Discover the story of the South Tyrolean apple in Merano! This apple tour of Merano's fruit cooperative CAFA will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about our local fruit. After a short introductory film, you can explore the entire cooperative in the company of our apple expert Franz and follow the storage, sorting, packaging and shipping of the South Tyrolean apple. Our apple expert will let you in on all kinds of secrets about our apples' goodness, the varieties and how best to store them at home. To round off the tour there is a brief apple tasting session. Born from the collaboration of Palais Mamming Museum with Brunnenburg and the Merano Academy, the exhibition tells the story of a woman, the work of a poetess, Mary de Rachewiltz, who turns 100 this year. The story of a life woven with the simple everyday and the intellectual richness of literary circles, universities, publishing houses and libraries in Europe and America, friendships with writers, poets and artists. It is the story of a woman who knew how to be both “peasant” and “princess,” who knew how to speak, dream, and compose in Tyrolean dialect, Italian and English. The sugar maples at the entrance of the museum, a gift from her father/poet years before, symbolize Mary’s Dream, a dream that connects the lush rural world to that of literature and poetry.

During the Chestnut Days "KESCHTNRIGGL", everything revolves around the "Tisner Kescht" (Chestnut of Tesimo). Keschtnriggl - Chestnut days. The Chestnut Weeks and the Törggelen in Merano and Environs have been a South Tyrolean Tradition for years. Chestnut days in Tesimo/Tisens - Prissiano/Prissian, Foiana/Völlan and Lana gets ist Name from the "Keschtnriggl" - a hand-braided basket for Peeling roast chestnuts. For three weeks, a colourful Event Programme is put on for visitors: Chestnut walks, torchlight processions from castle to castle and the "Keschtnfestl" feast in Foiana, with Music, farmers market, chestnut delicates and traditional crafts. The aromatic fruit with ist spiky Shell, grows particularly well in Merano and Environs, and during this green Event has pride of place in the specialities of traditional inns and prestigious Restaurants, as well as in exquisite chestnut products such as sweet chestnut hearts, aromatic chestnut beer, hearty chestnut stollen, tasty chestnut spraed, luxuriant chestnut cake, fluffy chestnut bread, the excellent chestnut panettone as well as the noble chestnut praline.

Let yourself be inspired as you explore the possibilities and challenges of the coming age of travel. “The Future of Travelling” presents a collection of creative short texts and their artistic interpretations that will challenge the limits of our imagination. From hypermodern means of transport to sustainable travel options and virtual travel experiences, the exhibition explores a variety of themes that might shape travelling in the coming decades.

Michael Höllrigl’s expressive stone and bronze sculptures will adorn the gardens of the Kränzelhof in 2025, true to his motto “The hand knows more than the head.” “Letting you dream on and on” is the goal of the sculpture exhibition. Whether it’s nearly untouched wilderness or an enchanting cultural landscape, gardens represent the longing for paradise: Tamed nature and untamed inner worlds meet and perhaps grow together. The transformation of an inconspicuous caterpillar into a motionless chrysalis and finally into a colourful butterfly has always fascinated people. This special exhibition invites visitors to dive deep into the fascinating world of these amazing insects. As part of the special exhibition, visitors can experience the life cycle of a butterfly up close! The exhibition will be on display until 29 November 2025.

Zeitraum, the fifth exhibition in the Mamming Now series, curated by artists Valeria Ferrari and Johannes Inderst, is dedicated to the evocative power of the objects collected in the Palais Mamming depot. The focus is on collective memory and the emotional ties that everyday, often forgotten objects form with our subconscious. The artists regard the ‘understanding, naming and reordering’ of these artefacts as an act of resistance against forgetting. In this way, the objects take on a new meaning that goes far beyond their original function: they are transformed into veritable ‘fetishes of memory’ and create a space for dreams.

Franz Wanner's first Italian solo exhibition, curated by Kristina Kreutzwald and Martina Oberprantacher, traces his complex artistic research. Using photography, video, words and objects, the artist investigates the past, focusing on the war industry and the use of forced labour in the context of National Socialism, and its effects on society in the present, bringing to light omissions that have been perpetuated over time. For this exhibition, Franz Wanner has also carried out some specific research on the South Tyrolean context and the use of forced labour during the period of the ‘Zone of Operations in the Pre-Alps’, i.e. when the Province of Bolzano was annexed to Nazi Germany.

Kunst Meran Merano Arte hosts AlpiTypes, dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation and connection between lettering, typographic design and lettering painting. The exhibition focuses on applied graphics developed in the first half of the 20th century in the area currently corresponding to South Tyrol, Tyrol and Trentino. Curated by Antonino Benincasa, Massimo Martignoni and Anna Zinelli, AlpiTypes is based on the in-depth research conducted by Benincasa and Martignoni on local graphics. A group of students from the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, Faculty of Design and Art, accompanied by Antonino Benincasa, reinterpreted historical typefaces from incomplete alphabets, which at the time were often made by hand, integrating the missing characters, revealing how the original typographic concept was inspired by European stylistic currents such as Bauhaus, Rationalism, the Wiener Secession, Constructivism and the Arts and Crafts movement. The project is enhanced by the involvement of international graphic designers, who use the fonts to create contemporary typographic posters. The work highlights a quality and topicality of graphic design in the area that is still almost unknown.

In this new version of the satirical Operaccia Rossi improvises his past, to remind himself of his and others' present. With the proceeds he will pay the psychologist, as well as other debts for various and sundry issues in these difficult times. ‘The satirical operettas are extravagant creations that arise from various inspirations: the reading of great literary classics that are transformed into funny compositions, episodes ’stolen" from lived life and from my personal repertoire then reworked and transformed into comic poems that, thanks to the musical accompaniment, turn into a popular song. The language is incorrect, varied, full of mispronunciations, strange words and suggestions, but easily understood by all. They remain fundamentally stories: we strive to tell them as best we can. On Sunday, November 2nd from 5 to 6.30 pm, the Hotel Café Alpenrose invites you to a cozy Speck Aperitivo. The Italian soprano Roberta Invernizzi studied piano and double bass before concentrating on her vocal studies under the direction of Margaret Hayward and continuing to devote herself to the baroque repertoire with Emma Kirkby and Evelyn Tubb. Roberta Invernizzi has performed in numerous concerts and operas throughout Europe and the USA, including in Rome, Milan, Vienna, Prague, London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Prague, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She has performed with the following ensembles: la Cappella de la Pietà dei Turchini, Il Giardino Armonico, Archibudelli, I Sonatori de la Gioisa Marca, Accademia Strumentale Italiana, Retablo Barocco, Il Complesso Barocco. She has sung under the direction of Giovanni Antonini, Anner Bylsma, Christophe Coin, Alan Curtis, Diego Fasolis, Antonio Florio, Ton Koopman, Gustav Leonhardt, Andrew Parrot and Jordi Savall. In January 1998, she was invited by Gustav Leonhardt to sing at the opening concert of the New York Collegium. Roberta Invernizzi has recorded for the labels Opus 111, Virgin, Stradivarius, K617, Don Giovanni, Stradivarius, Symphonia etc. and has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Diapason d'Or, Choc, 10 de répertoire. Since 1997 Roberta Invernizzi has been teaching baroque singing at the Centro di Musica Antica Pietà dei Turchini in Naples, where she lives today. Gambe di legno Consort was founded in 2001 by Paolo Zuccheri, Francesco Galligioni and Francesco Baroni. The aim of the project was to create an instrumental ensemble dedicated to the vast repertoire for the viola da gamba, ranging from solo pieces for viola to a ‘consort’ with several instruments. The ensemble is regularly invited to perform in concert series focussing on the performance and rediscovery of composers whose works are often unjustly neglected in libraries and archives. The LanAntiqua Festival, organised by the LanAntiqua Association, aims to give "early music", which is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, its deserved place in the cultural life of Lana. This music, which is not limited to any epoch, covers the periods from the Middle Ages to Romanticism. The festival's highest maxim is: original sound, i.e. the performance of the music in an appropriate sound setting on instruments of the period and with the knowledge gained from the historical performance practice handed down in treatises. Thanks to imposing venues such as the church Maria Himmelfahrt in Niederlana with its impressive altar by Hans Schnatterpeck and its special acoustics, top-class concert enjoyment is pre-programmed.

One way is the Jacobson relaxation technique, known as progressive muscle relaxation. The technique is an easy and quickly learned method that helps to relieve tension brought about by stress and overexertion. Untreated, under certain circumstances these tensions can result in back, muscle and head pains, stomach and bowel problems and a range of mental stress symptoms such as sleep and anxiety disorders, depression and even burnout. The Jacobson Method helps us learn to prevent such problems and better deal with damage that has already been done. Relaxation exercises have other benefits too: the body secretes fewer stress hormones, breathing becomes more even, the blood pressure falls and the heart beats more steadily. And the psyche benefits too: physical tensions are reduced and the body regains its natural equilibrium, thus increasing mental wellbeing. Stresses and strains brought about by anxiety, worries and pain diminish.

With our small autumn concert series, we would like to once again present the natural and emotional intelligence of music that is played and mostly composed by ourselves.
