South Tyrol is renowned worldwide for its majestic mountains, clear Alpine lakes and idyllic walking itineraries. From the meeting point, we will drive together to the starting point of our excursion, located by the Fane Alm car park (1,700 metres). Following the path to Aschila, we will reach the Marblsee lake (2,250 metres) and then the Wildensee lake (2,532 metres), which at 46 metres is South Tyrol’s deepest Alpine lake. The return route will take us through the Labiseben Alm pasture and the Valler Schramme gorge back to Fane Alm. Refreshment points: Fane Alm huts, Labiseben Alm hut. Arrival by public bus via Chiusa to the Villanderer Almen. Our tour starts at the Gasser hut. From here, hiking trail no. 6 leads in the direction of the Lake Totensee, which crosses the extensive pastureland of the Villanderer Alm on a gentle ascent. After around one and a half hours, we reach the Totenkirchl church. The picturesque Lake Totensee is just a ten-minute walk. Surrounded on two sides by high cliffs, it offers a dreamy view of the rocky realm of the Dolomites. Via the Prackfiederer Jöchl we reach the Stöffl Hut where we have lunch. After a leisurely break, we descend back to the Gasser Hut and take the bus back to Laion. He returns to Vienna the following Thursday and his research produces excellent results in the form of Ritten/Renon near Bolzano. Consequently, on the 9th of July, Freud sets off from Karlsbad, where he was staying to recover from a bout of 'American colitis', and joins his family at Klobenstein. This is where the Freuds celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, on 14th September - the enjoyment of their holiday thus being enhanced by love and affection. Traditional Bread Baking at the Tholer Farm The South Tyrolean kitchen is characterised by well-preserved old traditions. Elisabeth and Ernst of the Tholer farm let you sneak a peek behind the curtains and reveal to you their recipe for the traditional Paarl bread. Together you prepare the rye dough, form the bread and bake it in the old stone stove. You learn interesting facts about the rye cultivation and local baking tradition, and receive a recipe and some bread to take with you.

We go by taxi to the Rif. Auronzo Hütte hut (2.333 m): There we start the approximate 5-hour circular hike via trail nr. 101 to the Paternsattel (2.454m) and then on to the Rif. Drei Zinnen Hütte hut (2539m), where we rest for approximate 30 minutes. Via trail nr. 105 we continue to the Langalm (2240m) and come back to the starting point. We take the bus to Vierschach/Versciaco and from there the cable car up to the Helm (2.050 m). The Olperl’s Nature Park starts directly at the mountain station of the Helm cable car and leads to Olperl's best friends - into the realm of the alpine animal world. On the 1,5 km long circular trail you can discover 10 exciting adventure points - with great views of the summit world of the Sesto Dolomites. Exploring Olperl's Natur Park on the highest barefoot trail in the Dolomites (2.150 m) is soothing and healthy. Soft moss, fragrant larch wood, stone slabs or pebbles revitalise the foot reflex zones before the feet are bathed in cooling spring water. What varieties of mushrooms inhabit the forests of Alta Badia across different seasons? How do mushrooms contribute to the balance and biodiversity of forest ecosystems? What cultural and historical role do mushrooms play? How can the properties of mushrooms illuminate new paths in pharmacological science? What responsible and sustainable methods can be adopted in mushroom foraging? At least once, we've all 'gone' mushroom picking. But there's a difference between going and truly seeing. In the company of Andrea, an enthusiastic mycologist, it's possible to view the forest from the mushroom's perspective. This shift in viewpoint is exhilarating, fascinating, and unique: suddenly, the mushroom is not just a fruit of the earth but a connector that binds every form of life within the forest ecosystem. We are in the forests of La Val, areas that transform with the seasons, home to a variety of mushrooms that includes more than just the familiar porcini and chanterelles. With Andrea, the journey becomes a sensory and cognitive adventure where each encountered mushroom serves as a pretext for stories of ecology, biology, and chemistry. Thus, learning transforms into an art: the art of identifying, collecting, and respecting mushrooms and of discovering the wonders of the fungal kingdom, thanks to their extraordinary medicinal properties that often have anticipated new frontiers in pharmaceutical research. Every year in August, a particularly large number of shooting stars flit across the night sky. From 17 July to 24 August, the so-called "Perseids" reach their peak this year. This is also the case on Tuesday, 13 August and the Knottnkino cinema in Vöran is the ideal place to keep an eye out for the "lucky charms". Bring a picnic blanket, listen to the pleasant sounds of Julian and Jana and enjoy some tasty snacks ... Members of the South Tyrolean amateur astronomers "Max Valier" will also be there, with telescopes and interesting stories to tell about the night sky.
