Steeped in lore and legend, the St. Vigil church is a particularly special spot: On two significant days of the year, namely the equinoxes, the shadow of the Schlern mountain falls upon the church on the astronomically-defined date that marks the change of seasons.
This hiking tour can be found in the family hiking booklet “Out and About with Nix the Witch”.
From the village centre, walk past the Hotel Enzian and take the Oswald Weg trail down to the Peterlungerhof farm. Just before you get to the farm, turn left onto trail no. 7A. If you continue along this trail (7A), you will pass the 500-year-old Malenger mill. Below the mill, the trail branches off onto the tarred road; turn left here, and a few short steps will take you to the St. Vigil church. Enthusiastic hikers can hike back to Seis along the same route. Before you return to the village centre, a detour along the Feldererweg trail passing the Furscher mill and the idyllically-located pond is well worth your while. From here, the Burgfriedenstrasse road leads back to Seis.
Alternatively, you can take bus no. 177 from St. Vigil back to your set-off point.
Refreshment stop along the hiking trail. Not pram-friendly.
