Local exhibitors will present traditional handicrafts such as felting, pottery, turning, spinning, braiding, dyeing and the production of ceramics or jewelry in the castle's rooms.
There will be a well-balanced program of events for visitors every day during Advent in the Castle: whilst crackling fires make for a cozy atmosphere, food stands will offer traditional dishes, baked goods and drinks. The Christmas market will also be attended by choirs and music groups, and there will also be all kinds of entertainment for children.
On November 29 and 30 and from December 6 to 8, 2025, Schenna Castle transforms into a charming meeting place for lovers of good food and festive atmosphere: Advent at Schenna Castle combines culinary delights, traditional craftsmanship, and the magic of the pre-Christmas season in a unique way.
Under the motto “Dishes with a Story”, a food stall serves traditional meals from days gone by – authentically prepared and with a deep love for South Tyrolean cuisine.

Ancient crafts come to life on site: watch, discover, and marvel at how things used to be made.
A lovingly designed children’s program awaits our youngest guests, making Advent at Schenna Castle a special experience for the whole family.

Zeitraum, the fifth exhibition in the Mamming Now series, curated by artists Valeria Ferrari and Johannes Inderst, is dedicated to the evocative power of the objects collected in the Palais Mamming depot. The focus is on collective memory and the emotional ties that everyday, often forgotten objects form with our subconscious.
The artists regard the ‘understanding, naming and reordering’ of these artefacts as an act of resistance against forgetting. In this way, the objects take on a new meaning that goes far beyond their original function: they are transformed into veritable ‘fetishes of memory’ and create a space for dreams.

Franz Wanner's first Italian solo exhibition, curated by Kristina Kreutzwald and Martina Oberprantacher, traces his complex artistic research. Using photography, video, words and objects, the artist investigates the past, focusing on the war industry and the use of forced labour in the context of National Socialism, and its effects on society in the present, bringing to light omissions that have been perpetuated over time. For this exhibition, Franz Wanner has also carried out some specific research on the South Tyrolean context and the use of forced labour during the period of the ‘Zone of Operations in the Pre-Alps’, i.e. when the Province of Bolzano was annexed to Nazi Germany.
Kunst Meran Merano Arte hosts AlpiTypes, dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation and connection between lettering, typographic design and lettering painting. The exhibition focuses on applied graphics developed in the first half of the 20th century in the area currently corresponding to South Tyrol, Tyrol and Trentino. Curated by Antonino Benincasa, Massimo Martignoni and Anna Zinelli, AlpiTypes is based on the in-depth research conducted by Benincasa and Martignoni on local graphics. A group of students from the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, Faculty of Design and Art, accompanied by Antonino Benincasa, reinterpreted historical typefaces from incomplete alphabets, which at the time were often made by hand, integrating the missing characters, revealing how the original typographic concept was inspired by European stylistic currents such as Bauhaus, Rationalism, the Wiener Secession, Constructivism and the Arts and Crafts movement. The project is enhanced by the involvement of international graphic designers, who use the fonts to create contemporary typographic posters.
The work highlights a quality and topicality of graphic design in the area that is still almost unknown.

Franco Branciaroli is the protagonist of Sior Todero Brontolon, a masterpiece by Carlo Goldoni presented in 1762 at the Teatro San Luca in Venice and received with great warmth right from its debut.
Miserly, imperious, irritating with the servants, oppressive with his son and granddaughter, distrustful and touchy towards the world: it would seem impossible to empathise with Sior Todero Brontolon. Nonetheless, the indefinable ‘brontolòn’ has attracted actors of the calibre of Cesco Baseggio, Giulio Bosetti or Gastone Moschin, and it is now Branciaroli, a master of the contemporary stage, who offers an extraordinary and unexpected new interpretation directed by Paolo Valerio.
It was Goldoni himself who was amazed at how a text centred on such an odious and negative character had achieved such success. Needless to say, the topicality and peculiarities of his Todero are unscathed even today.
For the first time, Valerio's direction brings together Goldoni's world with that of puppets, two universes that meet in the microcosm of a real and imaginary place. A reinterpretation conducted with strict philological respect for the text and that - at the same time - brings to the stage an original intuition such as that of the puppets alongside the actors, as their alter egos.
Valerio and Branciaroli are preparing to amaze the audience once again with their reinterpretation of a classic of Italian theatre, which can still suggest much to contemporary sensibilities. Just think of the subtle and decisive role that Goldoni entrusts, in the play, to the female world, the only one that in the dramaturgical development appears fully positive. And the finale of the play - at a time when the concept of “patriarchy” dominates our chronicles in its most distorted and leaden meanings - weaves a vein of disturbance into the joyfulness of the resolution.
By Carlo Goldoni, dramaturgy Piermario Vescovo, with Franco Branciaroli and Piergiorgio Fasolo, Alessandro Albertin, Maria Grazia Plos, Ester Galazzi, Riccardo Maranzana, Valentina Violo, Emanuele Fortunati, Andrea Germani, Roberta Colacino in collaboration with I Piccoli di Podrecca.
