The Val Gardena rail tracks course through the whole valley on a sunny stroll across forests, meadows, villages and local sights. Choose from Roncadizza, Ortisei, S. Cristina or Selva as a starting point. The walk follows the old rail tracks of the Val Gardena locomotive built during WWI (1915-1916) by Russian prisoners. Along the old railway line from La Poza to Santa Cristina you can find the diagram of the snow that fell since 1951.

The route is dedicated to all those who have won a World Cup race since 1969 or a World Championship race in 1970 in Val Gardena, as well as to who believed in the idea of skiing in Val Gardena with great ambition and pioneering spirit.
This themed trail starts in the village center of Selva, behind the Ski School. It is a journey through the history of skiing in Val Gardena, from the beginnings of Alpine skiing, to its establishment as a world-famous ski area which hosts breath-taking ski world cup races every year. In the audio guide you are accompanied by Erich Demetz, honorary citizen of Selva, pioneer and conceiver of the alpine Ski World Cup races in Val Gardena and President for 28 years of the FIS (Fédération Internationale de Ski).

The sassolungo represents the Val Gardena and it's one of the important mountains here in the surroundings. Climbing up the forcella you will get a fantastic view of the mountains which sourrounds us. Walking up until the forcella you will appreciate the astouning view of the Sella and the Marmolada. You have a lot of possibilities to walk there around and also for climbers there are no limits.

From Plan de Gralba (accessible by ski bus) starts the path no. 653 at the feet of the Sella group. Pass at the Chalet Gerard, where you have to cross the road, and continue along path no. 653 until you arrive at the foot of Piz Culac. Return on the same way.

This 5 km hike leads from Ortisei to Resciesa through the forest. It is a fairly steep trail which requires good physical condition and walking confidence. Do not be discouraged by the elevation gain; you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view that will make you forget your fatigue. This hike is recommended for those who enjoy walking in the tranquility that only the forest can offer.
Stevia is the mountain which is situated above Selva. It's located on the sunny side of Selva and on the top you will have a spectacular view of the whole valley. Here you pass several small lakes, where you can load a short break and relax in pure nature and will leave the stress behind.
The village tour in Selva starts directly at the Selva Tourist Office.
From there, follow the signs towards Vallunga/Langental on path no. 14 to the Silvester chapel. To the left of the chapel you now go over the Way of the Cross in the direction of Daunëi. At the beginning of the path you can see the ruins of Selva Castle on the top right. From Daunëi it is now a bit downhill until we reach the old railway path, which we take in the direction of S. Cristina.
As soon as we have reached the district of La Poza, we cross the street towards the district of La Sëlva. We can already see the Castel/GardenaFischburg from afar, where our path leads along. Then it goes back to the starting point via the walkingpath of La Sëlva.
