This is the magic of Panopticum, the entrance to the Thuniversum, with striking views of the beauties of South Tyrol projected on huge screens on the walls. After diving into nature, your eyes will be delighted by other beauties: the Thun creations, exhibited in the various rooms of the shop, range from table decorations to the celebration of the most special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries and Christmas. And don’t forget the hand-painted Limited Editions ceramic dedicated to THUNIVERSUM. This is a veritable explosion of colours, gentle curves and enveloping fragrances that guide you in discovering the many worlds of THUN.

Val Gardena is renown, it is said to be a special and magical valley. Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, this picturesque part of South Tyrol is covered with green woods, serene alpine meadows and embraced by impressive vertical mountain landscapes. For centuries men and women in this valley have developed and perfected a unique ability; that of artisan wood carving. This tradition remains part of local culture today. Top quality materials are hand shaped in sacred and secular sculptures. Sonia Demetz lends to this story with her personal touch; as she draws the figures, and as a final touch, she then hand color-paints each one of them. Sonia’s remarkable skill of wood painting was learned from her mother, in turn, passed down from generations. Today, Sonia continues this artisan tradition with a never-ending commitment and deep passion to make each of her carvings one of a kind.

The success-filled story of one of South Tyrol's best-known companies sounds like a fairy tale. Once upon a time ... about 50 years ago, a married couple decided to turn their dreams into reality.
So began this fairy tale that, far from being over, shows us today a company that produces highly successful ceramic giftware, porcelain tableware and tiled stoves.

Wood carving has a long tradition in South Tyrol‘s Gardena Valley – around 1700, poor farmers took up wood carving as an additional source of income during hard winter months.
This tradition is still alive and we are proud to present our own wood carving enterprise:
ALRA has been a family business since 1992– and our high quality products have gained us a very good reputation in a fairly short time.

Our products include Christmas crib figures, Madonnas, crucifixes, angels, religious and profane figures, available in either natural, stained or coloured wood, according to your requirements.
Upon request, we also produce individual items.

FRANCO is the acronym of FRANz COmploj, founder of the family business.

We have been producing sacral and secular woodcarvings with passion and success since four generations.

Moreover, we are a local partner for wood handicraft, wood toys and Thun ceramics.

Giving pleasure with artistic handicraft is our main objective.

"Nadel da mont", this is what this unique Christmas market, with mountain village character in Selva Val Gardena is called. The idyllic village of Selva is located in the heart of the Dolomites and offers endless ski fun thanks to the connection to the ski carousel "Sellaronda". From the 7th of December to the 6th of January a touch of slope flair will be brought into the village center of Selva. Original Christmas cabins will be floating over many luminous huts and creating a magical Christmas world that can be experienced with all senses.

In the third generation, this centuries old craft is cultivated in the quill embroidery Thaler. The artistically embroidered with quill pen "Sarner Geldtaschen", traditional belts and other products are known and loved far beyond the valley. Each piece is unique and in order personally made for the customer. Sting by stitch with the awl creates a piece of personality on the finest cowhide, calfskin or goatskin long life. The quill embroidery Thaler relies on high quality materials. Uniqueness in design and best craftsmanship.

When carving I become one with the wood. The log itself is already a work of art that holds the figure in itself. My model and the wood form a unity, are together the artwork.

Alpine Kingdom

Our products are exclusively made from the wood of the Queen of the Alps - the pinewood - which is found on alpine terrain, above the tree line and which is felled by the waning moon. Carefully handcrafted, the moon wood is used to produce Silvador - products from pinewood.

We do offer a great selection of wooden sculptures created in our own local laboratory.

The turner Fritz Unterkalmsteiner makes variour shapes of wood.

From the natural sheep wool we create many unique products. Here you will find the genuine Sarner Jangger and handwoven sheep wool carpets. For healthy sleep, we sew beds and pillows with soft wool filling and make cozy wool blankets in natural colors. So you never have cold feet again there are wool socks, shoe inserts made of felt and the well-known Sarner Toppar (Sarner slippers). As a special source of strength and health, we supply wool for wool baths. In addition, there are many smaller and larger items such as lambskins, bags, loden, felt, sheep's milk soap, knitting wool, woolen fleece, felt wool and more.

Visit the cribs exhibition. Wonder at the depictions of Mary and Joseph looking for somewhere to stay, of Baby Jesus’s birth in the cave, the flight from Egypt and… a mountainous landscape. The nativity scene measures 10 m2 in length and sets the scene of peaceful and calm lights and sounds. Children love nativity scenes rich in detail.

Due to my passion for the mountains and especially for alpine mountaineering, I spend a lot of time in nature in summer and winter.
Again and again I see the most wonderful and unique creations and whims of nature.
 The most beautiful ones are often found in inaccessible places and the recovery is usually difficult.
In spite of this, or perhaps because of it, it gives me pleasure to take such pieces and put them in the limelight.
 This hobby soon became a passion and finally the company Mannart was born.
