The project "Mindful on the Mountain" aims to sensitise visitors and tourism professionals in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site to environmentally friendly behaviour and to create awareness for respectful and responsible behaviour on the mountain but also in everyday life. The main topics are drinking water and waste avoidance, and the project will also record water refill points along hiking and cycling trails.
Dolomites Val Gardena

Panorama Hut is situated in Selva di Val Gardena near the Passo Gardena at an altitude of 2130 meters. Reachable in 5 minutes from the middle station of the cable car Dantercëpies and in 30 minutes from Passo Gardena. Tyrolean specialties, homemade cakes, sun terrace, children‘s playground. The idyllic Lech Sant (Ladin for ‘Holy Lake’) is the largest mountain lake on the Mastlé Alm. The meadow at the edge of the lake with a magnificent view on the Odle peaks invites you to linger and relax.

Relax and let us guide you throught the menu, from finely garnished bacon and cheese platters, delicious soups, generous Italian and South Tyrolean starters to exquisite meat and bushmeat dishes. Served as a feast for the eyes, the local specialties such as tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, spinach noodles or dumpling dishes give you the flair of the South Tyrolean Alps. Our desserts like the homemade apple pie, the delicious “Germknödel” (germ dumpling) or our “Preiselbeeromlettes” (Cranberry omelettes) provide a cozy warm feeling in the stomach when the mountain air stimulates your appetite.

The Puez hut was built in 1889 by the Austro-German section of the Alpenverein. After the First World War it passed to the Bolzano section of the CAI which, in 1940, handed it over to the well-known alpine guide Pietro Costa, an expert ski instructor and passionate hunter. Costa ran the hut until 1989 and then passed the helm to his children Oscar and Gemma. With the passing of the years and the explosion of high-altitude tourism, needs changed. In order to adapt to the times, the CAI decided to build a new, larger and more modern hut next to the old building. Thus it was that on 8th August 1982, in the presence of the then President of the Republic Sandro Pertini, the new Puez Refuge was inaugurated. In 2024 the Puez hut passed into the hands of the next generation and is now managed by Costa Denis, Pietro Costa's grandson. Assisted by his wife and two daughters, Denis carries on his grandfather's legacy with love and passion.

The residential complex is almost cube shaped with a low, pitched roof. It is situated on a through-road, next to a hotel. Due to the noise of the traffic and the lack of privacy a different design was called for: the concrete frame shields the south side from the road, the west facing side is mainly closed due to the proximity to the hotel and only the most necessary windows can be found on the north side. It is on the east facade that large, regularly spaced windows look out over an open space, as do the terrace areas of the roof top flats. These different, rhythmically placed windows leave a lively impression of the house.

Our hut is situated on the Sella Pass in the middle of the breathtaking Dolomites scenery. Thanks to its position between Val Gardena and Val di Fassa, you can enjoy a fantastic 360° view. In winter you can reach us directly via the Sellaronda. In summer, however, you can reach us either from the Sella Pass after a comfortable 25-minute walk or from Campitello di Fassa with the Col Rodella cable car and after a 20-minute walk downhill towards the Sella Pass. Another option to reach us is by bike in 10 minutes from the Sella Pass or downhill from the Col Rodella cable car towards the Sella Pass in only 5 minutes. A large selection of creative culinary dishes from South Tyrolean and Italian cuisine awaits you here. Also pizza lovers will not miss out(only winter). We are happy to host you for dinners, events, private parties or other special occasions. For further information and for bookings do not hesitate to contact us.

In our tennis center there are 3 illuminated outdoor gravel courts and the possibility to take attend lessons.

In our workshop with family tradition, we create completely handmade wood carvings, also from pine wood.

Dolomites Val Gardena

The school is situated in the immediate vicinity of the parish church and the House of the Teutonic Order, and was built outside the old town in what was formerly a bog. Here the water table is only about one meter below the surface of the ground. In order to avoid a dangerous rise of groundwater in the area and thus circumvent repercussions in the historical buildings as a result of building the school, the structure was built on a “raft” 80 inches above the ground. Likewise because of the historical neighboring building, a long, single-story structure was planned that would not create competition from a design viewpoint but would, however. have its own distinct character. Under the wide, projecting flat roof and on the perimetric base plate a “forest” of tree trunks was placed in front of the façades, which allows for enough illumination but creates a solid impression in the oblique view. Depending on the viewing angle and light, the building differs distinctly in appearance.

For over 130 years, DOLFI in Val Gardena has been bringing wood to life with artisan skill and proudly made in Italy. Here you will find nine wooden houses, all decorated with different collections. For children, we have an outdoor play area and a corner for wood painting inside. On the second floor, there is the outlet with heavily discounted sculptures, nativity scenes, and items. Additionally, you can enjoy our lounge bar and experience the magical Christmas atmosphere all year round at our permanent Christmas market.
