This tour is a must – because it’s simply a lot of fun! The guides from Plose Bike have discovered new, challenging trails, accessible with an additional climb. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, there’s also a classic, easier route. Look forward to three summits and varied trails! The Gitschberg and Jochtal cable cars take care of most of the elevation gain. After a steep climb, we reach the Kleine Gitsch, our first summit. Looking for a day outdoors that’s both meaningful and fun? Join us on Saturday, September 20, 2025 (World CleanUP Day) for the CleanUP Hike in the Ahrntal – with time in nature, inspiring conversations, and a shared goal: leaving a positive impact.

We’ll start together in Luttach and follow the Ahr River downstream on a relaxed 6 km trail. Along the way, local guide Marco Zema will share fascinating insights into the unique nature of South Tyrol and the river’s ecosystem. There's time for connection, reflection, and of course – collecting litter along the route.

Our destination is the beautifully located Goasroscht in Sand in Taufers, where we’ll wind down with a small snack (thanks to the Zukunft Ahrntal Consortium) and come together for the CleanUP Workshop by PATRON. We'll take a closer look at what we collected and discuss what each of us can do – and why it matters to take action. We’ll then screen Treelude – an experimental short film exploring the connection between people and nature, filmed right here in the Ahrntal. Its soundtrack is composed entirely of natural sounds recorded on location. The film was created by athlete and nature photographer/filmmaker Lukas Schäfer, directed by Marco Zingaretti, and initiated by Linda Schwarz, Executive Producer of POW Italy. Produced by Soul Film Production in collaboration with OL Music Studio.

Golden eagles are solitary birds that mate for life. Every year between March and June, the female lays up to three eggs. She incubates them for around 45 days. During this time, the male provides her with food. The young birds make their first attempts at flight in late summer. Hiking guide Gernot has been observing golden eagles in Hinterpasseier/Alta Val Passiria for years. He knows where they breed and whether the brood was successful. With a little luck, we will see the golden eagle soaring above our heads. Accompanied by summer guest Elisabeth Frühauf, who has spent her summers at Vigiljoch since childhood. She knows every trail and path on the mountain and collects litter all year round, because Vigiljoch is close to her heart and she knows what true summer refreshment feels like. Registered participants can use the cable car free of charge and, at the end of the guided CleanUP, are invited to a shared lunch at the Gasthaus Sessellift. Route Description: From the Vigiljoch cable car mountain station, the route follows trail no. 34 for a few meters until the “Upper Quellenweg” no. 13 branches off. Mostly level, the wide and well-paved Quellenweg is followed until trail no. 11, the Kuhsteig, turns right and climbs steeply through the forest, meeting trail no. 34 near the Gasthaus Gampl. Continuing along trail no. 34, the path passes the little church. There we take the forest path no. 5, which runs parallel to the wide trail no. 4, until it merges with trail no. 4 just below the Gasthaus Sessellift, leading the last few meters to the Sessellift mountain station – our destination. With Klaus Demar, expert on the Rittner Railway. Meeting point: 9 a.m. at Klobenstein railway station/Goat, 9.30 a.m. in Oberbozen. Price for hiking tour: € 15, free with the RittenCard. Program: Ride the Rittner cable car from Oberbozen to Bolzano/Bozen. From there, the guided hike follows the route of the former narrow-gauge railway via St. Magdalena and Maria Himmelfahrt back to Oberbozen. Duration: 4.5 hours (pure walking time: 3 hours). Accompanied by the management of the Vigiljoch Cable Car, who have known the area since childhood and can share fascinating stories about both the cable car and the Vigiljoch. The route leads along the springs, part of an important water protection area where litter has no place. Registered participants can use the cable car free of charge and, at the end of the guided CleanUP, are invited to a shared lunch at the Gasthaus Sessellift. Route Description: From the Vigiljoch cable car mountain station, we immediately turn left. After a few meters below the cable car and the hotel, we reach the fork leading to Pawigl. Here, however, we continue straight ahead along the mostly level “Lower Quellenweg” no. 1. We follow the Quellenweg to the entrance of the spring tunnel. From there, forest road no. 34A takes us to the Gasthof Bärenbad. Passing it, we continue on trail no. 2 to the little church, where we then follow trail no. 4 uphill to the Gasthof Sessellift at the chairlift mountain station. A special hike along an almost forgotten trail: the ancient hunter’s path leads us through quiet, remote mountain landscapes once known only to hunters. The "Seven Lakes Tour" is a demanding but truly rewarding hike in the Ridnaun high mountains. We save the first two hours and 600 metres in altitude thanks to the shuttle that takes us from Maiern to the Moarerbergalm. From there we dive into the unmistakable world of the glacier lakes, in whose mostly calm surface shimmering sky spectacles are impressively reflected. For thousands of years, the lakes have been witnesses to the glacial world of the Ice Age. On our circular hike we enjoy the dreamlike view of the Moarer Weißen, also called the Ridnaun Dolomites. Ascent: 2h - 600 vertical meters and 3km (moderately steep) Descent: 4 to 6 hours - 1,350 vertical meters and 11 km (steep and bumpy) A break is made halfway along the Trüber See lake with your own provisions, no stop at a hut is planned. 40 YEARS OF THE MERANO HIGH MOUNTAIN TRAIL This impressive hike along the historic Merano High Mountain Trail is a journey through time on one of the oldest high-altitude trails in the Alps. Upon arrival at the Texelbahn cable car mountain station, breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Merano basin unfold. The historic trail, once an important connection between mountain farms, leads past original alpine farms and lush mountain meadows. “Morning is the golden hour”. Never a truer word was said, as you’ll see when you get to the Rosszahnscharte ridge high above the Seiser Alm and behold the glow of early-morning light over the Dolomites at dawn. A shuttle service will take you to the Seiser Alm. Together with the mountain guide, you hike towards Panorama and, later, cross the slopes of the Goldknopf at the foot of the Rosszahnscharte ridge. A narrow hiking trail then winds upwards in a steep ascent to the Rosszahnscharte ridge (2,499 m), for the breath-taking beauty of the sunrise. Just a few minutes’ walk from here will take you to the Tierser Alpl mountain refuge, where you can recharge your batteries for the descent with a mountain breakfast.
