Saint John’s Chapel in the Castle Welsperg

Welsberg/Monguelfo, Welsberg-Taisten/Monguelfo-Tesido
St. John’s Chapel at Welsperg Castle – Gothic chapel (1510) with 16th-century secco paintings.
from center

St. John’s Chapel at Welsperg Castle was consecrated on 12 November 1510 and is a fine example of Gothic architecture. Located outside the main castle walls and accessible from the small courtyard, it features three pointed-arch windows and a flat wooden ceiling later adorned with Baroque stucco. Recent renovations revealed rare 16th-century secco paintings depicting a Crucifixion scene.
