The Localities

Sun, Wine Pleasures, and Hiking Delights

The four villages of Auer/Ora, Montan/Montagna, Neumarkt/Egna, and Salorno/Salurn are located directly along the South Tyrolean Wine Road. As far as the eye can see, idyllic vineyards shape the landscape. The grape varieties Pinot Noir, Lagrein, Chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer thrive particularly well on the sun-kissed hills. In wineries, wine cellars, restaurants, and inns, you can enjoy some of the finest wines.

Do you enjoy an active holiday in Südtirols Süden? The legendary Castelfeder hill, with its ancient ruins, historic cultural sites, lush meadows, and breathtaking views over the Adige Valley, is a popular destination all year round. If you’re looking for more extended tours on foot or by bike, the Trudner Horn Nature Park is the perfect choice. It is one of the most biodiverse nature reserves in South Tyrol.

A Holiday Full of Pleasure in the Sun-Kissed Wine Villages

The sun-kissed wine villages of Kurtatsch/Cortaccia, Margreid/Magrè, and Kurtinig/Cortina sulla Strada del Vino are located just before the regional and linguistic border in the southernmost part of South Tyrol. The landscape of Südtirols Süden is shaped by vast vineyards and apple orchards, interspersed with cypresses, palm trees, and olive trees. Thanks to the exceptionally mild climate, cycling, hiking, mountain biking, and climbing can be enjoyed here almost all year round. The renovated noble residences, modern wineries, and traditional buildings are fascinating destinations. Also worth visiting are the "Zeitreise Mensch" Museum in Kurtatsch/Cortaccia and the educational wine trail.

The High South of South Tyrol

Aldein/Aldino, Altrei/Anterivo, Truden/Trodena, and Jochgrimm bring together nature, traditions, and activities for every season.
In Aldein, you'll find the GEOPARC Bletterbach, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Dolomites that reveals millions of years of Earth's history.
Altrei enchants visitors with its mild climate and the rare Altreier Coffee, made from lupins—a truly special local delicacy.
Truden is located in the heart of the Trudner Horn Nature Park and is the ideal starting point for exploring 400 kilometers of hiking and mountain biking trails.

Neumarkt/Egna – One of the "Borghi più belli d’Italia"

Neumarkt was already a thriving trading center in the Middle Ages thanks to its favorable geographic location and is now the cultural and economic hub of Südtirols Süden. The village includes the idyllic hamlets of Mazon, Vill, and Laag. It is no surprise that this picturesque town is among Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, the Borghi più belli d’Italia.
A stroll through the historic center reveals long arcades, elegant residences, and magnificent courtyards. Cobbled alleyways, trickling fountains, and lush gardens create a truly charming atmosphere. Take your time to experience "Dolce vita" in Neumarkt—chat with locals in one of the many small wine bars or at regional food festivals, and recharge your energy while hiking in the surrounding landscape.

Geoparc Bletterbach gorge

During the last glacial period, the stream dug a deep gorge and formed the so-called "South Tyrol's Grand Canyon" at the foot of the Weisshorn mountain. It's the largest gorge of the region and is open to visitors from May 1.
