During the First World War, Sexten had to be evacuated due to its location directly on the Dolomites front. A few summers later, farmers were allowed to return to tend to their fields and acres. So that they could celebrate Holy Mass in secret, the Waldkapelle (forest chapel) was built near the "Holza Schluichte". Today, the Besinnungsweg (meditation path) leads to this magical place of power in the heart of the Sextner forests.

Itinerary
The Besinnungsweg (meditation path) with 14 stations leads from the Sexten parish church to the Waldkapelle chapel (1552 m). Starting from the church, the biblical path begins, marked with trail numbers 5 and 4B. It leads past stations of the Cross to the Höslerhöfe farms and then via field path 4B to the Ladstätterhof farm. From here, the route goes through forests and meadows until the Waldkapelle is reached.
Coming from the Pustertal valley, turn into the Sexten valley in Innichen. If arriving from the Kreuzberg pass, follow the main road until you reach Sexten.
