Grigory Sokolov Recital at the Busoni Festival
Among the most eagerly anticipated dates of the Busoni Festival is the recital by Grigory Sokolov, one of the highlights of the summer music calendar. For the 2026 edition, the pianist will perform a programme dedicated to Beethoven and Schubert.
Music critic B. Neuhoff (BR Klassik, 2025) described Sokolov's performances as marked by absolute precision: unlike many other performers, who often focus their attention on individual passages while leaving the rest less defined, Sokolov works out every note, every bar and every phrase down to the smallest detail, with no room for approximation — leaving audiences wondering how such a range of tonal colours and technical dexterity is even possible.
Programme:
Ludwig van Beethoven – Sonata No. 4 in E-flat major, Op. 7
Ludwig van Beethoven – 6 Bagatelles, Op. 126
Franz Schubert – Piano Sonata in B-flat major, D. 960
