The exhibition Imaginarium, is a fascinating and provocative journey into the heart of contemporary photography, where imagination has no limits and technology becomes a boundless tool for creation. Berty Skuber was born in Völs am Schlern and has lived and worked in Völser Aicha for decades, interspersed with longer stays in Venice and Milan and numerous trips. Her exhibition activities, which began in 1970, have taken her far beyond South Tyrol and Italy to various European and American galleries, museums and collections. Berty Skuber works with a wide variety of media in her extensive oeuvre, ranging from painting and drawing to collage, artist's books, sculpture, objects and video. The exhibition shows important stages of her life's work.

The exhibition sheds light on the Peasants' War and its prehistory using archival documents from around 1500, focussing on the social, political and economic aspects of life before and during the peasant uprisings. Through the presentation of archival documents from the Diocesan Archives, works of art and everyday objects, perspectives on the Peasants' War that have been little illuminated to date are shown in order to visualise the multi-layered nature of the historical events and their complex causes. The exhibition builds a bridge between past and present and encourages reflection on the continuity of social upheaval.

Local and seasonal, straight from the producer. Farmers from the surrounding area bring their own farm produce to the Brixen old town centre. Depending on the season, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, flowers, honey, homemade jams and pasta sauces, refined distillates and organically grown herbs as well as wooden handicrafts are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From April to October, local associations prepare fresh tirtln (fried stuffed pastry) on site on a weekly basis. This means that every Saturday is also a culinary experience. This market has been a popular, lively meeting place for locals and guests for 30 years.

On Mother's Day (and as a bonus six days later), the Vinzentinum`s choirs invite you to their final concerts this year. The Vinzentinum Girls' Choir under Clara Sattler and the Vinzentiner Boys' Choir under the direction of Andrea Tasser welcome not only the audience but also numerous guests to the stage on Mother's Day. After Augustin Grieninger and Romanus Weichlein, another South Tyrolean Baroque composer is on the program this year: the South Tyrolean composer Leopold von Plawenn, who came from the small hamlet of Plawenn in the municipality of Mals and worked in the Swabian Benedictine monastery of Zwiefalten, wrote a series of sacred works. The program includes four concertante sacred motets and a Lauretanische Litanei as well as a concertante sacred solo motet. On May 16, Brixen will shine in the spirit of light! The International Day of Light highlights the fundamental importance of light for science, culture, and sustainable development. In 2025, Brixen will host a special event honoring the values of the Water Light Festival – sustainability, creativity, and a deep connection with nature. Under the theme “Water is Life – Light is Art”, a magical interplay of light, water, and art comes to life. While the Water Light Festival returns in 2026, visitors can already experience an inspiring tribute to water places and their symbolic power in Brixen. A spring hike that stimulates all the senses with interesting facts about regional cheese and wine. We visit Hansi Baumgartner, a famous cheese affineur, for a tasting. On the way back, we stop at Sunnegg, a traditional South Tyrolean inn, where we learn about wine production in Brixen and sample their fresh, fruity Sylvaner white wine. The Missa Salisburgensis à 53 voci is a large-scale Baroque mass setting in the style of Venetian polychoral music. The composition, which has survived anonymously, is now attributed to Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. The mass was probably first performed in Salzburg Cathedral in 1682 on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the bishopric of Salzburg. The ensemble Concerto Stella Matutina performs with two vocal choirs, two string choirs, a large continuo, flutes, oboes, cornetts, trombones and 10 trumpets with two timpani.

The ‘Vokalensemble Kulturgarten’ from Regensburg under the direction of Marina Szudra is giving its first concert in the twin town of Brixen. ‘When the earth stands still’, the title piece by the contemporary American composer Don Macdonald, is the programme for a musical pause with works by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, whose 500th birthday we are celebrating this year, Anton Bruckner, Max Reger, Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, Dan Forrest and Knut Nystedt, among others. The impressive atmosphere of the baroque seminary church invites you to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and the hectic pace of everyday life behind and immerse yourself in the sonorous a cappella music. Short texts, read by the ensemble members, round off the programme.

We want to give a message of restart and strength, like the theme given by the International Council of Museums “The Power of Museums” for the event conceived in 1977, with the aim of enhancing the importance of museums to society. Incomparable places of discovery, storytellers of the past and present, museums have the power to open people's minds to new ideas for building a better future, such as through the implementation of sustainable development, accessibility of content through digital innovation, and community building through cultural education.

For a number of years Musik & Kirche and the Tyrol Museum Association have been collaborating on recordings and CD publications devoted to historically valuable organs found in South Tyrol, some of which are rarely accessible to the public. With Peter Waldner, a well-known organist originally from the Vinschgau, four CDs have already been released. This year's recordings will capture the sound of the organs of the Mariahilf Chapel in St. Andrew's (Brixen), the parish church in Salorno, the collegiate church of Saints Candido and Corbiniano, and the parish church of St. Michael in San Candido. A live concert will also be held at the Mariahilf Chapel in St. Andrew (Brixen) on May 18. Free admission

On International Museum Day, the Hofburg Brixen offers free admission and guided tours for young and old alike. The focus is on the Peasants’ Wars, during which the Hofburg was a central location 500 years ago.
