It is not for nothing that Mt. Eidechsspitze is among the most popular peaks in the Pfunders mountains. Starting from the Winnebachtal car park (1,412 metres), we will climb our way to the Tiefrastenhütte hut (2,312 metres) and the Tiefrasten lake. From there, a narrow trail negotiates the rough stretch to the picturesque Kompfossee lake (2,442 metres). Finally, a steep ascent over the flank leads to the Eidechsspitze summit (2,738 metres), where a uniquely rewarding panoramic view awaits. The way back is along the same route. The Ötzi Glacier Tour is an extremely varied one day round tour, which crosses the main chain oft the Alps. It takes place every Tuesday and upon request. The undisputed highlight of this accompanied glacier trekking tour is the discovery site of Ötzi the Iceman (3,210 m). Starting from Kurzras. From the mountain terminal of the Glacier Cable Car, we will travel over the Hochjochferner (2,800 m/9,186 ft.) to the Schwarze Wand and on to the Hauslabjoch (3,280 m./10,761 ft.) We will then descend to the Tisenjoch (3,210 m/10,532 ft.), the site where Ötzi was discovered. Return to the Similaun Refunge in the early afternoon. Some things are worth an early rise, even on holiday. You will be rewarded with the unique experience of an Alpine sunrise. We will take the cable car to reach an altitude of 2,000 metres and set off in the dark, experiencing how the new day arises from the silence of the night one step at a time. After an easy hike (approx 40 minutes, 130 meters elevation gain) to the Steinermandl panoramic platform, we will savour the magical moment when the first sun rays bathe the mountains in their bright light. The experience is rounded off by a stopover for refreshments at a mountain hut. (Consumption against payment) The descent by cable car is available from 8:30 a.m. Warm clothing is recommended. Take the cable car from Kurzras to the glacier. The rest of the route takes you to the glacier tongue. From here, you will use harnesses, crampons and a rope to cross the Hochjochferner glacier. ONLY IN GERMAN AND ITALIAN From Radein, we hike uphill along the varied Zirmersteig trail, which offers impressive views into the Bletterbach Cannyon. The final part of the ascent to the Weißhorn leads over rocky terrain. Surefootedness is required! On the descent, we stop at the Gurndin Alm and continue to Jochgrimm, where the bus will pick us up. Since the stop is near the end of the hike, we recommend bringing some snacks for the way. Approach into the Schnalstal Valley (ca. 1 hour) to the starting point in Vernagt/Vernago. The ascent is via Tisental Valley to the Similaunhütte refuge at 3,020 m. After a rest, the route continues over partly pathless boulder terrain to the discovery site, where a stone pyramid stands. Here you will find lots of information about how Ötzi was found.
