A visit in the afternoon is particularly worthwhile: home-baked cakes meet the finest ice cream from local manufacturer Venostes - a sweet break with a panoramic view, right in the centre of Val Senales.

Visit us at 2.214 meters above sea level. Breathtaking views in the surroundings of mountain peaks await you on the idyllic hike up to the Bergl Alm. After walking through roaming larch forests stop at the cozy Café for some delicious regional food – these are just some of the many adventures awaiting you on your hiking trip through the famous Val Senales (Schnalstal). You can easily reach us via one of the many hiking routes, some of which lead all the way to Kortsch/Schlanders in Vinschgau. The Bergl Alm is the perfect spot for families with children, who will be able to play freely in the alpine meadow and our own little playground, while their parents relax in the sun.

Café - Bar - Bistro and more... Our coffee is really delicious. For a snack, you can choose from delicious toasts, baguettes… Here you can read your favorite newspaper in peace and quiet or enjoy a chat with friends.The café also has a spacious smoking area and a nice terrace.

Finailhof farm, at an altitude of 1973 m above sea level and with a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks and of Vernagt Lake, is steeped in history. In 1416, the farmer at Finailhof farm apparently provided refuge to Duke Friedrich IV who was on the run with not a penny in his pocket, allowing him to work as a farm hand tending the sheep. The Duke’s beaker and cutlery are still on display at the farm today. Finailhof farm can be reached on foot along several different trails and is also easily accessible by car. We will be happy to spoil you with our traditional Tyrolean farmhouse cuisine made mainly from our own home-grown produce and served on our sun terrace with its panoramic view. We are open seven days a week all year round (please book in advance for evenings and in the winter months).

What would a holiday be without relaxation and good food? At Hotel Gerstgras, pleasure is all that matters each single day. Our chef de cuisine spoils your palate with genuine Tyrolean specialties, but also dishes from Italian cuisine. On request, we also offer vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free dishes.

From Naturns to Schnalstatl and turn off at the Pfossental to the Gasthaus Jägerrast, park there and walk for 1.5 hours on foot to the Eishof.

At the glacier skiing area in the rustic Schnalstal valley, slopes start at up to 3,200 m elevation. From September to May, the long ski season is also popular with international skiing and cross-country skiing professionals for high-altitude training. In just minutes, the highest-climbing cable car in South Tyrol takes visitors from the village of Maso Corto/Kurzras to the snow-secure slopes, where there are pistes for all skill levels. Almost half of these are black! The "Teufelsegg", for instance, is notorious, while the new slalom training course "Leo Gurschler" with a gradient of up to 60% and the "Schmuggler" ski run into the valley are both challenging. Schnalstal valley is also known as a fantastic ski touring region: Many of the surrounding 3000-m peaks can be reached without long climbs. Finally, the demanding "Ötzi Glacier Tour" takes visitors to the Tisenjoch, the discovery site of the famous iceman, or you can start the "Ötztaler Runde" circuit.

Leos Pub, directly in the Piccolo Hotel Gurschler, is the perfect place to meet new people and celebrate with a glass of wine, a cocktail or an original farmer's schnapps.

Our farm is located on 1,814 m a.s.l over the Vernagt Stausee reservoir. A beautiful walk (way no. 7) leads along the sunny side, with view onto the lake from the Tisenhof to Maso Corto. Over the farmstead lies the Similaun hut, on 3,019 m a.s.l.

The ski tour to Langgrubjoch is still relatively popular. It is relatively easy and not as challenging as the tours on the high neighbouring peaks. However, it does rise to over 3,000 m and offers a good insight into the mountain world of Schnalstal Valley.

Bella Vista Mountain Refuge (2,845 meters) is located at the end of Senales Valley and is surrounded by the ice of the Hochjochferner Glacier. Back in 1869, a mountain refuge came into being here in order to allow for crossing back and forth between the Venter and Senales valleys, even in bad weather conditions. Paul Grüner, owner of the Golden Rose Hotel, acquired the mountain refuge in 1999. After an extensive renovation in 2006, the Bella Vista (lit: “Beautiful View”) offers not only the charm of an authentic Alpine lodge and a great deal of comfort, but also some truly special features such as an igloo and the highest-elevation outdoor sauna in Europe.

At the Lazaun Refuge, fun meets good things Deciding to take a break at the Lazaun Refuge means regenerating amid nature, as well as enjoying the pure mountain air. Summer or winter, Val Senales offers a host of opportunities for all: hiking, walking, sledding, skiing, events, a playground with a small zoo for children-- here, everyone can find their place in the sun.

the restaurant Oberraindlhof lies on a cosy hill in the middle of the valley. In this old traditional farmer house, family Raffeiner serves historic dishes, local proucts and finest wines.

Gourmet cuisine with homemade specialities at the foot of the Teufelsegg slope! We attach great importance to the use of regional products and local meat.

Starting point: Certosa/Karthaus (1,327 m a.s.l.)
Ascent: 1,474 m elevation gain, 4 hours
Best time: winter and early spring

Uphill and downhill possible with skis from  to Certosa/Karthaus if the snow conditions are good. Referred to as Gamseck on some maps. The ascent is from Certosa/Karthaus along the road to Farmstead Sennhof and then on the forest path to malga del convento, above Certosa/Karthaus, from there continue southwards to the highest and rather steep ascent to the secondary summit of the Trumserspitze.

Descent A: The same as the ascent route and the road to Certosa/Karthaus.

Descent B: Northwards to malga del convento and along the forest path as far as the viewing point for Certosa/Karthaus and then directly downhill to Certosa/Karthaus through the forest aisle.

For practised skiers

Rableid Alm is situated at an altitude of 2,004 m above sea level in one of the most game-rich valleys of South Tyrol, in the heart of the largest nature park in South Tyrol, the Texel Group Nature Park. One of the most spectacular sections of the Merano High Mountain Trail runs through Pfossental valley too. Hikers, nature lovers and tranquillity seekers alike are captivated by the unique flora and fauna of this high mountain valley. Enjoy a few peaceful hours in our rustic farmhouse parlour or on the sun terrace. Fortify yourself with a delicious hot meal accompanied by a glass of fine wine or treat yourself to a cool beer in a stone tankard. We will spoil you with our homebaked “Vinschger Paarlbot” bread and homemade cheese from our own Alpine dairy.
