Hotel description

The modern hotel in the monastery of the Salvatorian sisters is situated in a peaceful position, close to the centre of Merano. Immersed in an atmosphere of tranquility and ideally located for woodland and garden walks, hiking in the mountains or relaxing in the town's renowned thermal baths, this renovated and well-maintained hotel offers everything for a perfect vacation. In an area of churches, castles, leafy promenades and historic mansions and villas, this particular little enclave was once a favourite holiday destination of Empress Elizabeth (Sissi) of Austria who came for the mild winter climate, hiking in the sun-kissed Dolomites, the ever-blooming gardens and the rejuvenating spa waters. Since those days nothing much has really changed and Merano is still a vibrant centre of intriguing local culture, festivals, parks, gardens, wide promenades and idyllic scenery. The Alpine vistas and views of the town can be well appreciated from one of the Salvatorian hotel's balcony rooms. The guestrooms are simply but thoughtfully furnished and well-appointed with large, modern ensuite bathrooms and Wi-Fi throughout.A full, hearty breakfast is available each day and a three course meal is served in the evening. Much of the produce used is cultivated by the nuns. Half-board is available if required. Local restaurants are also nearby and within close walking distance.Parking is free and a spacious garden, luggage store and chapel are available for the use of guests.

About the region

In Meran and Environs, you might just feel as if you visited an entire continent on holiday. Vineyards and 3,000 m peaks, palm trees and Alpine roses, and mountain farm houses with contemporary architecture, the list of contrasting aspects is as impressive as the myriad opportunities available on holiday here.

Meran and Environs is a region of contrasts. The craggy, impressive 3,000 m peaks of the Texelgruppe, the largest nature park in South Tyrol/Südtirol, form the backdrop of Meran, a city boasting Mediterranean flair, a grand spa and imperial pomp & circumstance. Don’t be surprised to see apples, wine, and even palm trees growing behind the protective wall formed by the Texelgruppe range. Variety, stemming from the fertile climate, makes holidays in Meran and Environs so intriguing. Head shopping or stroll the side streets. The city’s arches and Mediterranean flair will leave an impression, but so too will the magnificent views and natural beauty of the Texelgruppe peaks that beckon you to set out and explore during a hike along the Meran High Mountain Trail (Meraner Höhenweg). In the valleys of Ultental and Passeiertal, rural landscapes, old mountain farm houses and untouched nature invite you to explore another world. The sheer variety of Meran and Environs is also reflected in the architecture. View centuries-old castles and forts as well as contemporary architecture coexisting side by side.
