    Visit one of the oldest preserved churches in Europe. The small church of St Benedict from the 8th century AD has Carolingian wall paintings inside, which are among the oldest frescoes in Western Europe. A building from the 8th century. The Romanesque tower dates from the 12th century. The paintings and Carolingian frescoes inside are among the oldest in the entire German-speaking world. The church harbours the world's only portrait of a Frankish landlord.     Meet & touch the Lama - Trial lessons

    Adventurous hours await our visitors in the Llama Paradise in the Upper Martell Valley, the summer quarters of the National Park New World camelids. Here you can get to know these gentle, curious animals, get very close to them while petting, combing and feeding them and, if you wish, lead them yourself on a leash through the meadows and forests of the National Park during a short trekking walk after instruction in the obstacle course. Smaller children may lead a llama on a leash in the secured area. Indian feeling in the tipi tent is on top. Of course there will be enough time for photos and videos with our loving ‘long-necks’. Meeting a llama is an unforgettable experience for young and old. Duration: approx. 1,5-2 hours Also suitable for small children, also possible without trekking In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed!

    The return of the sheep from the summer pastures of the Ötztal Valley to the Schnalstal Valley has a long traditional story. The restaurants invite to the popular speciality weeks around the local sheep. From the local farmer, finest meat of sheep ends up on the plates of the guests. Rustic, traditional, refined, modern or re-created – there is the right enjoyment experience for every palate. Sustainability, nature and locality are not a trend in the Schnalstal Valley, but a way of life. The Schnalstal Valley has been since 2021 a Slow Food Presidium. Slow Food is a project that brings together more than 5000 unique food products from all over the world.

    Circular hike to the lowest summit cross in the Schnalstal Valley (2,285 metres)

    Note: currently, the tour is only offered in German and Italian. The circular hike starts from the hiking starting point in Unser Frau in the direction of Mastaun Alm. After an ascent of around 2.5 hours, you reach the Mastaunpichele with its summit cross (2,285 metres above sea level). From the summit cross, you can not only see the snow fields of the Niederjochferner and Marzellferner in all their splendour, but also the Vernagt reservoir sparkling turquoise blue as you look down into the valley. The descent is via the Lafetz Alm back to the starting point.     Guide the Lama - full day trekking tour - for experienced hikers
    Martell/Martello, Vinschgau/Val Venosta
    Our trekking guide Florian will start with you from the meeting point at the parking lot in Upper Martelly Valley to an eventful day through the wonderful panoramic world of the National Park. Together with our llama boys Giacomo, Rocky, Rono, Rambo, Casper and Winnetou, who carry your backpacks in the pack saddle, Florian will lead you to the most beautiful places with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. As a certified hiking guide, he will introduce you to the local flora and fauna. Through the spotting scope you may even be able to observe some wild animals, such as deer, chamois and marmots, and thus be almost as close to them as to the national park llamas, whose soothing tranquility will make you feel calm and balanced. We will stop at one of the most beautiful view points, while you will strengthen yourself with a snack of local products from the national park and enjoy the surrounding nature. Via the Panorama Trail we return to the starting point. Another route leads us to the Lyfialm (alping pasture) with its centuries-old primeval larches on the sunny side of the Martell Valley and right to the llama enclosure, the summer quarters of the animals in Thial, nearby the biathlon center. Difference in altitude: approx. 400 m Duration: approx. 6-7 h, pure walking time (easy tour) approx. 3-4 hours Costs (snack with local products from the national park included): 60 Euro per person, 30 Euro for accompanying person The tour is suitable for experienced hikers, also for children from the age of 6 who enjoy hiking; however, they should be accompanied by another person when leading a llama. The tour is subject to change! We reserve the right for our guide to adjust the route of the tour depending on weather conditions, participant requirements or for the welfare of our animals! In case of rain the trekking will be postponed!
