South Tyrol is renowned worldwide for its majestic mountains, clear Alpine lakes and idyllic walking trails. From the meeting point, we will drive together to the starting point of our excursion, located by the car park in Dun (1,480 metres). The first stretch of the route will take us along a forest path in the direction of Bodenalm, then we climb a little up to Eisbrugg, where the snow never completely melts. The large, initially flat Eisbruggtal valley will afford us a breather until we climb up to the Kröllhütte hut (2,150 metres). There we’ll begin the final ascent to the Eisbruggsee lake (2,351 metres), which is also the highest point of this excursion. The 3,000-metre peaks of the Pfunders mountains mirrored in the crystal-clear waters of the Eisbruggsee make quite a sight. The way back is along the same route. Helga von Hofe, Laura Pan and Sarah Solderer explore these themes with the help of painting, sculpture, video and a participatory installation. We have selected the best trails at the Enduro World Cup venue for you. Conquering these challenging trails requires not only good physical fitness, but also plenty of experience. Although the cable cars make most of the ascents easier, there are still almost 3,000 metres of descent waiting for you to master. Contemporary art at the Abbey 18.04.-26.10.2024, Mon-Sat from 10am-5pm Artists from South Tyrol will inhabit spaces of Neustift Abbey for a certain period of time, showing site-specific works in the Mühlsaal, an exhibition space with an atelier flair right above the wine bar of the Abbey. Visitors will see the results of interactions with the room itself, the artistic creation process and life in the abbey, expressed in many different artistic media and forms. From 27 April to 28 October, 19 well-known international artists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy will be presenting their impressive works. The variety of materials, including wood, metal, stainless steel and iron, promises a unique exhibition that appeals to all the senses. Immerse yourself in a world of life-size sculptures that transform the Staudenparadies garden into an impressive sculpture park. The exhibition not only serves as a platform for artists to present their work, but also aims to highlight the cultural differences and similarities in sculpture. The focus is also on promoting the regional art scene, giving South Tyrolean artists the opportunity to present themselves on an international level. The aim is to awaken everyone's interest in art and culture and to walk through the world with more open eyes. Come and experience the fusion of nature and art at the first international sculpture exhibition in Staudenparadies. Together we will create an inspiring atmosphere that celebrates artistic creativity and strengthens the community.

The two-part special exhibition shows a representative overview of Robert Pan's oeuvre, while other works by the artist are integrated into the permanent exhibition in the historic building, creating an exciting dialogue with the Baroque furnishings of the imperial and episcopal appartments. This unusual combination opens up a dialogue across epochs: Pan's experimental abstract compositions, which focus on forms, colours and structures, interact with the strongly symbolic works of the Baroque masters. The exhibition thus not only offers the opportunity to trace Robert Pan's artistic development, but also invites visitors to experience the visually appealing contrast between different forms of artistic expression.

Local and seasonal, straight from the producer. Farmers from the surrounding area bring their own farm produce to the Brixen old town centre. Depending on the season, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, flowers, honey, homemade jams and pasta sauces, refined distillates and organically grown herbs as well as wooden handicrafts are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From April to October, local associations prepare fresh tirtln (fried stuffed pastry) on site on a weekly basis. This means that every Saturday is also a culinary experience. This market has been a popular, lively meeting place for locals and guests for 30 years.

The annual highlight of the summer season is the legendary Fane Festival at the end of July. The festival continues to be a wonderful meeting place where old and young, locals and travellers come together to celebrate. Traditionally, the festival opens at 10.30 am with a field mass, after which the aroma of delicious delicacies wafts around the alpine huts: traditional farmhouse dishes such as various dumplings, Kasnockn, Tirtlan and all kinds of strudel are on the menu at the Fane Fest, and rarely are these delicacies prepared as authentically as here.

The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). The pleasant circular hike starts at the large parking lot Saltnerstein and includes a visit at the mountain pine show distillery at the Marzuner Schupfe. Enjoy the open distant view of the Dolomites in the magnificent expanse of the alp. The lunch break is made alternately in one of the hospitable alpine huts. As the third most important "farm" animal (after cattle and pigs), bees pollinate 80% of our crops. For a long time it was very difficult to reach Terenten from the valley. For hundreds of years the village people had to look after themselves. The farmers and craftsmen provided food and clothes. Almost every farm had its own mill. However, only few of them are still fully functional. The educational mills path leads along Ternerbach River. During a 1,5 hour hike you walk past 7 renovated corn mills, some of which are up to 500 years old. This is where farmers used to grain corn into fine flour, and sometimes still do. During the summer months one mill is open to the public every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No registration required.

This excursion is a great opportunity to learn all about the life of mountain farmers. After a one-hour walk to the farm, you can try some freshly baked typical farmer’s bread straight from the old stone oven. The hike will then resume and lead you to the mills’ valley in Terenten, where you can see a collection of ancient grain mills as well as the exciting earth pyramids. You will also get the chance to visit one of the mills that is still in operation. The path is not suitable for prams. This tour is now a must because it's simply fun! The Plose Bike guides have discovered new, challenging trails that are accessible after an additional ascent. But don't worry, for those who want to take it easy, there is still the classic, easier route available. And for those who don't know the tour yet: look forward to three peaks and varied trails: The Gitschberg Jochtal cable cars do most of the elevation gain for us. After a steep, not too long ascent, we reach the Kleine Gitsch and thus our first summit. A varied mix of technical, flowing and rough trails lead us down into the valley of Vals, where a leisurely climb to the next cable car awaits us. After another ride on the cable car, we reach our lunch stop. Refreshed, we have another ascent to the second summit, the Stoanamandl. Take a short breather and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountain landscape. On the third peak, the Alte Karl, we enjoy our third summit moment.
