A regional exhibition project on the ambivalent concept of Heimat in cooperation between the Heimatpflegeverband Südtirol, the Südtiroler Künstlerbund and the Granaio di Nomi, organised on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Heimatpflegeverband Südtirol. Rooted from early childhood, the Heimat accompanies people throughout their lives, shaping identities and entire families. It can be familiar or lost, and serves as a utopian construct that simultaneously conveys a seemingly real emotional condition. The German word Heimat is difficult to translate into Italian - as in other languages - and few concepts are so strongly connoted by emotion and yet so deeply nuanced. In a world of constant change, which entails a loss of social ties, the nurturing of tradition and Heimat appears as an alternative to modern digitised speed. Heimat is experienced on the one hand as an Arcadian refuge that stimulates self-reflection. On the other hand, history and the current political situation show how this ideal can be instrumentalised and lead to exclusion, even to violence and war.Under fundamentally changed living conditions, the concept of Heimat increasingly takes on new meanings. In relation to waves of migration, Heimat represents a complex interface that raises questions of belonging, cultural rootedness and adaptability. People who leave their Heimat and live in new environments look for ways to define their identity in the conflict between past and present. Added to this is the influence of climate change, which entails not only physical but also emotional changes. Solastalgia - the feeling of homesickness without having left one's home, caused by environmental changes in one's area - is spreading. In this extensive exhibition, between the SKB ARTES venues, the outdoor area of the NOI Techpark and the Granary in Nomi, 25 artists from the region explore the concept of 'Heimat' through various media and on various levels of content. They deconstruct the term and investigate which dimensions the complex and layered concept of Heimat can encompass on a cultural, geographical, social, political and emotional level, both in the present and in the future. What happens when people from fields as diverse as art and science venture beyond the boundaries of their respective disciplines to explore complex social issues such as inequality together? The project ‘exCHANGE: paths of collaboration between art and science’ provides answers to this question. Six tandems, combining artistic and scientific practices, have developed innovative approaches to promote social change. It all began with a flash of inspiration, a brilliant idea that brought light into the dark times of Covid. Arnold Delmonego, together with his daughter Nora, who is the fifth generation to run the family business in Klausen, wanted to build bridges. The two master craftsmen, in whose workshop the shoes are still made by hand, suggested that artists and creative minds paint the shoes they had created. A challenge that was met with enthusiasm. For the artists, it was an incentive to get involved, to break new ground, based on the premise of artistically designing an unusual medium in order to achieve surprising results. Craft and art go hand in hand in this exhibition, with the shoes also being flanked by various works by the artists.

The new special exhibition at the Museum Ladin is titled “Countdown to Mass Extinction?”. It focuses on the End Permian Mass Extinction that occurred 252 million years ago and the current climate change. Free entry. We and our bodies, ideas, imaginations, and desires are consumed, processed, and monetized every day, just as we consume ourselves. Questioning the concept of visual excess in times of global crises requires an expanded understanding of research fields that bridge multiple contexts: How do we visually confront – and find ourselves confronted by – the contemporary phenomena of (over-)production and (hyper-)consumption? How can we filter out information “signals” from an excess of data “noise”? How do narratives of excess interact with imaginaries of renouncement, sacrifice, and resistance? How do they shape the way we perceive ourselves and how we live together as societies? The exhibition Diminishing Returns explores these questions, proposing counter-narratives and performative activities that challenge stereotypical notions of excess and its impacts. The works critically examine the personal, cultural, and social implications of excess from diverse perspectives. They contribute to dialogue by creating spaces for reflection, analyzing the role and use of images in our visual landscape, and engaging visitors through formats that directly challenge them.

In the Body of Language Im Körper der Sprache Nel corpo del linguaggio describes in three languages an environment that is explored with this art biennial and at the same time the state of our existence in the impossibility of separating the spiritual from the physical. Even if language is ultimately limited to a translation of inner experience and cognition, the communicable part of our experience and understanding of the world can be expressed in it. Language is a means of participation and has revolutionary potential. It builds worlds within us and around us, creates connections and demarcations. At the same time, it is alive and in constant motion - it reflects the political and social upheavals of our time.

The apple has always symbolised eternal youth, beauty, love, power or sin. The exhibition at the StadtGalerie Brixen, on the other hand, focusses on its basic function as a foodstuff. But even in this profane area, in South Tyrol the fruit is charged with the auspicious meaning of growth and prosperity. Since the middle of the 19th century, cultivation has been increasingly expanded, and in many places monocultures dominate the landscape today. In this group exhibition, artists explore the production processes of the apple industry. They show connections between the marketing of apples and the tourist region, examine the gender roles conveyed therein and the handling of tradition. Our relationship to nature, the origin of our food and the way certain foods evoke a sense of familiarity also play a role in “Apples and other vegetables”. With research-based installations, humour and horror scenarios, an interactive website, video works, photography and screen printing, Claudia Eichbichler, Gut++ (Erik Campanini, Alex Foradori, Bianca Schick), Christian Jankowski, Sonia Leimer, Suzan Noesen and Franziska Schink encourage reflection and discussion. The title AMONG THE INVISIBLE JOINS is borrowed from the writing of Virginia Woolf, in which human life unfolds as a testament to its fluidity, brimming with potential and uncertainty. Her characters delicately hover between presence and impending absence, grappling with the memory of events and conflicts that prove elusive to full comprehension. The title therefore hints at the various thresholds between remembering and forgetting and the recurring acts of opening and closing doors on the continuous human journey of becoming. As such, the exhibition traces the intimate connections between life itself and the stories we tell, between what was and what remains physically perceptible. Above all, it highlights the collectors’ understanding of the transformative power of art by providing profound insights into life’s fluidity. The works selected for AMONG THE INVISIBLE JOINS encourage viewers to ponder the transitional spaces of contemporary existence, where socio-political tensions intertwine with artistic expression. Throughout their artistic and sometimes activist work, artists such as Lisetta Carmi, Nan Goldin, and Zoe Leonard have emphasized the fluid nature of identity by regarding bodies as open systems in a permanent exchange with the environment. The works of Giulia Cenci, Jef Geys, Roman Ondak, Tarik Kiswanson and Bronwyn Katz are just a few examples of how doors, and windows recur in the exhibition as potent motifs that frame the human body as well as marking transitions and thresholds. Objects from daily life, urban architecture, and public décor – like Alex Ayed’s sculptures or Michael E. Smith or Massimo Bartolini’s installations – are relocated and reframed by the artists to compose new narratives and weave unexpected connections between geographies and memories. Curated by Museion director Bart van der Heide, Frida Carazzato, Brita Köhler, and Leonie Radine, in collaboration with the collector Lorenzo Paini, the exhibition showcases a significant part of the Enea Righi Collection. Over the years, this collection has not only followed the artistic evolution of renowned conceptual positions, it has also embraced and supported a younger generation of artists. Another defining characteristic of the collection is its affinity for works of an institutional scale.

A collection of the traditional costume "Rittner Tracht" from the 18th century to the present day. On Wednesdays and Fridays from 4–6 p.m. in the historic Commandery Lengmoos. Guided tour of the church and visit to the Romanesque three apses church of St. Margarethen. It is one of the Romanesque sites in South Tyrol and represents an art-historical treasure of European value. On the Romanesque Road you will come across numerous documents from earlier times. From the "Foolish Virgins" and the "Dumpling Eater", to one of the oldest churches in Tyrol, the smallest town in the Alps and the highest Benedictine monastery in Europe, as well as other Romanesque frescoes and sites of unspeakable value, these are all part of the "Stairway to Heaven" project. Two days dedicated to history, the association that promotes the contemporary history archive of Lake Braies has always animated the exchange between historians, cultural operators and the interested public.
