The 12x30 metre artificial ice rink offers locals and guests the chance to do their laps on the shiny surface right in the village centre. Skates and helmets can be rented. Sexual violence often leaves scars that last for generation. What does this mean for victims, families and our society? And how can we work together to break this cycle? A travelling exhibition on the research project TRACES. The supporting programme will be announced on the website.

"Doppio Taglio" (in italian) is a narrative show which, while addressing the topic fortunately much discussed in recent times, of violence against women, stands out for the choice of a transversal perspective: not the story of the victim, nor that of a witness or much less of the executioner, but the curious difference in level of some media mechanisms through which our perception of the fact is shaped.

The transformation of an inconspicuous caterpillar into a motionless chrysalis and finally into a colourful butterfly has always fascinated people.

This special exhibition invites visitors to dive deep into the fascinating world of these amazing insects.

Zeitraum, the fifth exhibition in the Mamming Now series, curated by artists Valeria Ferrari and Johannes Inderst, is dedicated to the evocative power of the objects collected in the Palais Mamming depot. The focus is on collective memory and the emotional ties that everyday, often forgotten objects form with our subconscious. The artists regard the ‘understanding, naming and reordering’ of these artefacts as an act of resistance against forgetting. In this way, the objects take on a new meaning that goes far beyond their original function: they are transformed into veritable ‘fetishes of memory’ and create a space for dreams.

Franz Wanner's first Italian solo exhibition, curated by Kristina Kreutzwald and Martina Oberprantacher, traces his complex artistic research. Using photography, video, words and objects, the artist investigates the past, focusing on the war industry and the use of forced labour in the context of National Socialism, and its effects on society in the present, bringing to light omissions that have been perpetuated over time. For this exhibition, Franz Wanner has also carried out some specific research on the South Tyrolean context and the use of forced labour during the period of the ‘Zone of Operations in the Pre-Alps’, i.e. when the Province of Bolzano was annexed to Nazi Germany.

Kunst Meran Merano Arte hosts AlpiTypes, dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation and connection between lettering, typographic design and lettering painting. The exhibition focuses on applied graphics developed in the first half of the 20th century in the area currently corresponding to South Tyrol, Tyrol and Trentino. Curated by Antonino Benincasa, Massimo Martignoni and Anna Zinelli, AlpiTypes is based on the in-depth research conducted by Benincasa and Martignoni on local graphics. A group of students from the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, Faculty of Design and Art, accompanied by Antonino Benincasa, reinterpreted historical typefaces from incomplete alphabets, which at the time were often made by hand, integrating the missing characters, revealing how the original typographic concept was inspired by European stylistic currents such as Bauhaus, Rationalism, the Wiener Secession, Constructivism and the Arts and Crafts movement. The project is enhanced by the involvement of international graphic designers, who use the fonts to create contemporary typographic posters. The work highlights a quality and topicality of graphic design in the area that is still almost unknown.

A man wanders in and out of a hospital, enjoying interacting with its occupants – doctors, nurses, patients – without being seen. That man is in a coma, and while his body lies in a hospital bed, his essence wanders around and talks to other patients who are currently separated from their mortal bodies. But when the victim of a car accident falls into a coma and is admitted to what used to be his room, everything changes for the man who used to treat his loneliness as a game. Now he will have to start asking himself some more questions about how much, and how, each of us wants to be in the world.

Oak, glass and breathtaking views: The Cantina Merano Winery is a must-visit for anyone who loves architecture, design and wine. During a guided tour of our winery in St. Martin, many exciting and interesting things await you. The Merano Christmas Markets will officially open on 27th November at 5 pm. The opening ceremony on the terrace of the Kurhaus will start the Advent season, rich in atmosphere and tradition.

From 5.30 pm, the Sunshine Gospel Choir will accompany the evening with its engaging and festive music.

The Christmas houses will remain open until 7 p.m., inviting visitors to stroll among the lights and scents of Christmas in the historic centre.
