The village of La Val, Wengen in German, is the smallest and perhaps quietest village in Alta Badia, situated amongst gentle mountain pastures in the Val Badia valley. Picturesque and free from cable cars, it is architecturally characterised by traditional Ladin hamlets called “les Viles“. Here, the South Tyrolean Dolomite region offers hiking possibilities for all needs and levels. The Armentara-Wiesen meadows, located in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, is unique in the whole of Europe for its biological diversity.

Your car-free summer holiday in Alta Badia

For a relaxed and environmentally friendly journey to the Dolomites Region Alta Badia, it is best to switch from road to rail. On site, bus, train or cable car will take you to your accommodation or excursion destination.

Travelling by train

You can reach the villages in Alta Badia from Franzensfeste or Lienz by taking the regional railway in the direction of Bruneck. Public buses, taxis or the "Südtirol Transfer" shuttle will take you from there directly to your holiday accommodation.
