The present parish church, which we have before us is already the third church in Weißenbach/Rio Bianco. Already in the year 1000 stood near the present-day Kirchler-yard (hence the farm name), a small church, on a small level. However, this small church was a flood in 1336 not withstanding and was swept away.

Early is the time to exercise in order to become a big one. The children´s ski world in the ski arena Klausberg offers ideal circumstances for the little snow enthusiasts to become familiar with the art of skiing.

From 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, the little ski enthusiasts are taken care of by trained staff: Lunch and 1.5 hours long ski lessons are, of course, part of the whole experience, and indeed free! 

Goose bumps, rush of altitude, adrenaline. Guaranteed. Curious? Then the Klausberg ski arena will be just right for you from summer 2020 onwards. Fasten your seatbelts and off you go - the new Klausberg zipline is waiting for you. Breathtaking and not for the faint-hearted!

With the zipline you will cross the so-called "Brugga-Klomme" in eagle flight. Starting from the Kristallalm, you plunge uncompromisingly towards the „Almoden“ in the rush of speed. Something for the real adrenaline junkies among us and for those who want to become one. Get on board and enjoy a fascinating high-speed experience that you will not soon forget! A tricky, demanding, superbly constructed route with absolutely breathtaking views. The via ferrata was named after the mountaineer from Ahornach. The route begins close to the Kleingruberhof in Ahornach, covers 600 metres in length and 300 vertical metres, and requires nerves of steel and a lot of strength – above all in the arms.  After a relatively moderate start, the rock face becomes extremely steep. According to Hans Kammerlander, there is nothing like it in the entire Dolomite region; the difficulty reaches level E, but is mostly D and C. The path ends after around three hours of climbing near the Kofler zwischen den Wänden and is only suitable for experienced climbers. A good head for heights is one hundred percent essential.

Route description:
A short ladder up to an overhang (E), then a B/C and C-grade traverse to the Burma bridge (A/B). After the bridge continue (B) to a small niche and then steeply (D) to a flake and right into the narrow intersection (D/E). The intersection widens (D) and leads to the 15-m ladder (inside B/C; outside C). After the ladder, a left turn (D and briefly E) over the roof and climbing to the right (D and C) in easier terrain (B/B). Then the route moves on to an edge and the long, ascending traverse begins (always B, B/C and also briefly C) up to the next overhang. Just before this the face becomes steeper (C/D) and you will reach the tree trunk on which you cross to the roof edge. Next briefly D and then easier to the rope bridge. Cross this bridge and then traverse horizontally (B). The rope becomes steeper (C and C/D) and leads up under the next bridge, which is reached by looping round to the left (B). After the second bridge a slab pillar (up to C) leads up to the exit at a wooden fence.

At the car park in Kasern, at the very end of the Ahrntal valley, you’ll find the information point of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, housed in a modern, minimalist wooden structure that blends beautifully with the alpine surroundings.

On the ground floor, a lovingly curated exhibition introduces the local craftsmanship and agriculture of the upper Ahrntal. You’ll also discover an overview of South Tyrol’s nature parks. A 3D relief map provides orientation – and the panoramic view of the valley’s end will spark your wanderlust.

The lower floor features a magical, interactive exhibition that immerses visitors in the fascinating world of the remote Prettau valley.

The film “Prettauer Leben” (Life in Prettau) gives voice to the local people and their stories.
At the heart of the exhibition are four cross-border hiking routes that showcase the region’s natural and cultural richness.
In the cinema room, a short film offers a stunning glimpse of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, while “Panorama Prettau” captures the majestic high-mountain landscapes in breathtaking images.

Weiter geht’s zu den Tierbänken, hier kann nochmal kurz Rast gemacht werden, bevor man bei den Stationen Kuh-Läuten und Futterkrippe die eigene Balance testen kann. Der Ziegenbaum ist das letzte Hindernis bevor ihr auf der Kuh-Rutsche ins Ziel gelangt.
