Come and delve into a real-life wine experience at the bio farm Rielinger. The wine farmer will give you a tour of the vineyard, explaining the different grapes and their cultivation. We cultivate the white wine varieties Blatterle, Müller Thurgau, Kerner and Riesling as well as the red wines Schiava and Zweigelt. After the vineyard tour you’ll hit the cellar where we show you how the wine is fermented and aged. At the end of the tour of course you may taste our in-house wines. Ancient Mobility: In prehistory and the Middle Ages roads and paths led travelers over the Ritten Plateau to avoid the swampy Eisack Valley below. These roads and paths are still visible in some places today: at the ruins of Castle Zwingenstein which date back to the 13th century and was built to guard an ancient road. Nearby there are also remnants of a Rhaetian dwelling (2nd century BC). Afterwards, hikers pass a church whose patron saint was St. Sebastian during the plague. This same church dates back to the time of the nearby Roman road. From there hikers go up toward Lake Wolfsgruben and then proceed to the prehistoric and early historical site of Wallburg Wallner Egg. The meeting point will be disclosed upon reservation. The hike ends at the mountain station of the Ritten cable car in Oberbozen/Soprabolzano.

Daily between 10 a.m. -4 p.m. you can visit the mountain pine oil distillery on the Barbianer Alm on the hiking trail no. 15 along the Südtiroler Himmelstour/Cieloronda. Fresh mountain air and a wonderful panorama await you there. The hike leads over the blooming alpine meadows to the Barbianer Alm. There is the rustic mountain pine oil distillery, where the owner Meinrad Rabensteiner gives an insight into the traditional production of mountain pine and pine oil. The organic product is produced in harmony with nature, fresh needles and twig tips of the mountain pine are collected in summer and processed in a gentle way. Experience an exclusive tour of selected areas of the Benedictine Monastery of Muri-Gries, made possible by the abbot himself. The historic monastery complex also houses a traditional winery, where the renowned Lagrein red wines from the surrounding vineyards are produced. The baroque abbey church impresses with beautiful frescoes by Martin Knoller. This place of worship, located at the top of a hill, is the only one in Tyrol dedicated to Saint Verena. It was first mentioned in official documents in the 13th century. The church overlooks the northern side of the Eisack Valley, offering an extraordinary view of the Sciliar massif. And how did this link between the ideal place for Bolzano residents to go for a bit of 'Sommerfrische', or summer cool, and the genius tourist Sigmund Freud come about? In a letter dating February 1911, he reveals to Carl Gustav Jung «Next summer. I need a place where I can be alone with a forest nearby». So, before Easter, on Friday, the 14th of April, he leaves Vienna in the company of his friend and pupil Sandor Ferenczi and makes a quick tour lasting just six days to find a suitable place around Trento and Bolzano. He returns to Vienna the following Thursday and his research produces excellent results in the form of Ritten/Renon near Bolzano. Consequently, on the 9th of July, Freud sets off from Karlsbad, where he was staying to recover from a bout of 'American colitis', and joins his family at Klobenstein. This is where the Freuds celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, on 14th September - the enjoyment of their holiday thus being enhanced by love and affection. "The machinist turns the crank, the wagon spins and purrs, a little jerk, then it starts moving..." This is a quote from 1907 when the people from Bozen took the railway Renon (Rittner Bahn) to their summer retreat on the high plateau. Even today, after 113 years, our railway still runs between Maria Himmelfahrt, Oberbozen and Klobenstein as the only narrow-gauge railway in South Tyrol.

During the organ walk, starting from St. Anthony’s Church in Klobenstein to St. Peter’s Church in Siffian and then to the Parish Church of St. Lucy in Unterinn, the young organist Elias Gabriel Huber will showcase the respective church organs. The bonfire of chestnuts kicking off the event at all the Buschenschänke taverns. Leaves in hues of gold and scarlet-red begin to dot the mountains, and the aroma of grapes, ripened by the summer sun, still wafts through the vineyards. This is the environment in which the Törggelen tradition was born: the farmers would invite friends and neighbors to their wine cellars and cozy Stuben parlors in order to celebrate the crushing of the grapes. Today, in keeping with authentic practice of the tradition, chestnuts from neighboring groves are served together with homemade wine, and visitors can sample local specialties. As part of the Original Törggelen event, rural taverns known as Buschenschänke have been selected that meet the quality criteria of the Red Rooster brand. This year there are 18 taverns: located in the Isarco/Etschtal Valley, around Bozen and Meran, and along the Wine Route. The taverns in the Isarco/Etschtal Valley are connected to one another by the Eisacktal Chestnut Trail ("Keschtnweg"). Inauguration The bonfire of chestnuts, or Keschtnfeuer, will be lit at 7 p.m., kicking off the Original Törggelen event at all nine Buschenschänke taverns. In addition to serving fine wines, roasting chestnuts and preparing local specialties, the farmers will conduct tours and wine tastings starting at 6 p.m. Advance bookings are required at the participating farms (limited number of participants).

The guided excursions about the cestnut to Glaning/Afing will start every Thursday at 10 a.m. at the tourist office of San Genesio. During this excursion, you will learn many secrets about the cultivation of these precious autumn fruits admiring the colorful chestnut trees. There will be breaks with local product tastings at the "Törggelen" restaurants of San Genesio.
