Schenna/Scena

Schenna Castle towers above Meran/Merano. It has characterised the townscape for centuries and is still the ancestral seat of the Counts of Meran. Throughout the year, the castle owners, in cooperation with the tourist board, open their doors for selected events. This helps to preserve this cultural heritage, and you too can get a glimpse of history brought to life at the Gin Festival, Aperitivo Lungo or the Castle Advent.

What you experience there is reflected throughout the whole town. Behind this lies a vibrant community life that fosters a sense of togetherness and shapes Schenna. The tourist board lays the groundwork and ensures that this diversity is preserved.

You’ll experience it too when you walk through Schenna. At the drinking fountains, you can fill your water bottle with fresh, certified spring water. The green spaces along your route have been designed with care to feature a diverse selection of plants. The Meraner Land Express is available for your journey to and from your destination, and once you’re here, the excellent links to the public transport network will allow you to explore the region with ease. In addition, regional cycles strengthen local cooperation and keep the added value within Schenna.

In recognition of this commitment, Schenna was awarded the South Tyrol Sustainability Label® Level 3. This emphasises how naturally coexistence between locals and visitors is lived out.
