmgard accompanies the tour of the house and farm and invites you to a small tasting of her home-made products. Followed by a leisurely walk back to Rein/Riva.

The special exhibition to mark the 800th anniversary of the Castle of Taufers focuses on a medieval and social theme: the relationship between the nobility and the peasantry. The exhibition, curated by Marie Rubner and the Südtiroler Burgeninstitut, can be seen at Castle Taufers from April 18 to November 2, 2025.
The beginning of the 16th century was characterized by social, economic and religious changes. Serfdom severely restricted the rights of the lower classes and forced them to pay additional taxes to aristocratic feudal lords and the clergy. In 1525, the call for equality, justice and freedom grew louder and louder. Discontent soon turned violent and the Peasants’ War broke out like wildfire in Central Europe. 2025 marks the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the peasant revolt. To mark the anniversary, the exhibition “500 Years: Peasants‘ War - Striving for Freedom” allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history of this period.

It's a challenge, but doable: the most beautiful 2,000-meter peaks in the Ahrntal Valley. The route starts in Weißenbach/Rio Bianco and continues to the Schönbergalm hut, then on to the Schönberg summit (2.273 m). Beautiful mountain with great views on the south side of the Zillertal Alps

A ramble with herbal educator, Ingrid: familiarise yourself with healing herbs, cultivating a herb garden, making tasty, medicinal products and using them correctly. And at the end: a joint tasting session! Tour only in German or Italian.

The nature park rangers show you the animals that live here, how to recognise their tracks and how they live in their habitat. As young researchers, you can find out all kinds of exciting things and learn a lot about nature – outside in the fresh air or in the nature park visitor centre. And afterwards it’s time to get really creative, as we make something fantastic from nature’s treasures. Let’s go!

Discover the midday air - Your time to breathe

Climb aboard the mine railway and let yourself be carried leisurely into the mountain. Once you arrive in the Climate gallery area, an atmosphere of tranquility awaits you: gentle sounds and soothing music accompany your relaxation. Wrapped in warm blankets and with a hot water bottle, you can lean back while a herbal tea warms you from the inside. Take time to breathe in and savour the pure, cool tunnel air.

The special microclimate underground - cool, moist and pure - supports your airways and helps you to switch off completely. Even chronic respiratory illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis or sinus problems can be noticeably alleviated.

Take a breather - in the heart of the mountain. Price: €19.00, Duration: 1h15min Times: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 1pm; Please come to the location at least 20 minutes prior to your booked time slot. Warm clothes are required and sturdy footwear for the entry into the gallery is recommended. Helmets and raincoats are provided by the Museum. Access to the Climate gallery is only permitted in clean slippers or trainers/shoes. Please bring a clean change of shoes. Upon request, the museum will provide felt slippers free of charge.

On a leisurely walk through the forest, you’ll get up close with our fluffy companions. Back at the farm, enjoy Heidi’s delicious apple strudel—made with apples from our meadow orchard—served alongside freshly brewed coffee.

The tour begins in the grain store of Steinhaus, the former warehouse of the mining industry. Afterwards, our guides will lead you through the historic centre of Steinhaus, a unique sight in South Tyrol that was created thanks to the mining industry. The striking red houses, such as the factor house, the Gassegg residence and the church Maria Loreto, as well as the smelting hut are explained. A walk through the centuries old history of the "Ahrner Handel".
