    Have you ever seen the inside of a power station? Did you know how water becomes electricity? In South Tyrol, the Passeiertal Valley and especially the Hinterpasseier Valley is one of the valleys with the most water. For this reason, more than 22 power stations for sustainable energy production have been built in the Hinterpasseier Valley for about a century. One of the oldest is the power station in Rabenstein, which you can visit and explore. The guided tour offers unique insights into the power station and shows how water converted into electricity. The guided tour will be in German and Italian.

    10th Lorenzi night at the Knottnkino

    Every year in August, a particularly large number of shooting stars flit across the night sky. From 11 to 147th of August, the so-called "Perseids" reach their peak this year. This is also the case on Tuesday, 12th August and the Knottnkino cinema in Vöran is the ideal place to keep an eye out for the "lucky charms". Bring a picnic blanket, listen to pleasant sounds and enjoy some tasty snacks ... Members of the South Tyrolean amateur astronomers "Max Valier" will also be there, with telescopes and interesting stories to tell about the night sky. Photographs and videos may be taken at the event for the purpose of documenting and promoting the event and the area. The recordings may be used and published on websites, in social networks and in the media in compliance with data protection regulations.

    Guided hiking tour "Pfelders-Schneidalm-Lazins"

    We start in the beautiful mountain village of Pfelders in Val Passiria/Passeiertal and hike on a somewhat steep path over serpentines to the rustic Schneidalm (approx. 1 ½ hours), always with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. We spend our lunch break here and enjoy the peace and quiet. We then hike along the Lazinser Steig into the valley and descend comfortably to Lazins and back to the starting point via Zeppichl.     We start at the parking lot by the 'old sawmill' and hike steadily upwards to the Freiberger Alm and further to the Latschiniger Alm, with a beautiful view of the Texel Group. After a break, the path descends slightly along the mountain path to the Marzoner Alm. From here, we take a short route back to the parking lot. Afterwards we take the "Hahnl" with us and here we start the descent to the "Waalerhütte" and return to the car park via the Ulfaser/Matatzer Waalweg.     Starting from the village center, the nature and landscape enthusiast Martin leads you along a trail that winds through quiet streets, passing by the Cantina Merano Winery and several other local wineries. Along the way, you’ll encounter informative panels about the history and culture of wine, as well as larger-than-life winegrowing constructions. This approximately 1, ½ -hour walk concludes with a wine tasting at a local winery in Marling or the Cantina Merano Winery in Marling. Guided by a winemaker or cellar master, you’ll enjoy a selection of local wines paired with a traditional “Marendbrettl” (South Tyrolean snack). Don't miss out on this special experience and discover the world of Marling winegrowing! 🍷 Return to the village center: around 12:30 PM Registration required: Until Tuesday at 5:00 PM online or at the Tourist Association Marling.     Guided hiking tour "Gampenpass - Gfrillneralm"

    At the Gampen Pass, we visit a military bunker from World War II. Afterwards, we hike along a gravel road and then a footpath. The trail leads upward in switchbacks until we cross a wide valley at the foot of the small Laugenspitze. Continuing with a gentle ascent, we reach the small idyllic Gfrillneralm where we take a break. There, we can enjoy wonderful views of the Dolomites. After that, a pleasant road leads down to the Gampenstraße, from where we take the bus back to Lana. Metres in altitude: approx. 400 m Total walking time: 4 hours Difficult hike: moderate

    We start in Reinswald in Sarntal and hike uphill to the Pfnatschalm, where we stop for lunch and take in the beautiful panorama. We continue to the Getrumalm, where we pass various adventure stations of the Sarner Latsche, the alpine farm and the Knappenlöchern. From the Getrumalm we hike slowly downhill to Reinswald.     We start at the Enzianalm in the rear Martell Valley and hike on a moderately steep path along a babbling brook. After a short hike, we reach the Pederstieralm (not open to the public) and from there continue on a gentle ascent to the Pederköpfl. During a short break, we enjoy the wonderful view of the Martell glacier on the opposite side. We then descend to the Lifyalm. After a refreshment stop, we continue downhill to Gasthof Zufritt at the Martell reservoir. Elevation gain: approx. 550 m Walking time: approx. 3-3.5 hours Difficulty: moderate

    We start at the Rappenhöfe farms in Kalmtal and hike steeply uphill through the forest, later across alpine meadows to the rustic Faglsalm. Here we stop for refreshments and then hike uphill again to the beautifully situated Faglssee lake, surrounded by alpine pastures and mountains. We have reached the highest point here and now hike along the high trail towards the inner valley. At the end of the valley, we then descend slightly to the Valser Alm. We return comfortably to the starting point via a beautiful forest path. Elevation gain: approx. 800 m Walking time: approx. 5 hours Difficulty: moderately difficult

    An afternoon dedicated to apples in the company of the ‘sommelier of apples'. In the orchard he tells how this fruit is cultivated and what characteristics differentiate the different varieties.     We reach ‘Hofmahd’ in Val d'Ultimo, just before the village of Proves, where we begin our walk. We pass the Castrin alpine hut and along slopes dotted with orchids and alpine roses we reach the ‘Laugenjöchl’ yoke. Here we take the well-known Bonacossa path, cross the slopes below the summit of the Great Luco and along trail no. 10 we reach the Luco alpine pasture. From here a forest path leads to the Passo Palade, from where the bus takes us back to Lana. Altitude difference: approx. 300 m Walking time: approx. 5-5.5 hours Difficulty level: easy

    Exhibitors from Five Countries For the 47th time, the large international collectors’ fair, Lanaphil, will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Lana/South Tyrol. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will be a meeting point for collectors. About 50 exhibitors and many collectors will be present in the large hall, the foyer, and on the stage of the Raiffeisenhaus in Lana. Exhibitors and visitors from the following five countries will participate: Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. Twice a Year Collectors’ Fair The founder and organizer, Albert Innerhofer, a passionate collector of old and historical postcards, first organized this collectors' meeting in Lana on October 22, 2000. Since then, the event has been very popular, taking place twice a year—once in April and once in October—in the Raiffeisenhaus of Lana, South Tyrol. Thanks to visits to many collectors' fairs both in Italy and abroad, many friendships and contacts with other collectors have developed, some of which have lasted for decades and are still ongoing today. At this fair, old historical postcards, stamps (including personalized stamps), coins, letters, pre-philatelic items, historical stock certificates, banknotes, military items, and other memorabilia such as books, engravings, old photos, and accessories will be available for trade, purchase, or sale. Personalized Stamps Each year at Lanaphil, new personalized stamps are released. Currently, the following personalized stamps are available: Heinrich Dalla Rosa (1909-1945), a priest from Lana who was executed by the Nazis on January 24, 1945 – 2024 Dipl.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Luis Zuegg (1876-1955) from Lana, marking the 140th anniversary of his birth – 2016 800 years of the gift of St. Margareth Church in Lana to the Teutonic Order (1214–2014) 500 years of the altar by Hans Schnatterpeck in Lana (1508–2008) 100 years of the Lana-Vigiljoch Cable Car (1912–2012)

    Water and its Power (Psairer Herbst)

    Have you ever seen the inside of a hydroelectric power plant? Do you know how eco-friendly electricity is generated from water? The Passeiertal Valley is one of the most water-rich valleys in South Tyrol. For decades, the power of water has been harnessed here to produce sustainable energy in numerous hydroelectric power stations. On a hike from St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo along part of the impressive Passer Gorge "Passerschlucht", you'll have the opportunity to visit the Gomion power plant. During an exciting guided tour, Sepp will tell you more about the history and technology of the facility – you'll get first-hand insight into how clean electricity is generated from water. Along the way, we'll stop for a break at the Hinterbruggerhof inn and enjoy a traditional "Marendebrettl" with regional specialties. After this cozy rest, we'll head back to St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo feeling refreshed. Walking time: approx. 2.5 h | Difference in altitude: approx. 230 m The event will be in German.

    A Journey into the World of Ore: Schneeberg Mine (Psairer Herbst)

    Hidden in the upper Passeiertal Valley at 2,355 meters lies the historic Schneeberg mine. It was once the largest ore mining area in Europe. Since 1967, operations have ceased. Join hiking guide Franz on this exciting tour and learn first-hand about the history of mining and the tough lives of the miners. After the ascent, we'll stop at the mountain hut in St. Martin am Schneeberg for a well-deserved lunch. Afterwards, we'll explore the adventure mine and experience the tunnels up close. Walking time: approx. 4.5 h | Difference in altitude: approx. 680 m in ascent and approx. 800 m in descent The event will be in German and Italian.
