The sleeping houses are wooden huts with fireplace and hay beds used for overnight stays, in a pretty location in the mugo pine zone with stunning panoramic views. No Refreshments.
Easy hike to a well-known alpine hut where one can rest and have something to eat. Trail no. 33a hike time: 2 hrs modest elevation gain. From the Klausberg mountain station, a broad trail reaches the Almboden Restaurant and then continues winding through romantic alpine meadow and larch forests to the Niederhofer Alm. From there, you can descend to St. Johann in about 1,15 hours or return by the same trail to the cableway top station.

Tote Möser, Totes Moos, Totmoos are the various names of this moorland biotope above Acereto. A remote small plateau with a few isolated pine trees, in winter usually covered with a thick blanket of snow. Grouse area.

This tour along the sunny side of the Mühlwalder valley is ideal in early summer and in autumn; in the summer it can get very hot. The fascinating thing about this walk is to stroll across alpine meadows, with wonderful views of the mountains surrounding Mühlwald, of the Pfunderer crest and over the valley. It is ideal for a hiking tour without using your car as you can use the public bus transport instead.

Winter walk on the sunny slope of Riva high valley, to old and newly restored brick farms with timber barns, past shimmering larches and pines.

Kofler zwischen Wänden, which means Kofler between walls, is the ideal name for a mountain farm perched in the middle of a rock ledge. Worthwhile destination, extreme location, exciting easy walk. Cesa: a pretty, remote high valley with light mixed pine forest at the foot of Scoglio Rosso.
The Tauferer Ahrntal (valley) is rich in legends. Some of these are presented on the Tauferer Valley Legend Trail. Children are drawn into an exciting world of magic, adults learn something about the mystics of Taufers. The legends are told on display boards. We hear about the little woman from Oberpurstein, about the Antrischen people, about the castle on Purstein, the treasure at Tobl and the doom of the Walburg Castle.
Since ancient times the population of Ahrntal was always closely related to its mountains. The south side of the Zillertal Alps, the Hohe Tauern and the Rieserferner mountains have left impressions on its surrounding life and people. Whereas years ago the high peaks were unaccessible and unclimbable, the situation changed with land surveying in the 19th century and the flourishing of tourism around the turn of the century. Alpinism can thus be seen as a foundation for tourism in Sand in Taufers. The valley became interesting as there was a lot of, until then unknown, new climbing territory which attracted climbers from England and Germany to conquer first ascents. Simultaneously, the need for mountain guides and the construction of shelters and paths emerged. The most famous local mountain guide around the previous turn of the century was Johann Niederwieser Stabeler, the most famous local climber of the modern era is Hans Kammerlander. The path gives us insight into the mountaineering of the valley from past to present times. Charts and symbols along the way. Trail conditions: forest road. A sunny tour high up above the Tauferer valley… This sunny tour offers some spectacular views overlooking the Tauferer valley and magnificient sights of the Rieserferner mountain range and of the southern Zillertal Alps. We will pass by the socalled Schlafhäuser (sleeping houses) which used to be shelters for herdsmen. The upper Schlafhaus is a perfect location for having a rest; at the spring you can satisfy your thirst with some excellent, fresh mountain water. The best season for this tour is spring and autumn, in the summer it can be very hot.

The mountain farm Wissemanhof is situated high up between Cantuccio and Caminata in steep terrain and benefits from stunning views.
Rein is one of the most oldest villages in the Tauferer Valley. The beautiful high valley is encircled by the three thousand meter peaks of the Rieserferner mountains, from which the Hochgall proudly sticks out. Rein lies in the heart of the Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park.
