500 years ago, Michael Gaismair fought for justice and participation in the Tyrolean Peasants' War. Naturally, women also played a role in the course of events: many, including Magdalena Gaismair, actively and behind the scenes participated in the uprisings. However, in the relatively few sources from this period, women are scarcely mentioned. Already in the 16th century, what would later be repeatedly confirmed applied: in the struggle for freedom, equality, and "brotherhood," women often were left with nothing but housework. Director Michaela Senn and her team are developing a play about the gaps in historical records, the everyday struggle for equality, and the power of solidarity. The theater piece was created in cooperation with Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen and the local association Vigil Raber Kuratorium and is an event of "Mitmischen! Ma come?" – a project of the City and Multscher Museum of Vipiteno as part of the Euregio Museum Year 2025, funded by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano – South Tyrol, the Municipality of Vipiteno, and private sponsors. It all started with a few hardworking women who had a knack for crafting, designing, and decorating - soon the idea for a different kind of Christmas market was born. Every 2 years, the large clubhouse in Stilfes becomes a unique marketplace for (not just) Christmas decorations - nothing here is "Made in China", everything is homemade. The lovingly handcrafted products range from artistic candles and festive wreaths to unique pieces of jewelry and culinary delights. Visitors can stroll through the festively decorated hall, enjoy the warm atmosphere, and sample mulled wine or goulash soup in a cozy setting. The proceeds will go to "Südtirol hilft'", as always.

Accompanied by the silvery light of the moon and the twinkling of the stars, we will walk with torches through the picturesque landscape, revealing the romantic side of this small village. Be enchanted by the tranquil and unique atmosphere of the snow-covered streets and paths, while the warm torchlight creates a magical and enveloping atmosphere. Every year, the traditional St. Nicholas procession takes place in Sterzing on the evening of December 5th. While Knecht Rupprecht and the Moors help St. Nicholas distribute the presents, the “Tuifl” (Krampus) use their rods to keep order. Originally, the custom was used in early winter to scare off threats from the spirits of darkness and frost. The traditional procession begins at 6 p.m. and moves from the north through the old town, across the town square, through the Zwölferturm tower and into the new town. In the afternoon, St. Nicholas makes a number of house visits, during which he is also accompanied by the Tuifl.

A nighttime adventure you shouldn’t miss in winter!

At the Allriss Hut in the Pflersch Valley, you can enjoy moonlit tobogganing with friends and soak up the unique atmosphere of the winter mountains. Since the toboggan run is not illuminated, we recommend bringing a headlamp.

You can reach the mountain hut on foot in about 1 hour from St. Anton (Pflersch Valley).

The Allriss Hut is open every Tuesday and Friday until 10:00 p.m. (hot meals served until 8:00 p.m.).

This light is carried by children into the hearts of the people in our village during the afternoon “Marende” (snack) time, in various corners of the village.
