San Candido Celebrates: Three Days of Music, Flavors, and Fun for Everyone It’s that special time again: the beloved “Innichner Maktlfest” returns this year – as tradition dictates, every two years – and promises an unforgettable weekend for young and old alike. From Friday evening to Sunday, the center of San Candido will transform into a lively festival village, featuring 16 associations from San Candido, Versciaco, and Prato Drava, all ready to offer a rich and varied program. The official opening is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. Musical performances in a variety of genres – rock, pop, and traditional music – will take turns on four different stages. Among the featured bands are Vollgas, The Jam’sons, One Night Band, and the Jungböhmische Pichl. Don’t miss the nightclub in the basement of the Josef Resch House, where electrifying beats will keep the party going late into the night. The festivities continue on Saturday, starting in the morning with a concert by the Sankt Florian music band at the pavilion, during a tasty brunch organized by the San Candido music band’s stand. In the evening, the musical program picks up energy again, with performances by Tiroler Wind, 4krnyer, Die Woazgruiba, and Queen Laurin, all ready to get everyone dancing and singing. Sunday will be all about music and families. The Family Counseling Center (Elki) and the Family Association will offer a rich children’s program featuring puppet theater, games, and plenty of fun. Musically, the day will bring even more special highlights.

Accompanied by Rosa Steger-Walde, you will have the opportunity to join a herbal walk through the meadows and forests of the Three Peaks Dolomites region. Together, we will discover local wild herbs, their healing properties, culinary uses, and traditional applications. This tour offers in-depth knowledge, fascinating stories, and practical tips for identifying and using medicinal plants.

We at the Dobbiaco Tourist Association are also taking the initiative: Lukas from our field team will walk around Lake Dobbiaco on July 11 and August 29 under the motto CleanUP – LAKE DOBBIACO, collecting litter along the way. Ride the cable car up to the Rotwand/Croda Rossa. The new 2.5-kilometre-long “Rock spirits” family circular trail at Croda Rossa invites adventures and history buffs to discover the secrets of this impressive mountain landscape. The Dolomites have held an irresistible fascination for centuries and the desire to climb their summits is as old as man himself. For a long time, the peaks, the so-called “Knottn” were considered frightening and inaccessible, inhabited only by ghosts and witches. The Gustav Mahler Music Weeks are celebrating their 45th anniversary in 2025 and will take place in Dobbiaco from 12 July to 5 August. The festival honours the composer, who created his last masterpieces here, with top-class orchestral and chamber music concerts, an international symposium on the topic of ‘Mahler and humour’ and exciting lectures. A special highlight is the hike to the composer's cottage with musical accompaniment. The concerts take place in the Gustav Mahler Hall of the Grand Hotel Toblach cultural centre - surrounded by the impressive backdrop of the Dolomites.

This event will not be held in English. During the nature walk,you will learn the effect of the herbs and their healing properties. At the end of the hike you can enjoy a delicious snack made from the herbs you have collected together.

We go by bus to Signaue, then we take the Drei Zinnen cable car to the Stiergarten. Hike along the tracks of old smugglers' trails via the Klammbach hut and Nemesalm hut towards the Kreuzberg Pass/Passo Monte Croce Comelico. We take the bus to Vierschach/Versciaco and from there the cable car up to the Helm (2.050 m). The Olperl’s Nature Park starts directly at the mountain station of the Helm cable car and leads to Olperl's best friends - into the realm of the alpine animal world. On the 1,5 km long circular trail you can discover 10 exciting adventure points - with great views of the summit world of the Sesto Dolomites. Exploring Olperl's Natur Park on the highest barefoot trail in the Dolomites (2.150 m) is soothing and healthy. Soft moss, fragrant larch wood, stone slabs or pebbles revitalise the foot reflex zones before the feet are bathed in cooling spring water. Our adventure begins in the Visitor Centre! During a short guided tour we will discover the Dolomites. How did they form? Is it true that they used to be in the sea? What will they become in the future? Why are they so special? How many things are there to learn about these fascinating mountains! And then everyone out! Our adventure continues with an excursion to Lake Toblach. During this hike we can immerse ourselves deeply in nature and learn a lot about it. What are plecoptera larvae? What does their presence indicate? Which animals live in the forest? Do carnivorous plants also exist in the mountains? Many topics will be covered. Each participant will be given an observation magnifier, do you know it? These are useful jars with a magnifying glass on the lid, an indispensable tool for field research. A true Ranger cannot do without one! In the afternoon, back at the Visitor Centre, there will finally be the awarding of the Dolomiti Ranger diplomas! The guide: You will be accompanied by experienced staff members of the Three Peaks Visitor Centre, who are eager to share their passion and knowledge with you and help you discover and learn many new things. For us, nature is a wonder, at the same time a school and a playground!
