From 3:00 – 5:00 PM, we’ll craft little autumn elves and charming candle holders for Advent. Using natural materials, wooden beads, felt, fabric scraps, and colorful paper, we’ll create magical little artworks – perfect for gifts or decorating your home!

The municipality cordially invites you to the grand opening of the new exhibition “Movement – between line and light” by artist Toni Walder.

In his works, Toni Walder deals impressively with the theme of movement – with fine lines, lively structures, and a fascinating play of light and shadow. His works invite you to pause, take a closer look, and discover the dynamics of the moment in color and form.

The brass section of the Niederdorf band will provide musical accompaniment, creating an atmospheric setting with selected pieces and making the exhibition opening a special experience.

Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to chat with the artist over a drink and stimulating conversation.

Visit our gastronomic Christmas market with the new Christmas shop in the historic heart of Dobbiaco from 28.11.2025 to 06.01.2026. Many huts await you with a rich offer of local delicacies prepared by Dobbiaco's gastronomists, the pavilion where an exciting entertainment programme takes place and the new Christmas shop where you can find a selection of handicrafts made by local artisans. With the exhibition “Movement – Between Line and Light,” the Haus Wassermann Museum Niederdorf is dedicating an impressive show to South Tyrolean artist Toni Walder, exploring the tension between watercolor painting and drawing.
Walder understands watercolor as an art of light – and at the same time of risk. In his works, water becomes both partner and adversary, color an expression of inner movement. His landscapes, animal depictions, and atmospheric scenes reveal a deep connection to nature—not as a mere motif, but as a living space of energy, change, and breath.
Walder's watercolors follow in the tradition of great masters such as William Turner and Emil Nolde, but at the same time bear their own quiet signature: the struggle for the fleeting, the visualization of the invisible. In works such as Monte Cristal, an “atmospheric zipper” emerges between heaven and earth, in which light, fog, and stone merge into one another.
In addition to watercolor paintings, the exhibition also features graphite and charcoal drawings—studies of nudes, portraits, and body landscapes. These works refer to Walder's intensive study of drawing, influenced by courses and master classes with Prof. Walter Strobl, Prof. Piotr Sonnwend, Prof. Irsara, and Rafael Zielinski, among others. Here, the line reveals itself as the origin of all pictorial activity—as an elementary movement between control and letting go, as a visible trace of thought and feeling.

Be there when the terrifying figures parade through the streets and the old tradition comes to life. 👹 Krampus parade - Be enchanted by the mystical and wild figures of the Krampuses, who envelop the village in a spooky and beautiful atmosphere. 👺 Small exhibition of masks “from the past to the present” - Discover how Krampus masks have changed over the course of time in an exciting exhibition. From traditional models to today's works of art, the exhibition offers a unique insight into the world of Krampus. 🍪 Warm drinks and Advent baked goods - Warm up with delicious Advent drinks and try our traditional Advent baked goods - perfect for the cold season. 🎶 Musical entertainment - A musical program will set the mood for the evening and put you in a good mood. The event is supported by the Krampusclub Luzifer Roat-Stankuchl, who make the evening an unforgettable experience with their impressive costumes and their passion for this custom.

Arrival of St. Nicholas - A magical evening for young and old! Soon St. Nicholas will arrive in our municipality! A special evening dedicated to children and their families. 🎅 Arrival of St. Nicholas - St. Nicholas will enter solemnly and address festive words to the children (in German), bringing joy and warmth to all. 🎁 Gifts for the children - St. Nicholas will personally distribute a gift to each child present! ☕ Hot drinks and snacks - Hot drinks and delicious snacks will be available to make the most of the Christmas atmosphere. 🎶 Musical entertainment - The evening will be accompanied by music to make the atmosphere even more festive. The event is organized by the Catholic Family Association, which has taken care of every detail to provide an unforgettable evening for the whole community. Campfire Magic & Crafting Fun By the campfire, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, we’ll make charcoal pencils and wire figures and create delicious campfire treats together!

From San Candido it’s a short ride by minibus or private cars to the car park of Val Campo di Dentro. There we walk in the pale light of the full moon into Val Campo di Dentro. In the snow-covered larch meadows, we enjoy the moonlight and then hike back to the starting point. Into the silence - a silent snowshoe hike From San Candido we take the minibus or private cars via Santa Maria to Monte Rota. Here, we start our circular hike through snowy forest clearings with breath-taking views of the Dolomites. We learn to recognise animal tracks in the snow, to read scats and to assign vomit to specific animals. Walk through San Candido to the starting point of the snowshoe hike (Parkhotel Sole Paradiso). First through the (hopefully) snowy spruce forest to Bagni di San Candido. Then a comfortable one and a half to two hour walk to the Rifugio Gigante Baranci (refreshment stop approx. 1 hour). Descent of your choice. You can opt to take the cable car. Otherwise, the walk back to San Candido via a different route takes one hour. We set off into Valle di Braies Vecchia by minibus from San Candido and using the snow-covered road towards Prato Piazza we reach the 2000 meters high alpine plateau. From there it’s a short walk to Rifugio Prato Piazza (base camp). There, we put on our snowshoes. Past Swiss pine woods we gently cross the high plateau and climb Monte Specie (2,307 m). A stunning circular view and intense winter fun for relatively small climbing effort. Refreshment stop possible at the end of the hike.
