On our autumn hike, we start at the parish church in Mittertal/Jaufental and hike along the Sennerbergbach up to the Sennerberg at 1,597 meters (approx. 300 vertical meters). On the way, we are enchanted by the untouched nature, which gives the area a very special energy. After a short break with a picnic, we continue our way back and visit the Sennerhof farm. There we have the opportunity to experience life on a farm up close and taste delicious, home-made goat products. The small farm store also offers the possibility to buy regional specialties.

In the quiet autumn months, before the first snow falls, you can learn interesting facts about the nature and culture of alpine farming. Agricultural scientist and sheep farmer Joachim Schwarz will accompany you on this journey through nature and culture.

The “Törggelen” season is the fifth season in Brixen and its surroundings. Together with you, we would like to take a look behind the scenes of this tradition, learn about the origins of wine in Brixen and uncover the secrets of “Törggelen” cuisine. We walk from Brixen to the Griesser Hof winery, situated on a sunny hill. There we are welcomed by winegrower Paul, with whom we taste his wines in the wine cellar. We continue along the “Keschtnweg” trail and stop off at Burgerhof Meßner farm inn. Together with organic winegrower and chef Johannes, we prepare South Tyrolean dumplings and learn about his philosophy of sustainable farming. A true adventure on the sunny plateau: the autumnal custom of "Törggelen" is a delight for visitors and locals alike. Understandably, for it is the ideal combination of exercise in the fresh air and culinary delights. Hike from the Rielingerhof to the ruins of Stein Castle (approx. 20 minutes). Afterwards, a welcome drink and reading at the farm. Free admission. The fourth volume of the popular crime series featuring the Bolzano detective duo Magnabosco and Pasqualina will be presented in German.

The guided hike with Günther leads through old farmsteads and mountain restaurants, through sloping vineyards, chestnut groves and orchards. You will have the possibility to learn more about typical farms and the winegrowing during a wine tasting at the Prackfoler farm. The lunch with traditional dishes at the Innerperskoler farm inn is not only a culinary pleasure, it helps you to recharge your batteries for the hike back to the starting point. Wine tasting: the three wines from the Prackfolerhof will be tasted. Children receive juices for free. Leaves in hues of gold and scarlet-red begin to dot the mountains, and the aroma of grapes, ripened by the summer sun, still wafts through the vineyards. This is the environment in which the Törggelen tradition was born: the farmers would invite friends and neighbors to their wine cellars and cozy Stuben parlors in order to celebrate the crushing of the grapes. Today, in keeping with authentic practice of the tradition, chestnuts from neighboring groves are served together with homemade wine, and visitors can sample local specialties. As part of the Original Törggelen event, rural taverns known as Buschenschänke have been selected that meet the quality criteria of the Red Rooster brand. This year there are 18 taverns: located in the Isarco/Etschtal Valley, around Bozen and Meran, and along the Wine Route. The taverns in the Isarco/Etschtal Valley are connected to one another by the Eisacktal Chestnut Trail ("Keschtnweg"). Inauguration The bonfire of chestnuts, or Keschtnfeuer, will be lit at 7 p.m., kicking off the Original Törggelen event at all nine Buschenschänke taverns. In addition to serving fine wines, roasting chestnuts and preparing local specialties, the farmers will conduct tours and wine tastings starting at 6 p.m. Advance bookings are required at the participating farms (limited number of participants).

ONLY IN GERMAN! From the beginning of October, at the end of the grape harvest, until the beginning of the pre-Christmas season is "Törggelezeit". After leisurely walks through the golden autumn landscape, guests and South Tyroleans enjoy the products of the harvest, especially chestnuts and new wine (Sußer). On this week's hike we visit the Holznerhof. We take the bus from the village centre of Schenna up to Verdins and hike via the Wieser Steig through the Vallplatz forest to the Holznerhof and after a cosy stop we descend to the Pichler restaurant. From the starting point you are free to decide whether to return on foot or by bus. A Törggelemenü and hearty music are of course not to be missed! The starting point is Weißbrunn at the far end of the Ultental Valley. We hike through larches and Zirmenwald forest high above the valley to the rear Flatschberg Alm. Join us on an exciting hike through the alpine Seebertal Valley! We start in Moos/Moso and drive together to the Seeberkehre hairpin bend, the starting point of our tour. From there, we'll walk to Seebersee lake, surrounded by moraines, debris walls, and deep crevices: impressive remnants of once-powerful glaciers. Along the way, you'll learn how nature has adapted to the harsh conditions. Despite the seemingly inhospitable environment, plants and animals have found their place here. Let yourself be inspired by the history of the glaciers and the unique flora and fauna. After the hike, enjoy the panoramic views with a delicious lunch at Oberglaneggalm hut. Guided autumnal walk with stop at the "Törggelestube Gostnerhof". The farmer Luis shows you how to make "Barbianer Keschtn". With the "Keschtnpfanne" of course! We'll guide you through the colorful autumn in South Tyrol. Meeting point at 10am at the Information Office Barbian. Hiking time: 3.5 hours, return at around 4pm, easy hike, good footwear, rain shelter. We take the bus to the South of South Tyrol, reaching Neumarkt. From there, we follow the road into the Fleimstal, passing Montan and the San Lugano Pass before arriving in Altrei (1200 m), the starting point of our hike. From the village center, an old cobbled path gently ascends through the forests of the Monte Corno Nature Park, leading us to the idyllic Langmoos biotope. The trail then continues on a forest road up to the Krabes Alm (1529 m), beautifully located on wide alpine meadows with magnificent views of the Lagorai range, and offering the chance for a relaxing stop. After our lunch break, we descend across flower-filled pastures and open larch groves towards the Ziss Pass. Following the forest road, and passing a Kneipp facility, we return to Altrei, where the bus will be waiting to take us back home.

Have you ever seen the inside of a hydroelectric power plant? Do you know how eco-friendly electricity is generated from water? The Passeiertal Valley is one of the most water-rich valleys in South Tyrol. For decades, the power of water has been harnessed here to produce sustainable energy in numerous hydroelectric power stations. On a hike from St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo along part of the impressive Passer Gorge "Passerschlucht", you'll have the opportunity to visit the Gomion power plant. During an exciting guided tour, Sepp will tell you more about the history and technology of the facility – you'll get first-hand insight into how clean electricity is generated from water. Along the way, we'll stop for a break at the Hinterbruggerhof inn and enjoy a traditional "Marendebrettl" with regional specialties. After this cozy rest, we'll head back to St. Leonhard/S. Hidden in the upper Passeiertal Valley at 2,355 meters lies the historic Schneeberg mine. It was once the largest ore mining area in Europe. Since 1967, operations have ceased. Join hiking guide Franz on this exciting tour and learn first-hand about the history of mining and the tough lives of the miners. After the ascent, we'll stop at the mountain hut in St. Martin am Schneeberg for a well-deserved lunch. Afterwards, we'll explore the adventure mine and experience the tunnels up close. Idyllically located churches and chapels, richly adorned monasteries, castles and fortresses: on Saturday, 11 October, and Sunday, 12 October 2025, the Romanesque Days offer a rare opportunity to discover an exciting art period in many different ways. A total of 33 cultural sites across South Tyrol and nearby Switzerland will open their doors for free guided tours. Step into monastic life of the past, explore chapels usually closed to the public, discover artistic treasures in castles and fortresses, and listen to music and texts from ancient manuscripts – these and many other extraordinary experiences await during the Days of Romanesque Art. Through exclusive and free guided tours, visitors can admire hidden beauties and historical secrets of well-known or lesser-known monuments and sacred buildings from the period between 950 and the mid-13th century. On this special occasion, the castle chapel at Hocheppan Castle also welcomes all those interested. Free guided tours take place every half hour between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Considered one of the most important Romanesque monuments in South Tyrol, the chapel impresses with its valuable frescoes. The wall paintings, only fully uncovered in 1926, date back to the first decade of the 13th century. In addition to religious motifs, they also include rare secular depictions, such as a hunting scene on the outer wall. Particularly famous are the frescoes of the foolish virgins and the "dumpling eater" – the first known pictorial representation of Tyrolean dumplings. The Days of Romanesque Art offer a unique chance to discover South Tyrol’s cultural and historical treasures and to experience the fascinating architecture and artwork of the Romanesque period up close. From the bridge on the road to the Timmelsjoch Pass at the end of the Val Passiria valley, we begin our hike along the high-altitude trail “Tiroler Höhenweg,” which gently ascends through the forest. The final section climbs more steeply, leading us up small switchbacks to the Monteneve mine. We take a break at the Monteneve inn to refresh ourselves, then continue on to the “Obere Gostalm” mountain pasture, before returning to the road to the Timmelsjoch Pass.
