The hike starts at the “Obertelfes/Telves di Sopra” bus stop, just a few minutes’ walk from the fire station. The well-maintained trail no. 5 ascends gradually through woodland to the Freundalm mountain hut. Continue on the same trail until reaching a junction, where you follow trail no. 5A to the right towards the Kuhalm mountain hut.
Note: the route follows gravel tracks and short sections of paved road, entirely avoiding forest trails. It is therefore well suited to mountain bikes.

The starting point can be reached by bus line 315 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Thuins/Tunes – Telfes/Telves). Get off at the “Obertelfes/Telves di Sopra” stop. Further information on timetables and connections is available at www.suedtirolmobil.info/en.
From Sterzing, follow the road to Telfes. Once you reach Obertelfes, the starting point of the hike is located at the fire station on the left-hand side of the road.
Parking is available near the fire station in Obertelfes.
