Concert - O/Modernt Soloists & Hugo Ticciati

Innovative and versatile – these are probably the words that best describe violinist and conductor Hugo Ticciati. He is equally passionate about early music, non-Western sounds, classical music and contemporary works. Composers such as Pēteris Vasks and Albert Schnelzer have written more than 40 works for him. In 2011, he founded the O/Modernt Orchestra, now an internationally renowned Swedish cultural brand. The Swedish name means “Un/Modern” and reflects an openness to all styles and periods. Its chamber ensemble, the O/Modernt Soloists, performs in flexible formations. Each concert is conceived as a curated experimental space in which familiar works are placed in new contexts, improvisational elements are incorporated and genre boundaries are crossed.
The programme “Kaleidoscopic Sounds” offers an equally unique listening experience: just as a kaleidoscope fascinates us with constantly changing forms, this concert brings together dynamic contrasts, different periods and diverse styles. Albert Schnelzer’s “Apollonian Dances”, marked by wild ecstasy, are juxtaposed with the meditations of Pēteris Vasks, while music by Ludwig van Beethoven and Henry Purcell meets contemporary works by Andy Akiho, Emmanuel Witzthum and Arvo Pärt.
