In 1946, Emil Gutweniger opened the first toy shop in the historic Bozner Lauben in Bolzano. After 60 years under the Bozner Lauben, the new location was inaugurated in 2005 in Dr. Streiter Gasse, at the corner of Vintlergalerie. Today we are the first and largest shop in this gallery and also known as the shop with the slide.

 

Our shop has been run as a family business for 3 generations and about 14 employees support us in our work every day. We are happy to assist you with helpful tips and ideas, because we know what is important when it comes to play and can cater for different age groups. A personal conversation with us is sure to lead to a satisfactory result. We replace the search engine on the Internet for you and, in addition, you can touch the goods with us, partly also test them and take them away immediately.

Money bags, belts, hand and shoulder bags, briefcases, key fobs, credit card cases, photo albums and much more awaits you in our shop in Sarentino Village. Quill embroidery, natural leaf and wood print turn our products into unique pieces: with dedication and creativity, we are happy to personalize your favorite pieces as you wish.

The Guggenbräu beer firm is located in Avigna/Afing at an altitude of 960 m and was first mentioned in 1379. It has been family-owned for 198 years. The main activity was dairy farming, products such as butter and eggs were sold on the market in Bolzano and milk was delivered to the dairy. Unfortunately, this activity was no longer profitable and so they looked for alternatives. The idea of ​​brewing beer arose from the wild hop plants that have always been climbing up a wall above the courtyard. Grain was grown in the fields around the farm before, so it was nothing new for Hans. So again, barley and wheat were cultivated for the farm's own beer production. In 2019, 7 different aroma hops were grown, which can bring a wide variety of exciting aromas to beer. As we had all the raw materials we needed for a purely agricultural beer, we started selling in autumn 2020.

You cross the threshold in semi-darkness, turning your back on the traffic of the city, and suddenly there comes the surprise: you are in the Dolomites, among majestic peaks and green pastures. This is the magic of Panopticum, the entrance to the Thuniversum, with striking views of the beauties of South Tyrol projected on huge screens on the walls. After diving into nature, your eyes will be delighted by other beauties: the Thun creations, exhibited in the various rooms of the shop, range from table decorations to the celebration of the most special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries and Christmas. And don’t forget the hand-painted Limited Editions ceramic dedicated to THUNIVERSUM. This is a veritable explosion of colours, gentle curves and enveloping fragrances that guide you in discovering the many worlds of THUN.

During a guided tour you can learn everything about beekeeping. You will get an insight behind the scenes of beekeeping, learn everything about our honey, pollen and propolis production, get to know our bees and can enjoy a honey tasting with all our honey varieties. There are also many exciting things to discover on a tour of our beehive. Above all, however, you can immerse yourself in the world of bees and be amazed, feel, smell and hear.    

The Fuganti sisters opened the shop at the end of the 1950s to supply
the district with the necessary products needed for sewing, knitting,
embroidery and crochet work. Back then, most of us would still
make our own clothing and our grandmothers and mothers could be
seen altering and patching up clothes regularly. The popular haberdashery
store changed ownership twice before three friends turned
their hobby into their daily breadwinner in 2018 – or rather, turned
their hobby into a business which also hired a part-time employee.
Besides selling haberdashery such as buttons, zippers, yarns, etc.
the store also sells sewing machines and provides technical support,
gentle detergents with surfactants of vegetable origin, house and
intimate linen, and a huge selection of knitting wool. Since the
three women love sewing, knitting and crocheting, you know you
can trust their advice. A sustainable hobby? Repairing zippers. Their
passion led them to organise knitting cafes and various sewing and felt workshops in their shop. The pandemic didn’t stop them, as they
organised the same sessions on the Talvera meadows along the river
on Friday afternoons and evenings. Great events which unite different
generations and provide a meeting spot for the people living in
the neighbourhood.

Alpine Kingdom

Our products are exclusively made from the wood of the Queen of the Alps - the pinewood - which is found on alpine terrain, above the tree line and which is felled by the waning moon. Carefully handcrafted, the moon wood is used to produce Silvador - products from pinewood.

Located in Piazza delle Erbe / Obstplatz, right in the gastronomic heart of the city, Butcher's shop Egger pampers all meat lovers with tasted and genuine products.

The 20Twenty Commercial Centre offers a unique combination of services in Alto Adige: a pet shop, a supermarket, a sales point for electric and electronic goods, clothes retailers, a jewellers, a perfumery, a videogames shop, a shop for shoes and leather items, an opticians and a games store. The gastronomic offer includes Asian specialities, tex-mex dishes, pizza and roasted meats, ice-cream, and of course a wide choice of coffees.

He came with his family from Veneto to South Tyrol in the 1930s as
a small child. At first, they lived in San Candido, where the railwayman’s
father was punished because he was anti-fascist. So they soon
moved to Bolzano on Via Torino, where Renzo Facincani worked and
lived for a lifetime right next to the district optician shop he opened
in 1960. He had learned the trade at another well-known optician’s
who would have liked to hand over his shop to him. However,
Renzo wanted to open his own business and provide a service to
his neighbours. And that’s exactly what he did, stopping just shortly
before his death in 2020. He worked six days a week, and became
a household name as an expert optician as well as repairing and
adapting lenses. The store has been run since the year 2000 by
son Roberto Facincani, representing the second generation of the
family-run business.

This is an old and famous brewery in Bolzano Bozen, where you can taste and buy some special beers, such as "Batzen Hell" (blond beer, Vienna style), "Batzen Dunkel" (dark beer), "Batzen Weisse" (wheat beer), "Batzen Pils" and other kinds of beer.

In the third generation, this centuries old craft is cultivated in the quill embroidery Thaler. The artistically embroidered with quill pen "Sarner Geldtaschen", traditional belts and other products are known and loved far beyond the valley. Each piece is unique and in order personally made for the customer. Sting by stitch with the awl creates a piece of personality on the finest cowhide, calfskin or goatskin long life. For centuries bacon, handles and peasant sausages were produced at the Grammhof (1,500 m asl). The special herbal mixture according to the traditional farmer's recipe and the smoking with selected conifers we have maintained in our company in Sarentino Village until today.

Luca Pintimalli is a bona fide coffee maestro, a passion he has
nurtured from a very early age all thanks to his mother. She’d discovered
the café boasting its very own roastery. It was love at first
sight. “The first exclusive roastery in Bolzano, a universe of green
coffee beans and an aroma which wafted across the entire neighbourhood.”
His parents purchased Tropical Caffè in 1981 from the
previous owners, who’d been running it for two generations in the
Europa-Novacella neighbourhood. Luca was brought up between
jute coffee bags and behind the shop’s counter. He contributed
more to the business as his mother, Nadia, started to decline due
to a severe sickness; in 2014, she passed away, and Luca decided to
interrupt his studies in Padova and Trento to dive headfirst into the
universe of coffee. He never looked back and was swept away by the
world of coffee, raw materials, and supply chains, making him the
coffee expert he is today.
Your senses come alive upon crossing the tiny café’s door. You’re
enveloped in a sweet, heady aroma of coffee, and your gaze sweeps
over the coffee grinders and all the other necessary equipment, select chocolate pralines, Italian sugared almonds, and rare sweets,
until it rests on the valuable coffee beans from the four corners of
the world. Aha! The culprits of that wonderful aroma. The café is a
meeting point for all coffee gourmands from the neighbourhood
and the city at large. If you fancy tasting the same coffee prepared
using different methods – from an espresso machine through a
French press, paper filter to much, much more, you’re in coffee Eldorado.

The Plattner farm house in Costalovara is more than 600 years old. The Gramm Family, a mercantile family from Bolzano, has carried out an exemplary restoration of it liaising closely with the provincial historic preservation agency and so, also because of its unique location, it is one of the most picturesque farmsteads in the region. Today it accommodates a bee-keeping museum that illustrates in a lively and vivid way the sweet art of making honey. The magnificent Plattnerhof is the largest private collection of South Tyrol’s beekeeping and it is also a monument of rural architecture and savoir vivre. A nature trail on the picturesque hill near to the house explains the world of bees to visitors.

In the 1930s, many Italian families moved to Bolzano following the
Italianisation policy implemented by the fascist regime in South
Tyrol. The immigration wave was also a result of the attempt to
industrialise the city and so, like many others, Bembo Bartolomei
moved with his family from the province of Lucca to the Alps. Bembo
founded the Bartolomei café and, while today the Bartolomeis
no longer run the establishment, it was left in good hands to another
immigrant. Hired as a young waiter, Roberto Fontana was born
in Valdastico, and he owes his staying in Bolzano to the family-run
café. It didn’t take him long to meet his business partner while out
and about pursuing his passion – paragliding. Peter Zingerle, pâtissier-
cum-paraglider, was a household name in Bolzano until he passed
away in 2017. He delighted everyone with his sweet temptations in
his patisserie – a Bolzano institution – in Via Druso. One fine day he
convinced Roberto to take over the long-established Italian cafe together
– and to sell Zingerle sweets there, of course. An endeavour
which became reality in 1995. The rest, as they say, is history.

History
If you were ever to wonder what someone from the Don Bosco
neighbourhood looks like, then simply hit up Fabio Gambaroni, who
was born and brought up here. Back in the day, he and his grandmother
bought his first watch at the Juwelier Resia, then owned by
Elena Mittempergher, and who shared the premises with a watchmaker.
A small, simple range of products stood to attention: yellow
gold necklaces, silver bracelets for men, and some watches. Fabio
Gambaroni took over the shop in 1993 when he was only 24. He
loves his job and has been serving people on his own ever since.
Stand-out traits
Talking is something Fabio is good at, be it for a chat or when advising
potential customers. If there’s a request, he’ll see to it, is what
he says with a big smile on his face. His attitude and the simple,
stylish interiors are what make the store so appealing in the first
place. He’s not interested in competing against the other, big dealers
– he’d much rather focus on slipping between the cracks they
leave open, providing traditional and extraordinary items of jewellery.
He’s also happy to change watches’ batteries or refer people to
the right person if more complex repairs are required.
