Dive into the fascinating world of traditional dance with the folk dance group of Ortisei. Experience an exhilarating performance as we dance with lively steps and graceful movements through the pedestrian area of Ortisei. Let yourself be carried away by our energy and passion for traditional dance, and discover the cultural diversity of our community in a truly special way! The folk dance group “Grupa Balarins de Gherdëina Urtijëi” was founded in 1963 and has been active without interruption since then. The group dances traditional folk dances based on a long tradition thereunder typical dances for thanksgiving, dances having the intent to attract the other gender and also typical “Schuhplattler”. The “Schuhplattler” dances are demonstrated by male dancers only. All dancers are wearing the “Grödner-Tracht” (traditional costume) which is known as one of the most beautiful and most precious of the alpine area. Due to numerous performances in our country as well as abroad and on TV, the group is very well known far beyond South Tyrol.

Every Tuesday evening, the traditional artisan and farmers' market takes place in S. Cristina, offering visitors the chance to experience the diversity of South Tyrolean craftsmanship. In addition to showcasing traditional products, there are opportunities to taste and purchase a variety of specialties. -- La sciorta de Saslonch -- From S. Cristina you walk to the Monte Pana. From here, take the Mont de Sëura chairlift to just below the Sassolungo. The trail leads over long pastures and then continues along a spectacular switchback path that heads into the magnificent saddle, between Sassolungo and Punta delle Cinque Dita. From there you follow a forest road to the Mastlé Alp and continue to the Juac hut at 2.120 m, which is also the highest point you will reach during this tour. The descent is speckled with mesmerizing ponds and clearings. The tour includes a passage at the feet of the ruins of the Wolkenstein Castle at the entrance of Vallunga. The way back to S. --Cun la roda al lech de Sëuc-- From Selva di Val Gardena follow the path of the old railway line towards Ortisei, from there cycle on an asphalt which leads up to Passo Pinei. Just before Castelrotto, turn left towards Tiosels. On a forest road pass St. Valentin and reach the valley station of the Seiser Alm cable car. From there, continue until you reach the Pond of Fiè. --L luech da paur -- On a farm there is always something happening: here the diversity of nature can be lived day after day. When you visit the Tiscion farm, you will see the horses, cows, hens, ducks, goats and sheep in their stables, stroke the rabbits and hear some stories about the daily life on a mountain farm. The Villanders Music Band was first officially mentioned in 1803, making it one of the oldest in South Tyrol. Today, the Villanders Music Band has approximately 45 active members and 8 honorary members. It is currently led by the Villanders conductor Hannes Pupp. In addition to traditional events such as the St. Cecilia Concert, the Easter Concert, and numerous church celebrations, the annual fundraising performances on New Year’s Eve, in May, and on St. Martin’s Day are special highlights for the musicians and the Villanders community. Moreover, the traditional costumes worn by the musicians, the "Marketenderinnen", and the flag bearer are among the most traditional in the region.

From 25 June to 06 August, the Nives Square in Selva will host the traditions and tastes market, where you can admire the beauty of local handicrafts and taste and purchase regional delicacies.

--Sun Bullacia-- The starting point of this demanding hike is the Panidersattel. From there, the trail leads uphill over hill and dale to Bulla. The rest of the trail leads along the Schnürlsteig trail to Puflatsch, which offers a fantastic panorama of the surrounding mountain groups. Due to the steep characteristic, absolute surefootedness is required. Once you arrive on Seiser Alm, you can enjoy the breathtaking panorama and a good lunch in one of the mountain huts. Between three and seven farms built and managed the municipal mills in the gorge of Bulla.
