On 30 August 2025, the Tiroler Tageszeitung invites you to the traditional TT Hiking Cup.

The event starts at 08:30 a.m. with the Nesselbahn cable car up to the Gitschberg mountain station (Ticket for the cable car free for children up to 10 years old). From there, participants can choose between two routes:

Family Route (approx. 2.5 hours | 6.8 km):

Gitschberg mountain station → Nesselhütte → Zasslerhütte → Moserhütte → Gumpolt → Außereggen → Meransen event hall

Expert Route (approx. 3.75 hours | 11.2 km):

Gitschberg mountain station → Gitschhütte → Ochsenboden → Pranterstadelhütte/Wieserhütte → Großberghütte → Meransen event hall

Participation in the TT Hiking Cup is free of charge and no registration is required.

Around 12:30 p.m., all hikers will gather at the event hall in Meransen, where a cheerful family festival with musical entertainmant awaits.

The exhibition sheds light on the Peasants' War and its prehistory using archival documents from around 1500, focussing on the social, political and economic aspects of life before and during the peasant uprisings. Through the presentation of archival documents from the Diocesan Archives, works of art and everyday objects, perspectives on the Peasants' War that have been little illuminated to date are shown in order to visualise the multi-layered nature of the historical events and their complex causes. The exhibition builds a bridge between past and present and encourages reflection on the continuity of social upheaval.

We have selected the best trails at the Enduro World Cup venue for you. Conquering these demanding trails requires not only good physical fitness, but also plenty of experience. Although the cable cars make most of the ascents easier, there are still almost 3,000 metres of descent waiting for you to master. If you decide to take this route, you should definitely be able to easily master S2 trails and not shy away from the S3 passages. And remember: it's not just about the adrenaline rush on the trail. Tandem paragliding flights are a great way to experience South Tyrol from a new perspective and see the picturesque landscapes of Meransen and the surrounding area from above with the team from Paragliding - Gitschberg.

The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). IMPORTANT: arrive at the mine at least 10 minutes in advance! Individual special tours are available all year round on request. All prices can be found on the mine's website.

“Regenerated in Hope” is the title of the jubilee initiative that unites the 15 dioceses of Triveneto in a common journey to promote ecclesiastical cultural heritage and the bond between these places and their communities. The diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone is participating in the project with an exhibition in the chapel of St. John in the cloister of Bressanone Cathedral. The chapel, built in the 10th century and part of the cloister of Bressanone Cathedral, contains a baptismal font, which attests to its function as a baptistery, and displays examples of the ecclesiastical heritage of reference: sacred artworks from the Diocesan Museum; ancient documents and a register of baptisms from the Diocesan Historical Archive and the Parish Archive of Bressanone; sacramental books from the Major Seminary Library, special paper supports for the free transcription of visitors' names.

As the third most important "farm" animal (after cattle and pigs), bees pollinate 80% of our crops. The local hiking guide will lead you on this easy circular hike to the show distillery. It goes past high moors, watercourses and alpine meadows. This itinerary takes you from Mühlbach via Vintl and Kiens to Bruneck, along the river Rienz. Regarded as the beating heart of the Pustertal valley, this vibrant little town has a historic centre with a picturesque main street that invites you to stroll and indulge in some retail therapy. After a short stop in Bruneck, the tour follows an alternative route back to Mühlbach. On the way back, you will make a stop at the Capriz show dairy. There, you can enjoy a guided tour of the cheese museum and a tasting of the finest cheeses made from 100% South Tyrolean goat's and cow's milk. Hike along the Stocknertal Trail and Panorama Trail to the mills (including a guided tour) and the earth pyramids. On the way back, visit a local farm shop (Milla Ladile) with product tasting. You will walk along the Stocknertal trail and the panoramic trail that leads to the circular mill path, taking you to the historic grain mills. After the ascent, we tackle a short but demanding climb to the Raschötz Hut. The steep path rewards us with spectacular views. Continuing towards Ausserraschötz, we face a short pushing section. Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere. Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.

Europe’s largest monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. Founded in 1142 by the Bishop of Brixen/Bressanone at the intersection of two important routes - the Brenner and the route to the Pustertal valley - the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery was recognized, among other things, as a hospice and rest area for pilgrims. Today the Monastery makes a name for itself as a place of agriculture, culture and education. From the monastery winery to the herb garden, from the electricity plant to the educational center, several businesses are united in the monastery. The Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery in Vahrn/Varna is the largest Monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. The Monastery has an holistic conception and was independent and versatile from its very foundation. A walk through the Monastery complex will let you understand its size and importance as a former important cultural and economic hub of the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco valley. The first thing that will catch your eye are the architectural elements: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. With the Engelsburg, the late Baroque collegiate church, the Gothic cloister, the miracle fountain, the library’s unique manuscripts and the historic Pinakothek, the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery is one of the most remarkable sights of the Eisacktal valley.

This challenging hike leads to two alpine lakes in the Schalderer Tal valley, ideal for a refreshing dip and picnic. After a short rest, we hike to the Lorenzischarte, which separates the Schalderer Tal from the extensive pastures of the Kühbergalm. In the middle of the Sarntal Alps, a postcard view opens up of the surrounding mountains and the Dolomite massifs opposite.
