This winter hike starts at the quiet, deeply snow-covered Lake Carezza (Karer See | Lago di Carezza), whose winter charm is impressive right from the start. From here, the path leads along well-prepared trails through dense forests that exude a special sense of peace. The route is easy to walk, yet still offers varied sections with open views of the Dolomites. At the Stadlalm farm, a wide panoramic view unfolds, revealing snowy meadows as well as the Rosengarten Catinaccio and Latemar.
This easy and impressive circular hike is especially recommended due to the panoramic views to the Rosengarten, Schlern and Latemar mountains and the Alps. The hike can be combined with a visit at St. Helen chruch, which is famous for its high-Gothic frescoes. These mural paintings are amongst the most precious local examples of the High Gothic period. The church is open all year round. Just in front of the church, at the "Buschenschank" Kreuzhof, the visitors can taste typical south-tyrolean food.

This winter hike follows the "Herrensteig" from Welschnofen | Nova Levante to Lake Carezza (Karer See | Lago di Carezza), considered one of the most magnificent alpine lakes. The lake, located at the foot of the Latemar and known for its deep green waters and the beautiful mountain backdrop, is frozen in winter and usually covered with a white blanket of snow.
From Welschnofen | Nova Levante, the path ascends with a steady, gentle incline up to Lake Carezza. Upon reaching the lake, a breathtaking panorama opens up with views of the impressive mountain ranges of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio and Latemar.
The hike “Perlenweg” links the four villages Deutschnofen|Nova Ponente, Welschnofen|Nova Levante, Steinegg|Collepietra and Tiers|Tires. Those surround the mountains Rosengarten and Latemar. They are part of the Dolomites and count to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
