It has now become a tradition, the Kastelruth farmers' wedding. This is a faithful re-enactment of a historical peasant wedding, as was customary at the foot of the Seiser Alm. Thanks to the involvement of the many participants, who proudly wear and present the old traditional costumes, the event has developed into one of the most magnificent traditional costume shows in South Tyrol. The highlight of the spectacle is the wedding procession from St. Anna (Wegmacher farm) to the center of Kastelruth. Dressed in traditional costumes, the wedding party parades into the center of Kastelruth on magnificently decorated horse-drawn sleighs, taking visitors on a journey back in time to the 19th century. Traffic will be diverted via Dolomitenstraße, Plattenstraße, and Telfen. Public buses, residents, and emergency vehicles are exempt from this rule. - The total closure of the Krausenplatz, O.v. Wolkenstein-Str. from the beginning to the Garni Schönblick building, and Dr. G. Fontana-Str. from the beginning to the end from 14:05 to 14:55 for all vehicle traffic. Emergency vehicles are excluded. There will also be a diversion via Dolomitenstraße, Plattenstraße and Telfen. (The route may be changed at short notice due to weather conditions)

The women's giant slalom on the Erta has now established itself as a renowned race and can no longer be missed in the ski scene. The Erta slope is quite impressive - with a length of 1,325 m, a difference in altitude of 405 m and a maximum gradient of 61%, it demands the fullest skill and a large portion of courage from the participants.

The magic of the Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina, which is ready to take flight for its 48th edition on the weekend of 1 and 2 February 2025, does not stop. The Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina is one of the most traditional and popular long-distance cross-country ski races, capable with its enchanting tracks to immerse the fans of narrow skis in the magnificent environmental context of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites of Alta Pusteria and the Ampezzo peaks. The dates for the 2025 edition have been confirmed for the first weekend in February, with the event re-proposing the beloved format: on Saturday 1 February, classic technique enthusiasts will open the dances of the Dobbiaco-Cortina with the 42 km TC, while on Sunday 2 February, free technique lovers will be able to unleash their energy on the 35 km course. The Gsiesertal Lauf is one of the best-known and best-loved ski marathons in the entire Alpine region. It is the second largest ski marathon in Italy, and is held on the 3rd weekend in February in the Val Casies Valley, South Tyrol (Italy). Ever since it was first held back in 1984, this race has never once been cancelled due to weather conditions. In 2021, the event was cancelled for reasons of force majeure (Corona). The event attracts a great deal of international skiers, with a good forty nations at the starting line every year and a great many World and Olympic Champions listed on the roll of honour. The race runs along two routes, one of 30 km and one of 42 km; the classic race is held on Saturday and the skating race on Sunday. The amateur “Just for Fun” group. with none of the stress of rankings and timekeeping, is also extremely popular, and the programme of events also includes the “Gsiesertal KIDS Run” on Saturday. The toboggan world cup in Deutschnofen takes place on the „Pfösl Riep“ natural toboggan run, which is one of the most well-known tracks in South Tyrol. The course is challenging and offers athletes a combination of tight curves and technical sections. It winds through the beautiful South Tyrolean landscape and is highly popular among athletes and spectators for its difficulty and scenic beauty.

Every year on Rose Monday, the Kastelruth Riding Club organizes an extraordinary event together with the ski schools: Night Skijoring! At this event, a skier is pulled by a horse as he races up the piste on skis. Sounds crazy? It is - but in the best possible way! Experience night skijoring under the moonlit sky this Monday, 03.03.2025, from 21:00.

Individual athletes, teams of two and the tireless "mountaineers" will tackle 20 km and 2,000 metres in altitude from Bolzano to the Rittner Horn in running shoes and on skis. The participants in the mountaineering category run from the start, complete with ski equipment, for the Ulli Seebacher Prize. Route mountain race: Start in Bozen (Mountainspirit shop), St. Magdalena along hiking trail 6 to Oberbozen, Kaserhof, Riggermoos, Tann, Pemmern (transition area). Route ski tour: From Pemmern ski route along the designated ascent track Feltuner Hütte and ascent Rittner Horn. The starting signal will be given on 8 March 2025 at 9 a.m. in the centre of Bolzano (262 m) and leads over a distance of 20 km and 2,000 metres in altitude to the Rittner Horn (2,260 m). First with running shoes to the Ritten high plateau in Oberbozen, then to Pemmern to the valley station of the Rittner Horn mountain railway and from there on skis to the summit of the Rittner Horn with a fascinating 360° panoramic view of the imposing Dolomites and the surrounding mountains. Both men and women take part in the Horn Attack, individually or as a pair. In the individual competition, athletes take on the challenge alone. In the two-person relay, the pairs alternate in Pemmern. The first athletes run to Pemmern, the second athletes ski to the finish. Participants in the "Mountaineers" category experience pure adrenaline. They start in Bolzano with their ski touring equipment on their backs, walk to Pemmern and then strap on their skis to cover the last 7 kilometres to the Rittner Horn. The participants in this special category will be honoured with the "Ulli Seebacher" prize in memory of the co-founder of the Hornattacke, who died too young

“Oh rhyme, rhyme, whose disc should this be?" This is the quaint Venosta Valley spoken melody as it occurs in the archaic ritual of launching burning discs known as Scheibenschlagen. Every first Sunday of Lent the traditional Scheibenschlagen takes place - Winter is thereby expelled and love and fertility poetically evoked in a fire ritual. In order for Spring to show its blooming face, the demons of the cold and darkness must be expelled first. Wooden discs mounted on sticks are made to glow in an open fire. The red-hot slices are then sent flying off into the wide valley accompanied by rhyming chants and well-wishes. If the disc flew off easily and “flew well", then it will bring good luck. In the end, a witch made of straw, and a few meters tall, which symbolizes the Winter, is burned.

In March, the ski slopes and mountain tops of the Seiser Alm will reverberate with sweet melodies. Six days long, amid dazzling sunshine and snow-capped mountains, skiers and snowboarders, as they glide across the slopes, will be able to enjoy sweet melodies and dynamic rhythms provided by accomplished musicians. "Swing on Snow" is an opportunity to listen to and enjoy authentic Alpine folk music – with the emphasis on "authentic". The bands play on the various ski slopes on the Seiser Alm in the morning, at lunchtime they perform in the mountain huts of the Seiser Alm and in the evening the villages of Castelrotto, Siusi, Fiè and Tires host atmospheric after ski concerts. The concerts are free of charge and there is no seat reservation needed. During the WinterMusicFestvial musical enjoyment combines perfectly with skiing. The 17th edition of Swing on Snow will take place twice over three days from 13.03.-15.03.2025 and from 19.03.-21.03.2025.
