About the region

In Meran and Environs, you might just feel as if you visited an entire continent on holiday. Vineyards and 3,000 m peaks, palm trees and Alpine roses, and mountain farm houses with contemporary architecture, the list of contrasting aspects is as impressive as the myriad opportunities available on holiday here.


Meran and Environs is a region of contrasts. The craggy, impressive 3,000 m peaks of the Texelgruppe, the largest nature park in South Tyrol/Südtirol, form the backdrop of Meran, a city boasting Mediterranean flair, a grand spa and imperial pomp & circumstance. Don’t be surprised to see apples, wine, and even palm trees growing behind the protective wall formed by the Texelgruppe range. Variety, stemming from the fertile climate, makes holidays in Meran and Environs so intriguing. Head shopping or stroll the side streets. The city’s arches and Mediterranean flair will leave an impression, but so too will the magnificent views and natural beauty of the Texelgruppe peaks that beckon you to set out and explore during a hike along the Meran High Mountain Trail (Meraner Höhenweg).
