19th October from 9 am to 5 pm The Organic Festival will take place on the open air festival area Algund. The South Tyrolean Health Promotion Association and the Union of Alternative Farmers. Organic products (fruit, vegetables, herbs, infusions, wine, juices, bread, etc.), wholemeal dishes and entertainment for adults and children await you. In addition to a large offer of organic products, there will also be lectures with various speakers.

Traditional folk music, chestnut market, rural dishes and chestnut specialities await visitors in the village centre of Völlan. Visit to the Völlan Farmers' Museum with traditional baking demonstrations and a presentation of local crafts. Guided tours with the foresters at 2.00 pm on the South Tyrolean chestnut adventure trail. Free shuttle service from 9.30-18.00 from Lana to Völlan and from Tisens to Völlan.

During the Chestnut Days "KESCHTNRIGGL", everything revolves around the "Tisner Kescht" (Chestnut of Tesimo). During the Chestnut Days, menus in selected restaurants feature specially created chestnut dishes. The chestnut is the protagonist of numerous events during the Chestnut Days KESCHTNRIGGL.

Keschtnriggl - Chestnut days. The Chestnut Weeks and the Törggelen in Merano and Environs have been a South Tyrolean Tradition for years. Chestnut days in Tesimo/Tisens - Prissiano/Prissian, Foiana/Völlan and Lana gets ist Name from the "Keschtnriggl" - a hand-braided basket for Peeling roast chestnuts. For three weeks, a colourful Event Programme is put on for visitors: Chestnut walks, torchlight processions from castle to castle and the "Keschtnfestl" feast in Foiana, with Music, farmers market, chestnut delicates and traditional crafts. The aromatic fruit with ist spiky Shell, grows particularly well in Merano and Environs, and during this green Event has pride of place in the specialities of traditional inns and prestigious Restaurants, as well as in exquisite chestnut products such as sweet chestnut hearts, aromatic chestnut beer, hearty chestnut stollen, tasty chestnut spraed, luxuriant chestnut cake, fluffy chestnut bread, the excellent chestnut panettone as well as the noble chestnut praline.

Naturno has made a name for itself as a market town in recent years; the much-visited and popular weekly market on Saturdays has become indispensable for locals and holidaymakers alike, and attracts many visitors to the village. The "Kirchtigmarkt" is one of the three annual markets where up to 55 stallholders offer their goods.

During a guided tour of the Wezl private distillery, Jochen explains the creation of grappa and the important role played by the grape. Both the grappa and the accompanying wine will be tasted. Because wine and grappa harmonize excellently with chocolate, this sweet seduction is served for tasting. The event will be in German.

Cantina Kaltern is a historic wine cooperative located in the village of Kaltern in South Tyrol. Founded in 1900, it brings together around 520 winegrowing families who jointly cultivate approximately 430 hectares of vineyards.

The vineyards range from 250 to 700 meters above sea level – stretching from the shores of Lake Kaltern to the slopes at the foot of the Mendel mountain range. The unique mix of alpine and Mediterranean climate, with sunny days and cool nights, creates ideal conditions for a wide diversity of grape varieties.

Experience chestnuts and wine in Lana in the chestnut grove of the Katzenthalerhof on Brandiswaalweg and in the "Hännsl am Ort" vineyard in Mitterlana. Wine, nature, old stone walls & wine cellars. Enjoy a delicious chestnut soup and traditional chestnut bread and taste farm made wines. Last but not least, we roast chestnuts together on the open fire. Every farmer’s wife has her culinary secrets! At the farmer’s kitchen on the Raiffeisenplatz market square, Scena's farmers’ wives offer authentic traditional and tasty specialities. "Törggelen" is a popular autumn custom for enjoying harvest fruits like chestnuts, apples and grapes. Ham and cheese, young wine and local dishes, all taste so much better when enjoyed in company and good music!

ONLY IN GERMAN! From the beginning of October, at the end of the grape harvest, until the beginning of the pre-Christmas season is "Törggelezeit". After leisurely walks through the golden autumn landscape, guests and South Tyroleans enjoy the products of the harvest, especially chestnuts and new wine (Sußer). On this week's hike we visit the Florerhof farm. We take the bus from the village centre of Schenna to Verdins and hike via the Wieser Steig up to the Schenner Waalweg until we reach the Florerhof farm and after a cosy stop for refreshments we walk back down to St. Georgen. From the starting point you are free to decide whether to return on foot or by bus. Of course, a Törggelemenü and hearty music are not to be missed! From the centre of Barbiano/Eisacktal we hike in the direction of the ‘Trimm Dich Weg’, past the sports zone to ‘Bad Dreikirchen’, with its three unique chapels built next to each other. We walk along the easy forest path to the ‘Briol’ inn and on to the upper (45 m high) and lower waterfall (85 m high), the highest point of the hike. Now it's downhill and back to the starting point. Elevation gain: approx. 600 m Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours Difficulty: moderate

You love apples, but have never thought about who is behind the juicy-sweet vitamin bombs? Then a guided apple tour through the orchards is just the thing for you. Our apple farmer accompanies you through the apple meadows and tells you interesting facts about the diverse fruit. Afterwards, farmers Gitti and Sepp will make, bake and, of course, taste Apfelkiachl (apple fritters). Sheep shearing is the very first step in the journey "from sheep to sweater" – a traditional craft that requires skill and experience. At the MuseumPasseier, professional sheep shearer Albert will demonstrate how sheep are sheared, while Annelies shares fascinating facts and stories about sheep and their role in local culture. The tour continues at Spinnradl, a local business where regional sheep's wool has been processed into unique knitted jackets since 1948. Owner Franz will guide you through the workshops, giving you an up-close look at the entire process – from washing the wool, carding, spinning, and knitting, all the way to sewing the finished garments. To round off the experience, you'll get hands-on and creative during a felting workshop – an authentic craft adventure for all ages! Three castels in one night ("Drei Burgen in einer Nacht") in Prissian/Prissiano, is a short walk with torchlights from Castel Fahlburg to the Castle Wehrburg and to Castel Katzenzungen meanwhile you enjoy cultural and culinary surprises and at the end of the evening will be serverd a degustation dinner based on the local chestnut. Our farmer will guide you through their fields, explains you about the healthy ingredients, the production area and about all sorts and brands of the South Tyrolean apple. Gain insight into the secrets of the apple farmers - from the latest technology of today and the gnarled giants of the past. Afterwards, you can taste for yourself.

We take the Hirzer cable car up to the mountain station – the starting point for our scenic hike with guaranteed views. Autumn here is at its finest: golden larches, crisp mountain air, and breathtaking vistas that invite you to pause and breathe deeply. Our trail leads us across glowing alpine meadows to Mahdalm, where a well-earned rest awaits. Whether you indulge in the famous "Hirtennudeln" (pasta) or simply soak up the sun, this is the perfect place to recharge. After the break, we continue on to the mid-station before floating gently back down to the valley by cable car. Experience Chestnuts and Wine in Lana – in the chestnut grove of the Törggelehof and the vineyards of the organic Zollweghof Winery. A guided walk through nature, history, and ancient wine cellars: taste and enjoy chestnuts and wines with winemaker and nature guide Irmgard Windegger. Includes a small surprise picnic in the chestnut grove, wine tasting, organic snacks, and roasted chestnuts at the Zollweghof organic winery.

At the Algund Farmers' Market from October 23rd to 26th, fresh, regional, and homemade products from all over South Tyrol will be showcased and offered for sale. Join us and be inspired by the variety of agricultural products. Fresh chestnuts will be roasted daily. Two farmers will provide visitors with homemade dishes and serve freshly harvested wines and drinks from their own production. A special program with live music will round off the event.

When the days grow shorter and the plants retreat, it begins – the root-digger season. We turn our gaze downward and encounter ancient medicinal plants whose effects were already known to the legendary “Wurzelsepp”: valerian root calms body and mind, horseradish adds spice and helps with colds, comfrey supports bones and joints. But enjoyment isn’t neglected either: wood avens, evening primrose, and Jerusalem artichoke surprise with their delicate flavor and versatility in the kitchen. Hike through the vineyards of Riffian/Rifiano with local winegrower Michl and dive into the fascinating world of South Tyrolean wine. Along the way, Michl will share insights into the history and cultivation of the vines, different grape varieties, and how the wines are marketed.
