Every Wednesday we meet us in the farm of the Schildhof Obergereuth. Together we prepare South Tyrolean bread with spices and wheat from our farm. While the dough is rising and resting, we visit our mill from 1831. The bread and three recipes are taken home. While the bread is baking in the oven, we dedicate ourselves to lunch: a generous and varied platter of cheeses from the organic cheese dairy Schupferhof, various types of bread from our farm and our medlar jelly. After the moderately difficult hike (480 metres altitude), we enjoy a hearty breakfast with South Tyrolean products at the Meranerhütte.

An afternoon dedicated to apples in the company of the ‘sommelier of apples'. In the orchard he tells how this fruit is cultivated and what characteristics differentiate the different varieties. During the tasting takes participants on a journey through flavours, scents textures and aromas and shows how versatile the apple can be in the kitchen. (In German and Italian language) Price: free. An adventure for the whole family! Participants can experience the thrill of wild water on the Adige River in specially rafts, guided by professional instructors from the outdoor activity organization "Acquaterra". A shuttle service will bring our guests from Algund Town Hall to Kastelbell in the Vinschgau Valley, the starting point of the tour.

With her performance Glacier Elegy, Jaanika Peerna (Tallinn/New York) confronts the climate crisis, specifically the melting of glaciers. The artist uses ice as a totemic representation of strength, beauty, and ecological fragility. As an artist in residence, Peerna is hosted at Villa Arnica, where she explores the garden and its essential foundation: the public good of water. Her work includes drawing, performance, and installation, all stemming from the rhythms and movements of the body. Peerna lives between Tallinn and New York, and her works have been exhibited in internationally renowned galleries and museums, including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington, D.C.), the Zuccaire Gallery (Stony Brook University, NY), Real Art Ways (Hartford, CT), and the Espronceda Center for Art and Culture (Barcelona, Spain). Have you ever seen a chamois in the wild or spotted a golden eagle in the sky? In Passeiertal Valley, you will follow in the footsteps of the local wildlife with experienced hunters. Together you will explore the habitats of red deer and chamois and learn to read the signs of nature. This tour offers more than just wildlife watching. The hunters share their knowledge about the tradition of hunting, which has been part of nature conservation since the 19th century. They explain how hunting helps to maintain the ecological balance and sustainably preserve our cultural landscape. After a quiet stroll through the awakening nature, a delicious breakfast awaits you. A hundred years of history, skilfully interwoven with the thousand-year-old frescoes of St Prokulus, told in an exciting and entertaining way. Selma Mahlknecht, who has already won the Sir Walter Scott Prize for the best German-language historical novel for ‘Helena’, has now published her second major historical novel. In it, she traces the upheavals, developments and transformations of the past hundred years in South Tyrol. The novel begins with the aftermath of the First World War and progresses through fascism, National Socialism and the Cold War to the present day, when the world is once again divided. ‘Selma Mahlknecht portrays an arduous ascent, flanked by ruptures and abysses - sensitively and ironically, bitterly and brilliantly told.’ Hans Heiss, historian.

Bread baking at the Museum: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a demonstration of how bread was baked according to a traditional Passeiertal Valley recipes. Visitors can watch our expert Museum bakers at work as they answer your questions and happily trade tips with those in the know. Participation with tasting and mini-guided tour is included in the admission price. The guided tour is only available in German and Italian.

Merano Dialogues 2025: Around the world, or rather, around space in eight days. It was 31 July 1982 and Franco Malerba with the Shuttle Atlantis mission became the first Italian astronaut in history to venture beyond planet Earth. Record after record (‘AstroSamantha’ Cristoforetti was the first Italian astronaut in the crews of the European Space Agency and the first European woman commander of the International Space Station), and with the astronauts also ‘towards infinity and beyond’ Paolo Nespoli, Roberto Vittori, Luca Parmitano, Maurizio Cheli and Umberto Guidoni, space has become a field of research, strategy and excellence for Italy. On the sixtieth anniversary of the launch into orbit of Italy's first satellite, the San Marco 1, by Luigi Broglio, in Federico Guiglia's interview with Paolo Teofilatto, Professor of Flight Mechanics and long-time dean of the School of Aerospace Engineering at La Sapienza University in Rome, the great challenge of the present between the Moon and Mars will be told. And what the results for mankind are of space flights, what the risks are, what the new frontier is.

What connects or distinguishes the Siegen region and the Merano region? Is it perhaps the cable car, the rural-urban space, the market square, or the stories of the residents? What things, thoughts, ideas, photos, or traditions do we bring with us and intertwine on site to create an artistic work? The team from the Department of Art in Public Space & Cultural Education at the University of Siegen (Johanna Schwarz, Alexandra-Joy Jaeckel, Stefanie Klingemann, and Samuel Treindl) and about 20 students are working in Lana. The results of the study stay will be visible in the public space. The center of the student action is a construction container located in the town square. From there, the students flow through the streets of Lana and come into direct contact with the local community during their artistic work.

Among all public spaces, the mobile space of buses and trains is a very special one: Here, people from the most diverse backgrounds meet, spend time in close proximity – yet often without any real interaction. Digital devices enhance this distance by wrapping each individual in a bubble of isolation. The art project Music To Go, conceived by Hannes Hölzl and Magdaléna Kobzová, focuses precisely on this: It aims to break open these bubbles for a day and bring train passengers out of their isolation – an exceptional day in public transport. The intervention introduces a practice to South Tyrol that is part of the cityscape in other parts of the world: music in the train car. For one day, musicians will accompany the train ride from Bolzano to Lana, turning the public space of local transport into a stage for collective experience. The participating musicians are: Laki Colombo Gabrelli, Geschwister Karnutsch, Nico Platter, Trio Samén, and Nartan Savona. Hannes Hölzl is a musician and media artist. His fields of work include algorithmic compositions, live performances, sound installations, and radio pieces. Magdaléna Kobzová is a cultural worker from South Tyrol with roots in Slovakia. For over two decades, she has been conceiving artistic encounters, workshops, and exhibitions.

Under his alter ego Lois Lane, Alexander Ebner has created a playground where his techno spirit synergizes with his punk attitude. He produces more sophisticated music without following any guidelines or respecting boundaries. In his DJ set at the town square of Lana, he puts genres in the background to develop new dynamics of togetherness.

Accompanied by an experienced mountain guide, you will experience an unforgettable via ferrata adventure. Along the secured via ferrata "Stuller Wasserfall", you will master the rocks and immerse yourself in the impressive world of climbing - just a stone's throw away from the third highest waterfall in Europe. Then the Trailrunning Camp Merano 2000 would be great for you: the two professionals in trail running and mountain running, Andreas Reiterer and Anna Hofer, have all kinds of useful techniques for uphill and downhill as well as tips on the use of poles. You'll also receive exciting insights into aspects that will take your training to the next level: from training planning and recovery to sports nutrition and proper stretching for flexibility before and after training. And of course, fun always comes first - whether you're preparing healthy energy snacks or doing mobility training with personal trainer Thomas Staffler!

For many people, the cemetery is a place of silence and remembrance, but upon closer inspection, it reveals itself as a living ecosystem rich in biodiversity. Biologist Eberhard Steiner provides interesting insights into the various forms of life in this special 'biotope' and shows how a targeted selection of plants can further promote biodiversity. Taking the cemetery of Lana as an example, the scientific correlation between flora, fauna, and the 'cultural landscape' of the cemetery will be examined. This original walk in the greenery is promoted by the Committee for Lifelong Education.

To conclude LanaLive 2025, AMA and Forno Vagabondo invite you to the Prati del Valsura, a space free from consumerism that has been bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and generations for decades. It is a place of meeting, exchange, and connection. In this setting, two community-building rituals intertwine: Forno Vagabondo, with its itinerant social oven, gathers people to bake bread together, share knowledge, and create new connections through dialogue on sustainability, biodiversity, and community. The preparation of bread will become a collective activity that promotes openness, participation, and creative exchange. This collective energy continues to ferment through music. With their sets, the Resident DJs of AMA create a space where dance and music are experienced as tools of connection, as expressions of meeting, participation, and shared celebration. Commons of Connection is an invitation to experience public spaces as living networks, places that grow through shared actions, cultural practices, and communal rituals.

As part of the "Schenna in blossom" series of events, the "Aperitivo lungo at Schenna Castle" will take place on 24 May. Visitors can enjoy castle charm and DJ beats with sparkling wine and delicious appetisers from the region from 5 to 9 pm. The entry is free.

The primeval larch trail takes you to the "Platter Urlärchen" - mighty trees that have characterised the valley for over a thousand years. Arnold shares his knowledge about these unique larches and the diverse flora and fauna of the surrounding area. How have these impressive witnesses of time survived for so long?
