At Kurt Art we would like to take you on a journey and show you how a product, which is timeless in its form and in its quality, is made.

All our products are manufactured in our workshop and you can watch yourselves how they are made.

It is very important to us to show people how, with diligence and creativity, beautiful products can be made. This way visitors can become part of these products. From the selected wood to the purchase of one of our products, visitors become part of this experience: creations were just waiting for them.

Due to my passion for the mountains and especially for alpine mountaineering, I spend a lot of time in nature in summer and winter.
Again and again I see the most wonderful and unique creations and whims of nature.
 The most beautiful ones are often found in inaccessible places and the recovery is usually difficult.
In spite of this, or perhaps because of it, it gives me pleasure to take such pieces and put them in the limelight.
 This hobby soon became a passion and finally the company Mannart was born.
 Unique and full of energy, each unique piece brings warmth and well-being into every dwelling and satisfies the longing for nature and wilderness.

Quill embroidery, natural leaf and wood print turn our products into unique pieces: with dedication and creativity, we are happy to personalize your favorite pieces as you wish.

The woodcarver is a traditional craftsman who can carve figures and other objects out of wood. In Castelrotto there are woodcarvers who master their craft. They use traditional wood cutting tools such as saw, plane, file and carving knife. With their handicraft techniques they create unique works of art, made of the best wood. Different traditions and techniques form the basis for a variety of interesting figures and objects. Often the objects are sold as souvenirs, decorations or as gifts.

Crafts
In my work, I combine traditional craft techniques such as crochet, macramé, weaving, punch needle, and tufting with modern aesthetic principles to create unique pieces that are both functional and artistic.

Unique Approach
When my hands start knotting, crocheting, or weaving an energy of mindfulness emerges. I create textile artistry – for spaces, people, and the soul. Style, quality, and sustainability are particularly important in my studio.

Each handmade product is one of a kind, focusing on form, aesthetics, sustainability, and durability, as well as individuality and identity. My creations are not just handmade; I also offer personalized custom designs to transform special ideas or wishes into unique items with character and history.

Production Process
It is my mission to make textile handcrafts modern again and to revive the creative integrity of this art form. Art and craft should harmonize, as envisioned by the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Techniques
Crochet: unique fashion statements with modern crocheted headbands made from merino wool in various designs.
Macramé: from stylish pillowcases and life trees to functional items like yoga straps, lanterns, and keychains.
Punch Needle & Tufting: rugs, decorative wall hangings, and textile artworks such as seat cushions.
Weaving: mandalas crafted as serene wall art through thoughtful colour combinations and the use of diverse yarns and wool.

Materials
Sustainably produced, ethically sourced materials are indispensable to me, whether regionally produced or recycled yarns or 100% Oeko-Tex certified. Only when I feel absolutely confident about my materials can I work with a clear conscience.

Workshops and courses
With passion, I share my knowledge through workshops, offering important insights into materials, preparation, posture and design. I aim to make participants feel how therapeutic textile handcrafts can be. The tactile creative process brings a sense of calm and meditative tranquility.

• Macramé Workshops: learn the art of macramé knots and create your own macramé project.
• Punch Needle Course: introduction to the technique, color theory, and stitching a wall hanging.
• Round Weaving: Create a dreamcatcher using the circular weaving technique, with a focus on individuality and upcycling.

Inspiration
I am drawn to the beautiful, aesthetic, and mystical aspects of life: I find inspiration in art exhibitions, architecture, interior design, and fashion. I love capturing impressions with my camera and incorporating them into my creations.

As a textile artist, my work revolves around the experience of creative artistry, combining various textile techniques with sustainably high-quality materials and a modern way of thinking and living.

In the farmer's shop you will find good, healthy and homemade products from Villnöss Valley. Various products are on sale in the village centre of St. Peter (Viel Nois Guest House). Open all day from Tuesday to Sunday; the shop is closed on Monday. 

At Atelier Alpinart you will find knitted, felted and sewn items. All handicraft techniques that are reinterpreted and realised with great creativity by owner Monika Kienzl. Whether felt soaps, slippers, bags or rucksacks, even felt shoes can be commissioned on personal request. See for yourself and visit the studio at the end of the village of Schenna.

LAIMER Is a young South Tyrolean brand, established in 2012. Our aim is to follow current lifestyle trends and reconnect these with natural elements, thus combining fashion and the protection of the environment. With our extraordinary wooden watches we create time for nature. Wood was the first material men have used to create tools. Today it has evolved into a material preferred by many designers. Wood infuses any product with charisma and with ever evolving woodworking techniques is both a traditional and modern material.

Wood carving has a long tradition in South Tyrol‘s Gardena Valley – around 1700, poor farmers took up wood carving as an additional source of income during hard winter months.
This tradition is still alive and we are proud to present our own wood carving enterprise:
ALRA has been a family business since 1992– and our high quality products have gained us a very good reputation in a fairly short time.

Our products include Christmas crib figures, Madonnas, crucifixes, angels, religious and profane figures, available in either natural, stained or coloured wood, according to your requirements.
Upon request, we also produce individual items.

Val Gardena is renown, it is said to be a special and magical valley. Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, this picturesque part of South Tyrol is covered with green woods, serene alpine meadows and embraced by impressive vertical mountain landscapes. For centuries men and women in this valley have developed and perfected a unique ability; that of artisan wood carving. This tradition remains part of local culture today. Sonia Demetz lends to this story with her personal touch; as she draws the figures, and as a final touch, she then hand color-paints each one of them. Sonia’s remarkable skill of wood painting was learned from her mother, in turn, passed down from generations. Today, Sonia continues this artisan tradition with a never-ending commitment and deep passion to make each of her carvings one of a kind.

The small museum in Winkel/Kematen shows historical equipment for sheep wool processing - and provides insights into the spinning and felting.

In the third generation, this centuries old craft is cultivated in the quill embroidery Thaler. The artistically embroidered with quill pen "Sarner Geldtaschen", traditional belts and other products are known and loved far beyond the valley. Each piece is unique and in order personally made for the customer. Sting by stitch with the awl creates a piece of personality on the finest cowhide, calfskin or goatskin long life. The quill embroidery Thaler relies on high quality materials. Uniqueness in design and best craftsmanship.

The Weltladen Schlern is located near the centre of Castelrotto and is run by volunteers from the surrounding area. It is the youngest among the 16 World Shops in South Tyrol and opened its doors in November 2019. As the Weltladen Schlern is a branch of the Weltladen Klausen, there is a close cooperation between the two shops. The concept of the shop is to support disadvantaged producers in the Global South through fair working conditions, wages and social projects instead of exploiting them in the current economic system. Imported food, cosmetics and handicrafts that can be bought in the shop are all Fair Trade certified. Selected South Tyrolean products offered in the shop promote small regional cycles and strengthen small-scale farmers.

"Nadel da mont", this is what this unique Christmas market, with mountain village character in Selva Val Gardena is called. The idyllic village of Selva is located in the heart of the Dolomites and offers endless ski fun thanks to the connection to the ski carousel "Sellaronda". From the 7th of December to the 6th of January a touch of slope flair will be brought into the village center of Selva. Original Christmas cabins will be floating over many luminous huts and creating a magical Christmas world that can be experienced with all senses.
