The ‘Concerto Lirico’ takes place at the classical Lyceum in Bolzano in collaboration with Unuci Bolzano (Unione Nazionale Ufficiali in Congedo). The Giuseppe Verdi Lyric Choir from Bolzano and the Coro Estrolirica from Trento will be performing.

Floating Angel, a video work by Indra Moroder, winner of the project The Red Boat, is a powerful cinematic reflection on female vulnerability, resilience, and solidarity. Created within the framework of The Red Boat – Artists Against Violence Towards Women, the work adds a deeply personal and poetic dimension to the artistic engagement with themes of violence and liberation. After the screening, Indra Moroder and Christine Clignon will discuss artistic perspectives on violence prevention, feminist media practice, and empowerment. Christine Clignon, journalist, podcaster, and feminist activist, is the author of the podcast series CI VOGLIAMO VIVE. Prevenire i femminicidi and FREE! The Strength of Women for a Life Free from Violence. The Italian series CI VOGLIAMO VIVE examines femicides without voyeurism – with empathy, solidarity, and a call for shared civic courage: prevention is only possible when justice, police, social and health services, schools, the media, and every single person act together. The bilingual podcast FREE! tells, in twelve twenty-minute episodes, true stories of women who found their way out of violent relationships – honest, emotional, and inspiring. It raises awareness and shows how much strength lies in new beginnings. After the talk, Indra Moroder will read a selection of her poems. How can cultural institutions or initiatives convert their social responsibility into effective, lasting impact – beyond symbolic gestures – in the face of accelerating ecological, social, and political transformations? And crucially: who participates in defining this mandate? These urgent questions lie at the heart of Culture as a Commons, a three-day international forum that brings together 12 selected cultural initiatives from the Netherlands and Italy. In the framework of this gathering at Museion, they will open up and share best practice strategies, visions, and formats beyond institutional boundaries, exploring culture as a common good – as a space of “commoning”. Rather than codifying fixed answers, the forum seeks to uncover both potential and limitations in current cultural work, through foregrounding experimental formats, porous collaborations, and gentle forms of activism. It encourages situated, responsive strategies to address challenges of social relevance, participation, and sustainability, including those raised in the 2022 redefinition of the museum by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). True to its spirit, this particular symposium represents a commons itself: it is participatory, publicly accessible, and invites cultural practitioners from diverse backgrounds – as well as everyone who sees culture as an inclusive and collective practice and a catalyst for social change – to engage, exchange, and reflect. This exhibition is part of the interdisciplinary research project “Curating Bolzano Fascist Legacies. A Sustainable Approach to a City’s Dissonant Heritage”. The project began in 2022 and involved designers, art historians, architects and design historians. The project – which benefited from the collaboration of BAU Institute for Contemporary Art and Ecology, the Lungomare cooperative and the Department of Architectural History and Curatorial Studies at the Technical University of Munich, and was supported by the Municipality of Bolzano – was divided into two parts: on the one hand, it developed in-depth research on the traces of Fascist-era interventions still present in the urban public space, which make Bolzano a fascinating subject of study as a border city where the Fascist system is still clearly visible and where different perceptions of the past coexist, not always harmoniously. On the other hand, it explored how the results of the research could be made accessible not only to experts, but to the city as a whole and therefore to its inhabitants. The exhibition brings together the considerations that emerged during the research with a selection of archival materials and a number of artistic interventions that, over time, have seen various practitioners confront the multiple meanings of the marks left by fascism on the urban fabric. The exhibition focuses on the traces that remain in public spaces, collective memory and archives, testing their resonances and dissonances, inviting a more conscious relationship with public space, capable of opposing its possible exploitation.

At the Grieserhof in Bolzano, the St. Elisabeth Foundation presents the exhibition “Encounter with Nature”, dedicated to the artist Jette Christiansen. The initiative was born from the desire to create a space for dialogue between art, nature, and inner reflection — in line with the cultural and social commitment that has always characterized the Foundation.

The exhibition brings together works from the past ten years, in which the artist explores the deep connection between human beings and landscape, between matter and perception. With courage — and perhaps a touch of provocation — Jette Christiansen describes her oil paintings as “untimely.” As long as no one can clearly define what “contemporary” truly means, the call for permanent modernity remains suspended. Unconcerned with trends or debates in the current art scene, Christiansen continues to follow her creative path with consistency — one of silence, authenticity, and attentive observation.

The opening will be introduced by Christian Klotzner, President of the St. Elisabeth Foundation, with contributions from Leonhard Niedermair, Mathias Frei, and Thomas Mulser, Administrative Director of the Grieserhof. A refreshment reception will follow, offering a pleasant moment of exchange and conversation.

The Grieserhof, venue of the exhibition, stands as a symbol of openness, community, and dialogue — a place where art becomes a bridge and a means of human connection.

Curated by Frida Carazzato with the collaboration of the Fondazione Bonotto, through the curatorial advice of Patrizio Peterlini, the exhibition uses the museum collection to explore the cultural legacy and artistic vision of Francesco Conz. This important figure, who worked with Fluxus, Visual Poetry and Concrete Poetry artists, played a decisive role in disseminating these artistic practices in Italy and abroad. The title of the exhibition is taken from a work by Gerhard Rühm, a visual artist, musician, poet and co-founder of the Wiener Gruppe, and one of the first artists with whom Francesco Conz began producing large-format editions. The “You and the Night and the Music” title stimulates reflections on the relationship between art, time and the links between artists, collectors and museum institutions. The conjunction “and” in the artwork becomes, in the title of the exhibition, a metaphor for both the network of cultural connections that has given rise to one of the main hubs in the Museion collection and the figure of Conz, whose passion bound together artistic and human experiences. A number of collectors and art critics, in fact, have played a fundamental role in the history of the museum collection. People like Paolo Della Grazia, who donated his collection to the museum in 2020, Luigi Bonotto, Henry Martin and many others, have helped to create an artistic heritage that is now an essential reference point for the study of neo-avant-gardes. Thanks to their activities, Museion has been able to enrich its collection with a body of works that bears witness to the value of publishing and screenprint production as a means of disseminating contemporary art. The exhibition is located in the central area of Museion Passage, a space designed to host dynamic installations that are open to the public. The central and corner sections – the latter can be visited until November 16 2025 – present a selection of screenprints on canvas produced by Conz and designed to be easy to transport and exhibit in various contexts. These works interact through videos, artists’ multiples and other editions to create an experience that reflects on the art of publishing both as an artistic tool and as an effective space of cross-genre exchange, in harmony with the Fluxus spirit.

On October 10 at 7 pm, Museion is proud to open the first retrospective in Italy dedicated to the work of Nicola L. (b. 1932, Morocco; d. 2018, USA). From the 1960s onwards, the French artist developed an equally playful and activist practice. Blurring the boundaries between various media such as sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, performance, and film, her work is imbued with subversive wit and the ideals of equality and collectivity. As part of the new Museion research line, THE SOFTEST HARD, the exhibition celebrates art as a social and urban practice of non-violent resistance and as an invitation to connect in times of crisis.

Museion presents What We Carry, an exhibition that interweaves contemporary art with the core values of the Milano Cortina Cultural Olympiad 2026: inclusion, sustainability, and legacy. Featuring newly commissioned works and research by Sonia Leimer and Christian Kosmas Mayer, together with a landmark collection of 43 Olympic torches (1936–2024), the project explores how the design and symbolism of the torches intersect with questions of power, visibility, and cultural legacy. What We Carry evokes the way these values are passed from hand to hand—like the torches themselves—creating a living legacy where art meets sport. With the exhibition Museion joins the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol in its mission to strengthen the region’s cultural identity and role as a hub for international exchange. At the heart of the installation, Sonia Leimer’ expansive setting unveils a 50-meter infinity-shaped sculpture that refers to a running track and doubles as a pedestal for 42 of the Olympic torches, on loan from the Olympic Aid and Sport Promotion Project. This dynamic sculptural display transforms the torches into a powerful reflection on continuity and change, and the evolving values of the Olympic Games. Known for her sculptural and video work, Leimer often explores how physical spaces and everyday objects reflect shifting social narratives. In this project, she brings those concerns into the exhibition space, inviting viewers to consider how we engage with objects and how their meanings evolve over time.

ARTIFICES: THE CREATORS OF ART The exhibition “Artifices: The Creators of Art” is the third chapter of the long-term project “Stories of Art with the Great Museums”, promoted by the Department of Italian Culture of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano–South Tyrol in collaboration with major Italian museums. Created with the National Roman Museum, the exhibition explores the evolution of Roman artistic production from the Republican period to the late Empire. Through sculptures, inscriptions, and everyday artefacts, it reveals the world of artisans and workshops that shaped Rome’s material and cultural identity. Highlights include a group of fine sculptures from a late Republican villa, displayed in a setting that evokes an elegant Roman residence, and a replica of the Discobolus (Lancellotti type) from the Omero Tactile Museum in Ancona, in dialogue with the celebrated original at Palazzo Massimo.

Toni Servillo, Giuliana De Sio, Vinicio Marchioni, Alessandro Haber, Teresa Saponangelo, Silvio Orlando, Gabriele Lavia, Neri Marcorè, and many other leading figures of the international theatre scene are part of the 2025/2026 season of the Teatro Stabile, taking place in Bolzano. This year’s season includes 12 subscription events and a special performance featuring Stefano Massini.
