Discover the Baroque cloister garden at Novacella Monastery. A place of tranquility, shaped over centuries. The cloister garden at Novacella Monastery is one of the most significant historical gardens in South Tyrol. After its faithful restoration in 2004, it is divided into three areas: a tree garden with a pavilion, a herb garden with around 75 medicinal and aromatic plants, and a Baroque ornamental garden with fountains, a bird chapel, and a historic fish pond. To this day, the canons find rest between ancient ginkgo trees and a giant sequoia – and you, too, can experience monastic peace here amidst nature and enjoy a moment of reflection. The Baroque cloister garden can be visited independently from May to September, Thursday to Saturday, during museum opening hours. Price: 5,00€ per person

Europe’s largest monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. Founded in 1142 by the Bishop of Brixen/Bressanone at the intersection of two important routes - the Brenner and the route to the Pustertal valley - the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery was recognized, among other things, as a hospice and rest area for pilgrims. Today the Monastery makes a name for itself as a place of agriculture, culture and education. From the monastery winery to the herb garden, from the electricity plant to the educational center, several businesses are united in the monastery. The Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery in Vahrn/Varna is the largest Monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. The Monastery has an holistic conception and was independent and versatile from its very foundation. A walk through the Monastery complex will let you understand its size and importance as a former important cultural and economic hub of the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco valley. The first thing that will catch your eye are the architectural elements: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. With the Engelsburg, the late Baroque collegiate church, the Gothic cloister, the miracle fountain, the library’s unique manuscripts and the historic Pinakothek, the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery is one of the most remarkable sights of the Eisacktal valley.

The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). IMPORTANT: arrive at the mine at least 10 minutes in advance! Individual special tours are available all year round on request. All prices can be found on the mine's website.

Hike along the Stocknertal Trail and Panorama Trail to the mills (including a guided tour) and the earth pyramids. On the way back, visit a local farm shop (Milla Ladile) with product tasting. Experience an exciting day in nature on a family-friendly hike through Terenten. You will walk along the Stocknertal trail and the panoramic trail that leads to the circular mill path, taking you to the historic grain mills. There, a local farmer will welcome you and provide fascinating insights into the traditional craft of milling and the history of the region. Along the way, you’ll pass the impressive earth pyramids—unique natural monuments formed in 1837 after a severe storm. To round off the day, you'll visit a small but charming farm shop, where you can discover and taste handmade, healthy products. Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere. Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.

Guided autumnal walk with stop at the "Törggelestube Gostnerhof". The farmer Luis shows you how to make "Barbianer Keschtn". With the "Keschtnpfanne" of course! We'll guide you through the colorful autumn in South Tyrol. Meeting point at 10am at the Information Office Barbian. Hiking time: 3.5 hours, return at around 4pm, easy hike, good footwear, rain shelter. This hike leads leisurely along beautiful alpine paths to the Stöfflhütte hut (2057 m). We enjoy marvellous views of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and hear interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the high moor along the way. Route: Kaseregg car park via Trinner Alm on trail no. 15 and no. 1 to the Stöfflhütte hut (refreshment stop), back via trail no. 1. Free guided tours of the Swiss Mountain Pine Oil Distillery on the Alps of Barbiano/Barbian from 14th May until 29th October 2025 every Wednesday from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. We will meet up in the centre of Spinges and start our hike to the Opera 24 bunker. On our way there, we will have the chance to learn intriguing details about the builder of the Holy Sepulchre Chapel (1685) and the historical and artistic heritage of the local parish church and its small museum. We will also find out about the way of life in an 18th century farmer’s parlour, and why 400 people were burnt alive in a local farmhouse. The highest point of our hike is a bunker in Mussolini’s Alpine Wall, where we will learn about its history before enjoying a picnic on site. In the event of adverse weather, we will skip the hike.
