You start at the large parking lot in the Winnebachtal valley and follow the broad track marked trail no. 23. The route initially climbs gently and leads to the Astnerbergalm. From here, it becomes steeper: the trail passes the waterfall before a flatter section leads to the Tiefrastenhütte and Tiefrastensee.
From the hut, the route continues along trail no. 25 to the Kempspitze at 2,704 metres. This section requires sure-footedness and is suitable only for experienced mountaineers. You reach the summit via the western flank, where sweeping panoramic views await.
The descent follows the same route back to the parking lot in the Winnebachtal valley, the finishing point of the tour.
